WOW - this garden center is fabulous. It's expansive and worth the trip. Not only can you get plants but you can pet goats and picnic. The pictures tell the picture!

Sweet spot for an afternoon

Just off the beaten path you will find the potting shed with Champagne Mimosas and sweets. With reasonable prices and animals to visit it's a great spot to stop

House Warming Holly Tree for Christmas and a wreath for the front door- (wreaths are currently 1/2 price!)

In need of a seasonal gift for my sister who JUST closed on here new home hours ago. I'm in Buffalo (Go Bills) and she's in Durham, NC. I googled "Top 10 Nursuries Near Durham" and reviewed the list. Many only had seasonal hours and weren't even open. For Garden's Sake was number one on the list and now it's number one in my heart. Amy Sikorski answered the phone, listen to what I wanted, (which was something to act as a Christmas Tree, indoors for a few weeks, then could be added to my sisters landscaping) went out and took pictures of options and texted them to me. Out of all the options I selected what she had initially recommended. (She knows whats up!) She added a bow a card and even told me of thier latest holiday special which lead to me adding a 1/2 priced door wreath to my order. Done-Delivered! It will be a Christmas House Warming Gift that will take some of the holiday decorating stress off of my sister as she moves in over the next few days. Thanks Amy! Harry

Wow! This place is a gem! I can't believe I hadn't visited here before! They have a wonderful selection of outdoor flowers, tress, shrubs, and all sorts of plants. They definitely have a unique variety and section it off in a super helpful way. They had a shaded garden which was awesome and gave us a ton of ideas of stuff to buy for our yard. The prices were reasonable and comparable to other plant shops in the area. I know they also have a unique selection of houseplants, but we didn't check those out this visit. It's the end of September so they have a really awesome display of pumpkins and gourds. As well as all the pansies you could wish for. They also have their powder blue ford truck decked out with pumpkins and hay bales, the perfect Fall photo opp. This is also a wonderful place to bring kids. They place was pretty packed with families. I will say almost everyone had a mask on and everyone was respectful of space. All the employees had masks on as well. For kids they have goats and chickens to take a look at, a small playground, a koi pond with a waterfall, snack shack, and plenty of space to picnic. It's seriously a wonderful spot to spend the morning. We grabbed a slushy from the potting shed and it was delicious, more Italian Ice than slushy though. You can even get champagne added into your slushy for a lovely adult treat. They had plenty of socially distant tables set up to enjoy your snacks. We went on a Sunday and they also had a food truck which was a great bonus!! My family and I will definitely head back here soon, it's a perfect spot to check out what's in season and have some socially distant fun. Oh and bonus, leashed pets are welcome!!

This place is awesome! We have bought plants from them in the past and their staff were always very knowledgeable and helpful! Most recently we have visited a few times to let our toddler play on the playground, watch the ducks, and feed the goats! It's usually pretty quiet and other families keep their distance during covid times. If you ask the staff they will give you some animal crackers to feed the goats! There's also an old cemetery on the grounds. It was really flooded on our recent visit, so I didn't walk in, but looking forward to exploring next time. We are also looking forward to a time when we feel comfortable visiting for a class or an event!

Nice layout in this garden center. Ample supply of plants and most popular things that grows in your yard. Cool animal area goats , etc , for the kids to see. Not many unusual plants here, mostly more popular ones that everyone has. They have a great selection of pots also. Indoor plants inside the building, they look very healthy and vibrant.

This place. ROCKS. It's a gardening center as well as a social gathering place. In terms of gardening center, they have a great selection of indoor and outdoor plants. My favorite part is that they mark which plants are pet friendly... very important to me with a dog who loves eating plants! Their staff members are very knowledgeable and welcoming. They also have a beverage bar and have events there too! I'm addition to that, they have a petting zoo area with a pond. This place is my happy place, and I highly recommend.

I've always been driving to Home Depot for my plants and flowers but after coming here one morning on a weekend, I think I found my new go to place for all things garden related! I made sure to arrive early in the morning to avoid the worst of the humidity and heat. Once you pull in, you'll be directed to the gravel parking lot in the back. When I was there in the morning, there was plenty of parking. The staff are very friendly here. One girl helped me to find some perennials for my garden. They have a huge selection of plants, definitely a lot more than your Home Depot or Lowes. Since it was my first purchase there, I even got a free bar of gardeners shea butter soap! The girl at the checkout also told me that they have drinks like Mimosas at the nearby shed after a certain time of day. All the info is on their website. Definitely recommend this place if you're looking to get into gardening or just want to take relaxing stroll through some gorgeous plants and flowers.

Mimosas from The Potting Shed!

There is soooo much to love about this little gem. From the goats to the wide variety of plants to the sweet little Potting Shed, For Garden's Sake has everything you need for a perfect Sunday. I picked up a good sized snake plant and two other really unique looking plants, all indoor and easy to take care of. I also got two pretty pots for my new additions - they have a huge selection! I can't wait to return soon!

Not that going later in the season is bad, it's just not quite as impressive. With all that said, though, Witherspoon is impressive. Even late in the season they have dozens of different types of roses and in a lot of different colors. All in one place. It's not until you actually see the flower up close and compare it with the blooms on nearby plants that you can really appreciate the variations in the roses themselves. Some have single petals, some have multiple, others are textured, and some smooth. And the colors are as varied as they blooms themselves. A nice feature of Witherspoon are the large easy to see and read pictures they have near the rose bush so even when it's not blooming, you'll get a good idea of what the rose looks like. The staff here is willing to help and full of great advice. Also as a nice touch, were the recommendations for companion flowers to the rose. Along the walkway toward the shop were some of those -- mostly simple, single petal blooms that would nicely compliment the the more complex bloom of a rose. You can buy your roses potted and in bloom, or if you're out of town, order direct from the Witherspoon supplier. Whatever type of garden you have, Witherspoon will have a rose for it -- a tea rose, hybrid rose, climbing rose, shrub rose, and more. They have a nicely laid out garden here, set on a hill and with nearby trees that make it hard to believe you're next to a shopping center. Even if you don't buy a rose plant, you'll enjoy the nice setting and a spectacular display of color and fragrance.

The store was clean and well organized, it was easy to get in and out of, and the customer service was good. My wife first came here to get a pot and soil for our Monstera plant. We later returned three times in an 11-day span to buy moving supplies. Those items included: Moving Boxes * Heavy Duty Small Box 17x11x11 - 4 at $2.48 each * Heavy Duty Medium Box 21x15x16 - 4 at $3.48 each * Heavy Duty Large Box 27x15x16 - 1 at $4.98 * Standard Medium Moving Box 21x15x16 - 3 at $1.98 each Other * 24x24 100% Recycled Packing Paper - 70 sheets for $10.98 * Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Packaging Tape with Dispenser - 54 yards for $6.94 Home Depot's moving boxes worked out great for our move. They were easy to assemble, tape, and break down. They were sturdy and held up well after being handled by a moving company for our move from Chapel Hill to Atlanta. I liked that Home Depot's box handles felt more comfortable and ergonomic than other boxes, like Bankers Boxes, I've moved with. Needless to say, I recommend Home Depot boxes for moving. At this Mt Moriah location, we used both self checkout and regular checkout. I like Home Depot's emailed electronic receipts. One of the late weeknights we came here, just before the store closed, there was a bus in the parking lot with a bunch of what looked like high school kids either coming from or about to head out on a road trip.

During our final consultation meeting with Diane a little over a month before the big day, it made me even happier that we found this team to work with. We talked more about my vision, colors, flowers I liked, etc. and I let them run with that and let their creativity run wild. What I got in result were florals and arrangements even more beautiful than I ever could have imagined! The pieces used for our ceremony were stunning, and I loved that we were able to have them moved during the reception to enjoy them even more! My bouquet (I believe it was made by Amanda) and my MOH bouquets were gorgeous. I wish I could have frozen them in time and kept them forever. I especially loved how they incorporated my favorite flower, peonies, into the bouquet and different table arrangements. I can't thank the team at Bowerbird enough for creating so much beauty to frame our wedding day. I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Love, Chelsey & Jason
