Halibut Seafood Platter includes fish, chips, shrimp, scallop and clams!!

I've been to Bancroft a handful of times before but this is the first time we decided to stop by the fish and chip restaurant and it the best choice! The fish was cooked perfectly. Loved the batter, it was flaky and easy to break apart. We ordered the halibut seafood platter and it was so delicious! Large portion perfect for two people. They just had whitefish in their store now, not the freshwater kind but the one from South Africa, next time we pass by Bancroft we are definitely going to come back and have our fish and chip fixings!! The building is super cute and even has a small door for the kids to walk through! Inside is beautiful decorated just like a cottage :) Staff are so nice and friendly and it was the owner (Diane)'s birthday today so we sang her happy birthday :) love the community up here! If you want a good place to eat during your pitstop or during your stay in or near Bancroft I would definitely recommend this place!

My husband and I were craving some tasty fish and chips and decided to stop for lunch before heading home. We saw fresh pickerel on the menu but instead chose the tender Halibut and local Ontario spuds with their homemade coleslaw and original tartar sauce. The generous and down-to-earth owner served us personally. She tended to my husband's halibut with such care, it was obvious she loved her job. While the food was great, their restaurant was a tad quaint, although this was definitely part of the charm. We picnicked behind the restaurant, admiring their beautiful view of York River. The fresh fish was expertly fried, and the hand-cut french fries were so good that we fought over them like kids.

Large portion of fresh halibut and chips.

We were drawn into Woody's by all the "flair" that surrounded the little place - wood animal…read morestatues abound! Menu prices were a bit on the high side especially since posted prices did not include taxes! We ordered 3 regular burgers (no cheese or bacon), a large poutine, large fries and 3 drinks and our tab was close to $50! I had to veto the ice cream dessert! The burgers definitely tasted home made - a bit on the drier side but they were generous with the toppings so that made up for it. There's a nice outdoor seating area to eat in. Staff are very friendly and offered things like extra napkins and paper plates to divide up our meal. They let us use the indoor bathroom for our little guy instead of the dark and scary outhouse! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area for a meal you don't have to cook yourself!

More like a chip truck out back of the tourist curio shop…read more Meats are usually reminiscent of the stuff at the bottom of the freezer, so a little dry. Atmosphere: Roadside chip-truck. Picnic tables to eat outside, if the weather is good. Alongside Eels' Creek in North Kawartha, village of Apsley across the creek. Staff: Friendly, in a city-folk way. Food: Chip-truck fare a la carte. Salad, burgers, hot-dogs, chicken-on-a-bun, fries, poutine, canned soft-drinks. Be prepared to wait, check out the tourist curio shop. Fries are inconsistent; either overcooked or kept under a heat lamp too long. Prices: Very high for this area, don't forget to add 13%HST to whatever you order. Bacon burger, fries, and soft-drink $21.00 after taxes. Tip: Plastic cup for your spare change, at these prices thy want your change? Facilities: Portable chemical toilet with hand sanitizer, mmm good! Suppose you could wash-up in Eels' Creek.
