We eat at Dave's often. Always amazing food, amazing service, and the prices are super reasonable. One of the better places in Bancroft.

Loved the elevated flavors! We arrived at the beginning of lunch and by the time we wrapped up,…read morethis place was packed! Upon driving up to The Granite, you can see it's located right on the river with a deck facing it, and it looks to be an older converted house. We were all digging the 70's/ 80's era rock tunes throughout our meal and helped give the experience a nostalgic ambience. I ordered a unique mocktail with a hosemade raspberry and basil syrup- it was so good and different than anything I'd tasted before. For my entree, I had the Ginger Sesame Pasta. WOW! This was such a delicious dish! Everything about it was delicious. The peppers and onions were grilled to perfection, and the chicken was tender and juicy having just been fried on a golden batter. All this layered onto some Cantonese Style Noodles- it was the dish I didn't know I needed! Our meal at The Granite was hearty and delicious! It kept us going for the long drive back to Toronto. Next time I'm in Bancroft, I'll definitely be back to have this dish and drink again. They were so good!

This place was recommended by our hosts, and it was one of the few places that was open late in town so we decided to give it a shot. The restaurant looks to be in a converted house and it was very busy. We didn't have a reservation but luckily there was a no show so we ended up taking their slot. I ended up ordering the sausage trio. Because it was so busy it took a while for our food to arrive, but it was worth the wait. Portion wise it was quite large and the presentation nice. In addition to the variety of sausages, there was also mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts, and some sauerkraut. The tastes of all the elements blended nicely together and I found everything to be quite delicious. The house made spicy mustard sauce was a nice touch and kicked things up a notch. I would come back again if I ever made my way back to Bancroft

Wattle & Daub Cafe - Chicken pesto panini sandwich with slaw

I had a Rueben. Ruebens should be grilled, and have sauerkraut, corned beef, Russian dressing and…read moreSwiss cheese on rye bread, then grilled like a grilled cheese. This one had the bread toasted first, so that the cheese wasn't completely melted and the sandwich was much drier than it should be. Also, there was no Russian dressing; they used ball park mustard instead. That taste was jarring and because mustard isn't mayo based, the sandwich was drier still. So near and yet so far...

Highly recommend!…read more If you are near or passing by Bancroft, please do yourself a favor and enjoy a meal at this restaurant. The staff are friendly, the food is delicious and fresh and the locals seem to love it too! Came here on a Monday around noon. It was a little tricky to find since Google maps instructed us to the parking lot on the hill behind the cafe, but it wasn't hard to correct the mistake. The restaurant is by the water, close to a playground for kids and had some nice outdoor seating options. I ordered the sun-dried tomato panini sandwich (I recommend adding some protein like chicken or bacon to it) and my partner ordered the chicken pesto panini sandwich (which I loved!). The homemade slaw was a nice compliment to the grilled sandwiches (their slaw is on the sweeter side). Not pictured are the drinks & sweet treats we very much enjoyed: -creamy chai latte -white hot chocolate (5 stars!) -chocolate chip cookie (drool) -nanaimo bar (I believe they are gluten free? Please double check, and it will last me for days - it's on the more decadent side) Overall, I'm one very happy customer and can't wait to return on my next Algonquin trip!
