The Silverthorne recreation center was a complete hit for our family. After a long day of skiing, the kids still wanted to have fun and wanted to go swimming. They have a water slide that they allow younger children to go with adults on and it's quite fast. There's a hot tub area, a lab pool area, as well as a climbing wall in the swimming area for older children. They also have a steam room and a sauna. Changing area looks like it was done relatively recently. It's quite nice. They have men's room, a women's locker room and a communal room which is perfect for families with small children. If Keystone or Breckenridge area I would definitely be checking that out again. read more

This has to be one if the fullest gym. Why do I pay for a pass when it gets really full and can barely do your workouts when you already have people getting in line to use the machine. That's not it though, I mainly go with friends and family to go play basketball. But guess what! It's always being used to play volleyball or gymnastics. I get they rent it out but there need to be a limit. It's not just me who complains about this but also the people who drive 20 min to go play. It's really unfair. There needs to be a change on how much people can be using the facilities or people with passes. And to put a cherry on top, good luck with finding a parking spot! read more

It is extremely busy, very difficult to even be able to touch equipment in this place, useless volleyball and things going on all after noon , no parking , no nothing if you want to come and do something it would have to as soon as they open, they need better organization and have a capacity limit. read more

The most expensive and busiest gym I've ever been a part of. It's annoying to not be able to have benches open for lifting or an open lane to swim every single day. It's almost impossible to be able to lap swim in the afternoon or evening with all the kids and others trying to workout. Making training for the military/triathlons a nightmare and a headache. Your best bet for a productive workout session is on the weekends when there's a lot less people or early am. I'd think with how much they charge and how many people use the gym that they would make expansions or charge less for the inconvenience. read more

If you are on vacation with or without kids and it rains all day - the outdoors is not your first choice for fun. Head to the Rec Center and the swimming pools. They have a great water slide, a smaller water shute, a large paddling pool for the little ones and adults who don't want to swim plus a regular 50m pool with 3 lanes for lappers and area for water volleyball. The staff are super friendly. The changing rooms are well laid out, but FYI you need your own lock if you want to secure belongings. The pools don't have the overpowering smell of chlorine which is good ? I didn't use any of the other facilities there, just the pool. And a good time was had by my kid who didn't want to get out, even after 2 hours, so I reckon it was a hit. read more

Our family vacationed in Frisco CO for a week in June and there were a few rainy days, so we decided to spend an afternoon at this rec center. It turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip. First was the reasonable entry price for the public, so our family of 6 total was $55. I started on the top floor on weight machines and an epileptical which had updated video monitors. But the view of the mountains through the surrounding windows was really enough scenery to motivate. There was also a walking track on this level which does the trick when you can't walk outside. The second level had basketball courts. On the low level there was a lap pool with enough lanes not to be overcrowded, an area of water slides, a huge hot tub, again with beautiful views of the mountains and a deep pool with a fun climbing wall. There were also rosemary (I think) infused sauna rooms, if you don't mind the heat. Locker rooms, showers were clean and plentiful. We left the center envious that we didn't have something so updated and beautiful back home. Taxes seem to be higher in Colorado, but residents get back wonderful recreational amenities in their communities. read more

Overall, the equipment and services are phenomenal. The problem I run into going during the evenings (and taking an 11 year old along) are there are actually too many pre-planned activities going on. Recently, we tried playing basketball and got shoed away for a volleyball game. Then we went swimming (which was mostly not too crowded), but we "got in the way" of swim classes fairly frequently. They kept switching pools! After sitting on the wrong chairs (they were for the massage appointments and the employee was actually closing up for the night??), my little mentee was starting to feel unwelcome and I had to explain to her we just picked a "busy" night to go. I know from previous visit though, it is always that busy. Not sure if there is a good way to fix this problem, as too much business is a good problem to have. I just wish we didn't feel so "in the way." read more

With the coupon on their website my family of 8 spent 5 hours swimming here for just $40. The play pool, the water slide pool, and the deep pool are all very warm so you can enjoy swimming even on a cold day. The lap pool is cooler, which people swimming laps generally prefer. The changing rooms are clean with plenty of lockers. We also appreciated the tables upstairs so we could take a break and eat lunch, then go back to swimming. Access is for the whole day, so get a stamp go enjoy the outdoor park and come back in for more fun later. A great family experience. read more

We spent 2 hours of a cool rainy day during our vacation having a blast at this place with our toddler. The pool facility is actually 3 separate pools: a toddler pool, a deep pool, and a lap pool, which serves to separate various types of users quite well. . The pools are wonderful for all ages, but especially for younger kids. The shallow pool is huge, has a toddler sized slide, and is WARM! The big water slide is fun for all ages - my toddler daughter went down about a dozen times with me. There's also an indoor and outdoor hot tub. The rest of the facility seemed quite nice, but we didn't use it. It appeared to have a nice sized weight room. It also had a large basketball court, sauna and steam room. If I were local, I'm sure I'd use this facility quite often. As a one-day vacation diversion, I'd definitely recommend it as well. read more

I love the Rec Center. Two awesome tracks -- one indoor and one outdoor. The tracks are rarely crowded -- and the indoor track is bright and sunny most of the way. Cardio machines have been updated recently -- so new and modern. The weight room is a bit stale and sometimes the hard core lifters can be intense. But everyone is pleasant and shares equipment. Love the pool -- though it is a bit cold for lap swimming. And the swim program is excellent for our young swimmers. The front desk team is always friendly! All around this is a good place to burn calories. Be warned -- it can get crowed with visitors. Most are courteous -- but some can be super obnoxious. Pick your times smartly and you should be fine. read more

***A NOTE TO THE OLDER FRONT DESK LADY,*** For the two minutes you had to endure my child's obnoxious sound, are 2 minutes that gives us hope. Hope that one day the hours of speech therapy that we spend on a weekly basis will turn that sound into a word. One word! I know my son is loud, but think before you speak. My family and I have been here numerous times. Most of the time it has been great, but as others have said the service is really hit or miss. Today's service was an all time low. My husband came in with my 6 year old daughter and 3 year old non-verbal special needs son. As my husband checked in, my kids were playing in the side area. When my son gets excited he squeals and can be loud. The older lady at the front desk said, "Can he be quiet?" My husband said, "No, he is special needs and that's how he communicates." The older ignorant lady then said, "Yeah. I know that, but he is really loud." If we are at a fancy restaurant this comment makes sense. BUT, we are at a rec center. We were in the lobby less than 2 minutes. I think rec centers are suppose to be an avenue for families to have fun, not be a place of judgement. I should also note that if lessons are going on, most of the pool will be closed off including the slide. I don't know if I will be back. This experience is so uncalled for on so many levels. read more

I've several bad experiences with this place. Their customer service sucks. The locker rooms are so humid and hot its disgusting. I have to mention how wet everything is in the locker room, the floors are always soaked, the bottoms of the lockers are soaked, there is hair stuck to everything, its really gross. There are also little girls running around screaming in there almost anytime of the day. Clearly the biggest draw for this place is the kid friendly pool. The fitness classes are all geared towards the 55+ crowd, i am often by far the youngest person at them and Im 33. I have no problem with older people mind you, but the classes could stand to be more challenging. The front desk people are never helpful and answer direct questions vaguely, "when does my month end?" "Oh, dont worry you have a few days" then on the day it expires...dont expect them to tell you, I mean, its not their job, right? You showing up the next day to work out, without your wallet because you have no idea when your month is over, isnt their problem, they were clear about that. I love having my time wasted, dont you? If the breck rec center isnt too far our of your way, I recommend it over this one any day. read more
