I found this park and it previously had good reviews for dogs, so we decided to check it out. The park is just a short drive off of I-70 from the first Vail exit. There is ample free parking along the side of the park. The park is not huge, but dogs are permitted to be off leash in the entire park except for a small children's play area. There is a large field for playing frisbee or ball and the sides of this open field are somewhat banked up to denote the boundary. There is a walking trail around a small pond that is also fair game for the dogs. I had leftovers from my dinner in Denver the night before, so I found this a perfect spot for a picnic lunch. There is a small shelter with picnic tables. There is also a bathroom hit with running water (not outhouse like) and relatively clean for a park bathroom. If you and your dogs are driving though Vail, this is a must stop!

Recommend finding food and a spot to sit earlier in the evening--lines for food are crazy near and after sunset. Expect to stand in line for 15+ minutes. Concert opener and headliners were pretty good considering technical difficulties. Employees were stationed at all trash receptors to ensure trash, food and recycling were allocated into the correct bins--that was neat to see! I hadn't ever experienced that.

A sweet little park in Lionshead Village that has just enough of everything. A few rope climbing…read morenets, a little rock climbing, net bridges, two slides and a few cool multi levels for climbing. Exposed to the sun but mitigated by the actual construction with the netting its good on sunny days. There are a few mom rest benches in the shade too. Its a wood chip bottom playground. There is also a splash pad in the plaza area right next to the park.

For some reason, I expected some changes, but the place looked exactly the same as I remembered it from over 10 years ago! Every square inch is just so picturesque! I did feel that there were a few negatives...for me (the non-skier). I just wished they had more boutiques that weren't so ski-oriented...and nicer coffee shops. Despite being such a swanky village, they also seemed to run short on nice bakeries and coffee shops. In fact, I was nearly shocked how basic some places were! Plenty of nice restaurants though...and many had cool European ambiance. Again, I'm not a skier, but I had no problems spending my time (up to 6 hours or more) walking around this pretty village. It truly felt as if I was in Germany or Switzerland. LOVE this place!!

I went twice while visiting vail. It's a short 10 min drive from vail. There were about 5 or 6 dogs there and they played well with our dog. My partner and I strolled around the perimeter one morning in Vail, admiring the mountains and frozen lake. The swing, bridge, and benches are very well-maintained. Vail, you are living up to the expectations. ** no parking at the TH (trail head). only drop off. see below ** How to get to the TH. Park at the Vail transportation center. See my Google photos. Just east of Village Center Dr. and Frontage Road. Go thru the gated parking. Come back to the west side of the transportation center and look for a "hiker" bus. There will be several other buses that look similar. May need to wait until the bus makes the loop. This is the only way to get to the TH. Hiker bus staffed by very friendly drivers will make a few stops before the TH drop off. On your return trip, will need to take the same shuttle back to the parking lot but will be marked as "East Vail" To find the TH, walk up to the north side (away from the main road), following the paved road for about 2000 feet while admiring beautiful homes. When you see the 5 min drop zone parking and the welcome sign, you are ready! Lots of elevation gain, walking thru the aspen forest and over a few creeks. About 2 miles to the fall, and another 2 miles to the lake. Enjoy! During the aspen season, there is not much water at the creek. If you want to see the columbine, need to be here around May.

It's more of a challenging hike being at altitude and there are a couple of steep inclines but it is relatively easy to navigate and the scenery is beautiful! Park at Vail Village and take the free bus to the trail. It's about 4 or so miles round trip and it was not too busy when we visited! Go early before the sun gets too intense in summer and it's a great experience!

I loved the sounds from the flowing stream that hugged the trail we walked on. Just as we were ready to end our walk, the Nature Center had opened up, so we stepped inside. The staff member who was in there was super nice and answered the many questions we had about wildlife in the area. There were taxidermied animals from the area, so it was neat to learn about them, too. They had plenty of reading materials, too. This was walking distance from the Manor Lodge, Ford Park, Betty Ford Alpine Gardens and Vail Village. If you're looking for an area to come walk, while you're visiting the area, this is a perfect place to stroll while drinking your morning coffee or tea. I hope to back in the near future.

Lucy was our guide this morning. she was very knowledgeable about the wildflowers we were seeing in…read morethe area. She handled all our questions, even from the children. The area was so lovely as we walked right next to Gore Creek. It was a beautiful, natural spot a very short way from the center of Vail Village . Parking was easy and the free buses took us right to the trail leading down to the Nature Center. The wildflower walk was about 1 hour but she told us about 2 or 3 other loop trails in the area. We will be back to see more.
