The staff at the front desk was super friendly and happy to take a look, even though this wasn't a normal appointment or purchase. Dr. Moon was great. The screws on my old metal frames were incredibly tight, but he knew exactly what to do. He loosened them up and carefully transferred my lenses into the new frames in just a few minutes. What I thought might turn into a hassle ended up being quick and easy, and I appreciated how patient and professional he was. The whole visit reminded me why it's worth going to a good local optician. Because of how helpful everyone was, I definitely plan to come back later this year for my annual eye exam and to get new frames and progressive lenses through them. It's nice to find a place that treats people well and pays attention to the details.

At my last visit I told the doctor I did not need a contact fitting because I had enough contacts to last the year and did not need it. She performed a fitting anyway because she threw out my old contacts and I had to pay out of pocket for it. Then I called a little over a year later and needed contacts. Normally I would go in for a visit but I am pregnant and my doctor told me my eyes can change, not to have an eye exam performed because they may change again or go back. So I called to see if I could purchase a box of contacts and the doctor won't fill them because it has been a year and I should come in for an exam. I explained my situation and she still refused. It seems like she is just about making money... so I will be going somewhere else from now on!!

I've been a loyal customer here since the Dr. Finch days and the era of the incredibly cool Dave. Even though Dave has retired and his wonderful daughter Jamie now runs the business from behind the scenes, you can absolutely still feel their standards living on through the staff. I walked in fresh from my 'bad breakup' with that other place, and Lex immediately swung into action. She actually repaired my old glasses on the spot (new nose pads and a tighten-up) so I had something to wear while waiting for my order. Then she whisked me over to the contact lens specialist (I am mortified that I forgot your name--please forgive me, I promise to get it right when I pick up my order!) and then to Kim, their amazing Optician. I ended up going all in: transition lenses with new frames AND prescription sunglasses. The whole experience reminded me why I loved interacting with Dave all those years ago. Lesson learned: You can't put a price on this kind of care. This is why supporting local, family-owned businesses is so important. I'm back for good!

This is quite a long review but necessary…read more I've been going to eye doctors since I first entered college. Over the years, I have been a patient with many doctors. During that time, I have had good experiences and bad experiences, the worst being in November, 2023, a few days after Thanksgiving, when I was seemingly rushed through the entire examination process with two negative results. First, I was neither able to see clearly with my eyeglasses nor my contact lenses. Second, and most horribly, even though I wore an N-95 mask, I contracted Covid with the first symptoms rearing their ugly heads three days later. As a result, I was stuck in my room for 23 days and didn't test negatively until December 23rd! Little did I know, I had mild Chronic Kidney Disease at the time and this dropped me down an entire stage in severity. I have not recovered to this very day. This horrific experience caused me to stop seeing eye doctors for fear of having my kidneys affected once again. Well, 2 1/2 years later, my eyesight had gotten so bad that my eyeglasses and contacts became totally useless. I was now experiencing migraine headaches. I just had to see an eye doctor. So, I did some research and settled on Visionworks in nearby Turnersville, NJ. What I can state, without question, is that this Visionworks office is the Mercedes of eye care facilities! From making my first appointment online, to receiving the end products, everything was great. When I first walked into the "showroom," I was warmly greeted by the receptionist, Caryl, who was smiling and seemed genuinely happy to see me. I was not questioned by anyone about my wearing a mask. My initial impression of the facility was that it was large, bright, clean and welcoming. I had already filled out the required forms online so I didn't need to waste time with those. I waited about 2 minutes when I was taken back to a room where my eyes were tested by reading an eye chart. I had an eye air puff test to check for glaucoma and I was tested for color blindness. I was then brought into the eye exam room. Who greeted me was a doctor who wore a mask and gloves and wiped down all of the equipment with alcohol that would touch my face! That immediately relieved ALL of my stress and concerns completely! Here the major evaluations were performed like I had never seen before. I saw images of the back of my eyes on a computer and this most wonderful doctor of optometry (who, sadly, asked to remain nameless) explained every single test as she performed them. She gave me the very BEST eye exam I had ever received! She was thorough, kind, understanding and most professional. She answered every question without hesitation. Back in the showroom, Caryl told me to take my time to look at the huge number of frames in every price, style and brand. I was overwhelmed by the enormous selection. I made my selection and was then greeted by a smiling Jocelyn who sat me at a desk and thoroughly explained the items that made up my bill, showing what my insurance paid and what I would owe. The final price was most reasonable comparable to what I had paid in past years. Jocelyn was so down-to-earth and felt like a friend I had known for years. She informed me of approximately when my trial pair of contacts and glasses would be ready. The bottom line is that I am able to see clearly with BOTH my contact lenses and my eyeglasses for the first time since 2006! Every person with whom I came in contact was unbelievable in how I was treated. I am extremely happy. This office now has my business. If I were asked to offer a grade for its services, it would be an easy choice: A+. Thank you to everyone at Visionworks of Turnersville, NJ! Respectfully, Jim Planamente PS: By the way, they offer a 100-Day Guarantee with no strings attached. I know because I returned my frames after one week. I made the wrong choice in their size and weight on my nose. I was not questioned and Jocelyn happily took care of everything for me. I have another frame arriving soon and was not charged a single penny for the service!
