I have passed this place a few times and finally decided to stop due to repeated frustrations with fast food chains. I have to say I have finally found my go to place for "fast food". Many people will say a hot dog or hamburger are just a hot dog and hamburger. Not here, they were actually cooked to perfection and fairly priced. This is an "omg I'm so drunk" or "omg I'm so lazy " or "i hate my life and just want a milkshake !" Or "I'm home sick!" Type place. It's greasy sloppy cheap comfort food. I think it's so popular because it's a tradition like van's was and johny's is and because they rock out amazing milkshakes. Mmmm peanut butter milkshake is what makes them a 3 star and not a 2 star. Sorry I'm bias, I don't like onions or most chili. I just put ketchup on my dogs and cheese burgers. This location used to be 4 stars in my opinion. I visited at around 9:30 pm on a Saturday, they close the inside at 9:00 pm and their drive-thru at 10:00 pm. There were two or three cars behind us even at 9:45 pm! We order a deal that came with 15 burgers, 2 sides, and 2 drinks for 29.99 as recommended by the employee at the drive-thru. We were also able to upgrade our drinks to milkshakes and make half of the burgers hot dogs instead. It was very accommodating and easy to order. The women at the drive-thru were very kind, helpful, and patient. It was an amazing service experience. The food itself was okay but not as great as I thought. There were so many onions and chili on the hot dog which I was just not a fan of. I had a loganberry milkshake and chocolate milkshake that were mediocre and tasted like any other milkshake. The fries were delicious, they were perfectly crispy and warm. If it wasn't for their superb fries I would probably say its a 2 star. This place is the rudest and has the rudest workers there wats the funny thing about them is the manager of the place jumps to conclusions before she actually knows wat took place I've had a few Rubin's with her and yet she still speaks to customers nasty and has the worst customer service as a manager I won't or ever go back in there ever again. And I know a few other people feel the same about her a few workers there. If your gonna be in customer service e make sure you're up for the service u need to give. I left the last time I was in there before I actually ended up telling her where to shove it she Is the nastiest manager I have ever met in my life. It is what it is. It's not a five star burger joint, it's not the best food you'll ever have, and it sure as hell isn't the healthiest. But none of those are why I stop by every time I get Texas hots when I come to Jamestown. It's a local treasure that can't be replicated. As others have mentioned they only have 4 parking spaces out front, but a fairly open lot at the business next door. The inside is fairly small and only has about 6 tables. But there is always the drive thru option and this sloppy food holds up surprisingly well when you get it to go. I do like the sauce here a little better than "the other guy" across town. The fries seem to be a little crispier too. I always get my fries with sauce and cheese and they use white cheese, soooo much better than yellow cheese in my opinion. All in all I split my love for Jamestown Texas hots between this place and the place across town. They both have their perks and I love them both equally. Lol. read more

They serve the best burgers and dogs I have ever had in my life and whenever I go to visit the fam I go to get my fix and am never disappointed. Hell I have been going there since I was 5 years old and haven't been disappointed. I even recognize some of the employees working there from when I was a kid. Ok, about the food. The burgers are small but cheap and they are served covered with this delicious beef gravy with onions and awesome spices and mustard. Well, I think you have to have grown up on these to post one of the glowing, orgiastic reviews for this place. Theres something powerful about food, memory and sense of place, so Ill give it that. Had two of the dogs with everything and a very tasty malted peanut butter shake. The "Texas Hots" are small'ish, so I ordered two on the rec of the counter person (you can get 3 for 3.12 to go) and the shake. Buns are steamed and the dog is covered with a mixed chili/beef gravy sort of sauce. The shake was very good. A tad thinner than I like,, but strong peanut butter flavor and a generous-sized cup for $3 bucks. Didnt taste the malt, but the PB was strong. Overall, it was enjoyable for what it was, but I wouldnt necessarily go out of my way again. That being said, the drive thru had 5 cars lined up and there were about 8 high school baseball players inside chomping down. I love that little local places like this continue to thrive in a society that keeps getting more bland each year. Driving through Jamestown, we thought, let's 'Yelp' for lunch. Ohh, this place has five stars.... Oh well. The food was just bad. A small piece of bland salty hot dog covered in, drenched in, gravy and onions. Several of us had stomach aches afterwards. The one nice thing I can say is that everyone working there was very nice. Anyone from the area probably grew up on this stuff. Half of my love for AJs is pure nostalgia, but the other half is because it's just so good. Although, being an adult, I'm a little more wary of what I put in my body, and this definitely is not equivalent to eating a plate of kale. But, of course, there's some value in comfort food, and for people in the Chautauqua area, this is definitely comfort food. Not only is AJs a regional treasure, you'll save some of your treasure eating here. It is cheap eats by all definitions. But that isn't saying it's not quality. They are supportive of regional businesses and use good fresh ingredients. What you'll get here is either a dog or burger loaded with a delicious spiced beef gravy, a smearing of yellow mustard and handful of finely hand chopped onions. All of those ingredients are essential (Though some would argue against the onions, trust me, they all go together). Add to this a side of freshly fried, perfectly salted strips of potato, loaded with the same spicy beef sauce, covered with a melted square of cheese and again, onions and you have yourself a truly delicious meal. Top it off with a freshly spun shake, or my favorite (and hard to find) Loganberry drink. It's not hard to know why this is a regional favorite. read more

This is a must have when I am back in town. I grew up eating AJ's as a kid. Now, when I come home, it is on my list of foods to eat before I head back south. I love coming back and leaving happy, yet again. It's just as I remembered it - each visit. The hot dogs and Texas sauce do not disappoint me. I ordered two turkey dogs (I think they might actually be bigger than the regular dogs) with just texas sauce. They were as good as I remembered - warm buns (steamed maybe), shredded dogs and the best sauce ever. Thanks AJ's for taking me back to my childhood. Great job! If you are a first timer - you want to order dogs or burgers. The standard order is for Texas sauce (something delicious that I find to be between chilli and gravy), onions and mustard. I don't care for mustard or onions and love mine with just the Texas sauce. I recommend staying away from the ketchup. I had Texas fries for the first time. You really can not go wrong with a Texas hot or two or three for lunch. I grew up (and a little out) on these and they taste just as good as they did when I was a kid. Consistency is key people. Parking is usually a problem especially in the winter. They only have 4 spaces out front and if there is snow on the ground it us piled up in the back and take up the 4 or so spaces in the back. But there is parking in the two lots next door on each side. OR you could utilize the drive through. I just don't recommend trying to eat and drive if you care anything about the shirt you are wearing. I ordered the 2 meal which means you get two hots (burgers, dogs or a combo), fries and a drink. When they ask you what you want to drink say Loganberry. It is the best in town. My dog and burger were just as I remembered: soft steamy bun, skinny meat, globs of gravy that drip out the sides onto your paper plate and the perfect amount of mustard and yummy raw onions. (Great now I have made myself want more. I knew I should have ordered some to go.) The fries were perfectly crispy and not over salted. Atmosphere is diner-esque, clean and bright. Order at the counter and wait for the bright red tray to be loaded with yumminess. Not much lingering is done here; in and out, easy and quick just like the time it takes to get your order. They allow you to mix and match flavors, which is nice. It was perfectly blended; not lumpy at all. The flavor balance was good too. I don't think they use real bananas though. It didn't taste like it at least. The fries were amazing for a fast food place. Even for a not fast food place they would be awesome. Perfectly crispy and salty. Didn't even need ketchup. That's all I would go back there for though. I got some burgers and they tasted kind of funky. Fortunately, i didnt get sick from them. AJ's hot dogs are the only ones I really like because they don't have a really strong flavor like the kind you buy in grocery stores. The sauce is alright, but I prefer my hot dogs plain. My parents love the sauce, so it's just me. My boyfriend really enjoyed it too. The french fries aren't bad. I haven't ever had anything but hot dogs and fries here. I went last night AJS has been a long time favorite spot to go to since I was a small child. Being I live out of town, I had to full fill my AJ fix and was so disappointed with my service in the drive thru. When I started to order I was asked after each item ordered "is that it?". The woman was clearly irratated that I wanted time to look at the menu. I was the only car in the drive thru at the time. After ordering my food I sat at the widow for 10 minutes before anyone said anything to me. Although the food was spot on, the service was horrible. There's something really special about those tiny hot dogs and little buns that come wrapped up perfectly in a brown paper bag. The sauce is something you'll never be able to recreate or find anywhere else. Meaty, Hearty, sweet and spicy. For 16 dollars you can get 8 hot dogs a burger and fries. And trust me you'll need AT LEAST 2-3 hot dogs in one sitting. Be warned this is no fancy hyped up joint this is a simple no frills delicious staple in our town. Since I moved away 8 years ago I've tried re create the experience by buying jars of sauce. But it's never the same.
