Had an amazing day until we pulled our vehicles up the road to load all of the supplies we had carried in for the birthday party we had for a 1 year old. As soon as we got out of the car to load up ice chests and our belongings a sheriff pulled up and started to write tickets out to everyone parked in the loading area. I get that it was not a parking spot, but the car was running and we had already packed everything we just had to load it. He had zero care for the fact all of the kids started crying because he scared them (all kids 1-10 years old) and then ended screaming at the parents saying "you have 5 minutes to leave!" We cut our day short because at the end of it. And it did create an overall HOSTILE environment for The children, and party goers. However, it is a beautiful place to take the family, water is a bit cold but not too bad. Overall I will probably never go here again with my children. Not if human decency is a foreign concept. read more

Good, but far too expensive for peddle boats! All other boats there are $25 and under, but the peddles are $35, and they said they barely rent any. Maybe because they are the most expensive! They're the only boats id ever rent, as the uv rays during the only time of year they are open are absolutely unbearable and vile. Both our butte and lower backs were all screwed up after though, due to not having any padding. The life vests are so thick, you can't peddle with them on, and your upper thighs push into the bottom, shoving the vests into your ears. It is tremendously uncomfortable, and we had to take our vests off and use them as padding instead. read more

Everything. Just great customer service and a lovely place to beat the valley heat. If you pack a lunch and paddle out to the point of the peninsula, there's a lovely little pergola and picnic table to grab some shade. Around the bend is the heron rookery so if you're a bird lover and paddle head you're in the right place. read more

Came here around noon on a Saturday. . They have a sand box for like a beach feel. . It was not crowded when we were there on a Saturday and around noon time. . There was only 2 couples with their kids only. . The water was warm and wasn't deep. The deep side to where can only go to before block out is like 6 foot. We went in September 2021. 2 week. . There is plenty of parking. . We brought our cooler with beers and beach chairs. This was allowed. . There was 2 life guards there which was awesome. They lend out life vest so after done then put it back where it belongs. . The bathrooms are clean too. . Oh when entering in they do charge for parking if your not camping near by but if you were camping near by the parking free because the camping parking pass is included. We camped 15 mins away. . I'm very annoyed at the fact that the employees give misleading information over the phone ! I called Saturday , to inquire information about the paddle Boats in which no one specified that the boat rentals close at 6:30 . They didn't even inform mw about the waivers needed to use the paddle boats , I had to dig around the website to find that piece of information out . If you dislike your job then quit it's not our fault you have to work in 100+ degree weather ! The attitude has to go ' Drove all the way from Chico for nothing . Swam, stand up paddle boarded, fished and BBQd for 12 hours over the last 2 days. Awesome!! Enjoyed it with my fam and my Pitbull :) Lovely location. Good times. Nice park rangers and life guards. I think my mistake was that I set high expectations for the place based on my experience at a different aquatic center. I came on July 4th and understand that it was disorganized because of the high traffic. That's why I'm leaving a couple of stars for the effort. My group rented stand-up paddle boards. We wanted the tandem kayaks but were told none were available. However, when we were getting ready to head out on the water I noticed there were at least 2 empty tandem kayaks on the water front that did not get used the entire time we were getting ready to launch(which took us awhile because we are noobs). This place is not recommended for beginners. They literally just gave us the paddle and had the boards near the lakes edge and left us alone. We were to push the board into the water and climb on. I've only gone paddle boarding one other time and still need help navigating the paddle board. I know this because I got on backwards and one of the other employees were kind enough to shout it at me from shore. I would have preferred some help earlier on though. At the other place I rented from, they put the board on the water and help you get on it. The other place also adjusted the paddle to your height. This place did not have any of that. It doesn't seem like the rates are pro-rated. A little over half an hour was spent on the actual water yet we paid for the full hour. There should be a better strategy in place so that guests are paying for the actual use of the rental. Also, if you plan on doing stand-up paddle boarding and you are a noob with spaghetti arms like me... I would recommend you check out the water current first. It was a little too strong for me to paddle in and I kept getting beached at the lakes edges, luckily the water is shallow and I can easily get off and push away. A kind stranger standing in the water even helped push my board away from the edge while another group having a picnic on the land cheered me on. That was nice, good people out there! read more

While I prefer kayaking on a river, this is a good alternative & budget friendly option for those of us that do not own a kayak. The views are... well, it's Oroville. But the staff was friendly and we couldn't beat $28 for parking and two kayaks for an hour! They have a wide variety of equipment and I can definitely see this place getting busy on the weekends. This lake is great for family, friends, etc. picnic/BBQs . I like that you can rent assortment of different kayaks ,paddle boards, boats etc.. The area is well cleaned , a lot of private areas to have a picnic . The staff are very friendly and helpful. Dogs allowed on leash at all times. I like paddle boarding around the lake read more

Amazing! My son went here with his school and enjoyed a day of fun in the water with paddle boats, a dock to jump from, life jackets, all kids of floaties and the stand up paddle boards and canoes. What a great day! read more

What a great place to leave your troubles behind and paddle a board. When entering there is an $8.00 fee to park for the day. I rented a paddle board for the first time. The rate is by the hour... the girl at the front desk was friendly, explained how it works and even held my things so they would not get wet...( note taken get a waterproof holder for your phone if you want to take some fun photos). Once I was signed it...I met the dockhands...they give you a life vest and then show you and explain to you exactly how to paddle board. They are upbeat and happy to help! For my first time I stood up and had a blast! After a great time I paddled back in...easy check out and can not wait to go again. Thank you to the staff! Next time I will try a kayak! This place is awesome! Loved the Youth Aquatic Camp & the fact that you can rent kayaks there.

Decided to do a bbq for my birthday instead so we picked out this place. It was perfect. The place has been kept up well and they even had a life gaurd on duty. I was surprised the bathrooms were cleaned and well maintained. There's plenty of bbq grills and covered benches. There is also plenty of shade as well. I would recommend this place for a hangout for any outdoors event. read more

First time going yesterday. Reasonable prices, friendly staff. Website doesn't say there's an $8 day use entry fee. But luckily both entrance booth and rentals take credit cards. Be sure to sign their rental waiver on line ahead of time. Makes checking in faster. :) read more

Really enjoyed this place as a kid coming with my grandparents. Went last week with some friends for my brothers birthday, water equipment rentals are very reasonably priced and the staff is super nice and friendly. Will be returning a lot this summer! read more
