Rainbow Park has the most gorgeous backdrop I've ever seen. There is plenty of parking, about 2.5 lots, 2 playgrounds, a skate park and a big open field. There are 2 gazebos that are for rent. There are public restrooms and they are very nice and CLEAN!! I would recommend stoping by if you have a lazy afternoon.

Playground for all ages, and with great views of the gorgeous mountains! Next to Silverthorne Rec Center and Skate Park. This playground might very well be the best in all of Summit County. New(er) equipment with something for all ages. Slide, climb, swing, spin- you can do it all here!! And part of it's wheelchair accessible so everyone can play. You can easily spend a couple hours here without anyone getting bored. Most of the play areas are large enough for the adults to join in on the fun. Bathrooms, water fountains and shaded picnic tables as well. 3 different play areas (one for ages 2-5, and 2 for 5-12) plus a sand area; and if you walk up the path a ways there is an additional segregated playground for little kids.

This is a great snow play park for kids. It's right off the freeway across a shopping out let. Outer area of the field has a small hill where kids can sled. The weather was sunny and not a single breeze. There's plenty of parking and sitting areas with shade. This was actually the highlight of our trip to Colorado, since snow was pretty scarce this year.

Visiting from TX and found this awesome playground. Had a blast sledding down the hills. What a memorable spring break!

FANTASTIC playground. We all had a blast, even as adults! Two year old enjoyed everything his size.

The skate park looked great, but it's separate and kids seemed nice and respectful.

July 24, 2026 - Silverthorne, CO…read more We first stayed at Heaton Bay Campground about seven years ago, so we were looking forward to camping right along the water again. Unfortunately, because of the severe drought and low winter snowpack, Dillon Reservoir is currently about 20 feet below its normal level. Our campsite was no longer waterfront, but we had a short hike down to what is now more like a small pond. There are a few more drawbacks, too. There isn't a nearby dump station or an RV water fill, although there are water spigots for filling jugs. Campfires were prohibited during our stay because of the high fire danger, and you can hear some traffic noise from the nearby highway. Even with those disappointments, I still give this campground five stars. Why? Because, the campsites themselves are outstanding. They're spacious, private, and thoughtfully laid out, with plenty of room between sites. The views of the surrounding mountains are absolutely spectacular, and the campground has a peaceful, wooded setting that's hard to beat. If you're looking for a scenic campground with large sites and don't mind the lack of full amenities, Heaton Bay is an excellent choice. We'd happily stay here again.

New management just took over and disappointed in the changes they have made. It's a beautiful site…read moreand great location but the one star is due to management. They will not let you will up your RV with water although it says you can on their website. Make sure you fill up before getting to the campsite. Very frustrating to pull the extra weight.
