One of the most consistent places around for real bbq, above average brisket and pork along with excellent sides. One of my favorite stops.

Wow what an amazing place to have a meal…read more.. Did NOT know what to think but it was awesome. Vegan Friendly... They can make you anything you want with vegan dogs, vegan cheese (even cream cheese) and vegan sauces... Make sure you use the right door.. and they even have a covered patio area...

Driving from Buffalo to Pittsburgh there were several requests in the car for "good french fries"…read more I did a google search and Lucky Louie's popped up so we figured we'd try it. The place itself is pretty tiny. About three tables and hightop chairs along the bar. The menu is on the wall and huge! We ordered the kids Octodog which was a huge it. It is a hot dog cut into the shape of an octopus and served over macaroni and cheese. The octopus even had a face cut into it. My daughter said it was almost too cute to eat. My husband got the two dog special - two smaller versions of their signature dogs - because he was having a hard time deciding. They were served on "regular" hot dog rolls vs. the specialty buns most of theirs come on, but it was a perfect way to get to try two different flavors for the price of one of their signature dogs. I got the greek fries. DELICIOUS! I love the flavor of their greek sauce and the combo of the ingredients was just perfect. If I order this in the future, I'll probably add a hot dog chopped up on the top (to get the taste of a favorite dish from a hot dog shop back home). Service was quick and friendly. Overall a wonderful place with a great selection of unique and creative fry and hot dog options. Definitely a place we will be back to!

Finally made it to the Forest Nook after being recommended by many locals…read more It did not disappoint. After a long day on the local trails the family was hungry. The food was great! As a bit of a foodie, I can be tough to please. The wings were as good as any you could get in Buffalo. The burger was great. Cooked to perfection. And those fries! Ive been craving those fries! The staff was polite and attentive. Of the places in the Forest that we have eaten, this was definitely the best experience!! We will definitely make this our first stop on next year's trip!!

I recommend visiting this charming restaurant located in Cook Forest…read more There is a little store adjacent to the restaurant which has really cute little homemade gifts and Bigfoot related merchandise. You select the items you want to purchase and then bring to the restaurant. Walking into the café/restaurant, there wasn't a sign "wait here to be seated" etc. or anything like that.. so we caught the attention of a waitress who was friendly and sat us at a table. The forest nook was busy on this Saturday afternoon. The patrons seem to be locals and visitors as well. The menu had something for everyone and our server was quite friendly. My boyfriend ordered the personal pizza which was incredibly fresh. I ordered the steak and cheese sandwich. My sandwich was also delicious and very filling. There were specialty cocktails available as well as beer on the menu. I really enjoyed the outside décor of The Forest Nook. The restaurant updates their hours and special events on their facebook page. They also accept reservations on their website. We had a great first experience and cannot to return!!

When you walk into Johnny's you kinda feel like you've been transported back to the good ole days when you were a kid. It's the same. It's comfort. You walk in, they take your order at the counter, you pay at the register (cash only but ATM on site), you give them your name and go find a table. Once your name is called you head back up to the counter to grab your food. It's just a cool, back in the day vibe. Your order comes on a standard red tray. Which is an added touch I just love. The owners are the same family owners since the beginning and I LOVE THAT! I love the food but I could not eat it everyday. Well, then again, maybe I could. I always order 1 with E. Which is one texas hot with everything. I add the texas fries to my order and I'm a happy girl. I have so many fond memories of meals in the classic diner - hot dogs, burgers, root beer floats, milkshakes and fries - everything on the menu just hits and is so comforting. Despite busy lunch rushes, the staff at always greet you with a smile and work quickly to deliver your order. There is a reason this small family run restaurant has thrived for decades and it is a must stop for everyone visiting Lakewood.

We typically always order the New York style hot dogs - mustard, onions, chili, and pickles. The potato salad which reminds me of my mother's. They do have other options for lunch and breakfast. My best comparison is that it tasted like a hotdog you'd get at the concession stand at a high school football game. The hotdog looked and tasted like a standard Oscar Meyer, the bun like Wonderbread, there was almost no chili on it. They truly made no effort to make it taste good. My wife got a Chicago dog. I'm not sure any part of it resembled a true Chicago dog. The fries were McDonald's style, They were OK but not quite as good as McDonalds. My wife asked for cheese on hers. They slapped a piece of American cheese over top the fries. That's a first for me. The only good part of the experience came at the end. We were waiting for our check (no one told us you have to go up front) when a younger waitress came over and was very friendly, as was the owner who was there at the counter. The bill came in at an affordable price too. I don't enjoy giving such poor reviews, but I don't think it matters here. These guys obviously have a loyal, regular clientele. They cater to them and not intruders like us.
