I recently visited Forest Cafe. It's a very unassuming location, but they were on point! The place has a casual cafe vibe, and serves fresh made traditional Mexican cuisine...but also donuts! I ordered the chilaquiles; perfectly portioned, smothered in their green salsa, crema, sliced avocado, and I had them add a pair of sunny side up eggs(cooked perfectly!) as the cherry on top. If you know chilaquiles, it's tough to find that balance between soggy/overcooked, and flavorful/crispy. They found it here! Also...I let them know I wanted a little bit of a kick. If you're into spicy, and I'm not sure if it's their "secret", but they offered me a Salsa Alegre that added that extra heat I craved. Overall good welcoming place, fresh authentic food, and friendly service. I'll be back to try more! read more

I can't believe all the positive reviews about this place. I just had an extremely dry breakfast burrito (with ham) that was incredibly bland. The side of dry taters made my car smell like garlic for over an hour with all doors left open... The gal at the register was withdrawn & I missed seeing any personality she might normally portray. The burrito, besides being dry and bland, was too small to be charging $20 for. The container had someone else's order on it (?) It said 'turkey no cheese' but I cut it in half and saw the ham & cheese. Maybe I'm just used to being spoiled by Surfin D's down the way~ but there's no way I'd ever return to The Forest Cafe... read more

Unbelievably good breakfast burritos. I bring family here when they're in town to visit and they always love it! The donuts are amazing as long as you stick to anything other than the filled ones. The cream filled is pretty "meh", as are the jelly filled, purely due to the filling. The donuts themselves are amazing! Service is excellent and friendly! I'm assuming the negative reviews regarding service were from "disagreeable" clientele. (Lets be honest, entitlement of unreasonable customers is getting out of hand). Wish it was a bit cheaper. Great breakfast burrito, which I came for three times the same week when I first tried it! Spicy, and Latin style so be prepared for their salsa and beans. I love it here and hope this business thrives. My only two critiques are that that they should have a more intuitive and updated menu, and also expand their options for vegetarians. But, whoever was working that day behind the counter was welcoming, kind and refreshingly honest. I met the owner the other day when he got a flat tire and I was able to help him out. He was so kind he said come by for a breakfast burrito on him. I met his family and they were terrific. So nice and what a friendly environment. Courteous, fast, and delicious. I took a bunch of pictures that kind of outlines what they have. This is really a restaurant. Went to breakfast with friends today and at first we were kind of disappointed at the limited menu before realizing we had a just one page of a very long and diverse menu. It was very busy and I was watching the woman running the register and she was amazing. She stayed calm, courteous, and helpful. When she got to taking our order, our group had some different requests and even though the line was out the door by this point she remained friendly and answered all questions. Once we ordered the food it took no time to bring us our orders. Everything was correct, the man who brought our food was so kind, the food portions were generous, and the food was delicious. I didn't realize they had full breakfast here. Thought it was just donuts. It's so much more! The breakfast burritos are delicious and the omelettes are light and fluffy and full of flavor. Love the cronuts also. Thought cest la vie in Laguna was only place for them. Turns out this place has been excellent cronuts and donuts in general.
