There are lots of climbing options, from the fish sculptures to the log maze to the tall climber with a slide. If you've got a bicycle, there's a little offroad bike park with bumps and jumps. Good swings, a few other play features; shaded picnic benches. The bathroom was clean and appreciated. Nice to have water fountain and bottle filler too! While we were there, a small storm passed with some showers and tiny hail; we took shelter under the nearby bridge and washed the river burble by for a few minutes. Would gladly stop here again!

(we did, there was an accident and there aren't really alternative ways to get this way so you're stuck sitting & waiting) The video you have to watch was short and painless. It still amazed me how much of other people's stuff I found laying around. Gloves, ear phones. Like people tuck your stuff away securely, lol. It's pretty simple! I'd highly recommend coming on a weekday or off peak time when you can get more slides down. I can't even imagine what it'd have been like on a peak time weekend. It takes awhile to wait in line to go down and going back up the conveyor (that you can't move or walk on, you just stand and let it go at its own speed). Really fun time and not too death defying!! Pretty views too, obviously.

Unfortunately, because of the severe drought and low winter snowpack, Dillon Reservoir is currently about 20 feet below its normal level. Our campsite was no longer waterfront, but we had a short hike down to what is now more like a small pond. There are a few more drawbacks, too. There isn't a nearby dump station or an RV water fill, although there are water spigots for filling jugs. Campfires were prohibited during our stay because of the high fire danger, and you can hear some traffic noise from the nearby highway. Even with those disappointments, I still give this campground five stars. Why? Because, the campsites themselves are outstanding. They're spacious, private, and thoughtfully laid out, with plenty of room between sites. The views of the surrounding mountains are absolutely spectacular, and the campground has a peaceful, wooded setting that's hard to beat. If you're looking for a scenic campground with large sites and don't mind the lack of full amenities, Heaton Bay is an excellent choice. We'd happily stay here again.

We spent the day with my son fishing and playing in the water. We grilled some hotdog while we were there and it was absolutely a perfect day. We will definitely be back.
