We had an absolutely terrible experience with this "business". In trying to plan a fundraising event, we sadly chose to use For Fun AK as part of our entertainment. What came to pass was months of playing phone tag, followed by For Fun AK singlehandedly cleaning our organization, a NONPROFIT serving area seniors, out of any possible funds we had raised from the occasion. These people are unprofessional, make business personal when it ought not be, are disorganized, and should not be trusted with your business or event.
Rather than write a multi-page review, here are just the highlights:
-they were impossible to get a hold of in a timely fashion. When my calls were returned, they were returned after our business hours, as late as 6 or 7pm on some days. Not only were calls returned late or not at all, the vast majority of calls were made to my PERSONAL cell phone, which I use as a last-ditch contact number for the day-of an event. In a twist of irony, we were charged a "no-call" fee of $200 on the basis that "we did not call to arrange pick up or drop off of the equipment after the event was over". This is especially ludicrous because the owner of For Fun AK called multiple of our employees' personal cell phones over and over again at her convenience, but when someone attempted to call her back, would not answer her own phone.
-Upon calling their 'office number', the employee who answered was very confused by my questions about our reservation for the bouncy house. He couldn't answer any of my questions, nor was he able to say when the business owner would return to do so.
-We were required to pay a 50% deposit for the rental, which we did with a credit card. Little did we know that For Fun AK would keep that credit card information and use it to charge the card for spurious "fees" at their convenience.
-What are these "fees" you ask? Good luck finding a description-upon making your reservation, For Fun will send you an auto-generated email which contains an inconspicuous link to a PDF of their "policies". Nowhere in those policies does it state what fees might be charged on top of your rental fees, or what for. When disputing the fees they charged us, we were told that "the fees were listed on the attached document and you had access to that this whole time." In reality, the attached document was a checklist we had NEVER received, with a line for our signature. Not only did we never receive this document, but, when For Fun faxed over a filled-out checklist, they had signed the signature line FOR US. The signature read, "Unavailable".
-To elaborate on the above, For Fun "offered to make it easier for us" by dropping off the equipment at our location. This was not requested by us. We simply requested that they let us know if they would, in fact, be dropping it off, or if we ought to make arrangements to pick up the equipment at their location. They insisted that they could drop it off for us. On the day it was supposed to be dropped off, not only did I attempt to contact the owner multiple times, but I waited at work an extra 2 1/2 hours before receiving any kind of call-back from her. She had stated that she would be to our location "by 5pm" to drop off the equipment. By 5:30, I had to call an employee who lives near our location & have him come in to meet her, as I was unable to stay longer. He stated that For Fun AK did not arrive on site until after 7pm.
-Over a month after our event, For Fun claimed in an email that "the whole situation (that transpired between our place of business and theirs) could have been avoided if an equipment pick-up had been requested for a charge of $60". This option was never given to us, nor was it part of the fees & event checklist they "furnished".
-The original cost of our rental from For Fun Alaska was $300. By the time For Fun got done charging us for "no-call" fees, fees for "equipment being abandoned" (it was in a safe spot on our grounds and rolled up to the best of our staff's ability), "late equipment return" and MORE, our credit card was charged without our permission and without warning for over $700. $700 got us a faulty self-serve bouncy house and bouncy maze, dropped off without proper instructions or help in setting it up, and picked up at 7pm 2 days after our event was already over.
$700 got us terrible customer service, accusations thrown our way, poor communication, and a "business" that seems to specialize in making everything personal when it ought not be. I would never recommend For Fun AK to anyone. Had we known about another Alaska business called Alaska Mobile Inflatables, we would have rented from them. It seems there are far better options in the area, whose prices are much more reasonable, and whose business policies are far more clear and not aimed at making a profit from bad business practice. read more
