Beware of the Nats! Thought it was weird the driving range was empty at 630am in Arizona during summer. Changed bays 5 times. It was swarming with Nats getting in my nose, inside my sunglasses hitting my eyes, ears and on clothing. No way to focus. Thought it was weird when I called the golf course at 6am and someone answered in another country. Asked if they had a driving range and she said "hold on" let me check...... My disappointment level couldn't be any lower. The amount of dead patches are more than green grass. The greens have dead areas that are 100% dirt. It's so dry a wedge won't hold the green. You have to play front edge yardage to try and hold. We had to adjust our game where you can move your putts to avoid the dead patches. $108. That's about $80 too much. Save your cash. read more

The actual course was 2 stars but it's one star because of them not knowing their youth on course policy. I called ahead and I know they use a call center but they confirmed that after 12 youth on course is valid for walk ons. I played with my grandpa and had him book so I could walk on at 2:30. The guy at check in says that it's not valid til 3 and that he's just not going to do that because it's a weekend and there is 220 people playing, I showed them their youth on course info on the app and he says "that's not our website so it's not right". Every other course that has youth on course has it updated on the app. Every course chooses to have youth on course, it's not required. And every member course chooses their availability so yes it is their fault. If you're going to have a youth on course, do it right, just don't say it's not your app because you choose to be on the app and can edit your availability on the app. They just didn't honor their own policy read more

Pretty good layout, decent practice facilities, greens are typically in good shape and tees are okay (some mediocre, some great). I really like that it's not like those other "flat as a cookie sheet" courses on the valley. The clubhouse is kind of meh but the food is consistently decent. The pro shop is large but I've only ever paid for tee times or range buckets NOTE: Troon has taken over and it's currently closed (until Oct 2024) because they are doing all of the tees and greens over, which is exciting because those two components needed the most love. I am really excited for it to reopen because I think it could end up being my go to course if it's not too expensive. read more

This is our new favorite place! They opened a restaurant with a golf simulator called The Bunker this summer and it is a definite hidden treasure. Everything is so clean and brand new and the service is absolutely amazing! Our favorite bartender/waitress is Brooke. We go at least once or twice a week. The food is some of the best in town. Although Foothills has been here for a while, it has recently become a Troon course. I think there is still some improvements needed. They're going to have to dump some money into this place to bring it up to Troon standards. The carts aren't equipped with GPS gear. There was no Marshall to keep pace of play. The restaurant was even closed before we finished our round at around 5pm. With that being said, I still like the course. My buddy got a Hole-in-One on Hole #4 today. It was his first and he was elated. He's 70ish years old. If you like a good challenge this GC will keep you on your toes. It's a forgiving course. It'll cost you about $86 and change with a Troon card to play. read more

I will admit, I was not able to play the course so I'm rating on my husband and son's golf experience. I did experience a glass of wine and snack on the patio and it was quite lovely. Happy hour prices were an added bonus. Staff was super friendly. The patio was beautiful and looked out to the setting sun and shadows of the foothills. For the golf... it was a draw to play because it's owned by Troon but it does have a bit of work to do to get up to that standard. It had a nice layout. Greens were a little rough and fairways were patchy, but there is a lot of potential. The practice facility needs some work. My son is a long ball hitter and could not use his driver there because it was too short. We look forward to playing in about a year from now to see how much it's improved. read more

5 stars for the course and 1 star for the bar/restaurant. The golf course has done a complete 180 from recent years. All fairways and rough has been over seeded and is in great shape. Greens are all smooth and roll true. This is currently the best value in golf right now. I will definitely be back soon and this will be a go to course for me. As for after the round you will want to head elsewhere. We had to hunt someone down twice just to get a few after round beers. The restaurant was empty and I never saw a server the entire time we were there. Hungry, thirsty golfers don't want to have to hunt down staff for service. read more

We booked for 7 players, on the Tuesday morning. The lay out of the course is nice.it flowed well through the Arizona landscape , the fairways were in good shape considering how dry the area was, and the staff was friendly as well. But, if you are going to charge over 70$ , the greens should be in reasonable putting condition. They were not. 17 out of 18 greens were unplayable. Like really bad shag carpet. Or no grass at all. As well there were no garbage cans, and no ball washers? WTH? Pick up your game Foothills, you are a better course than this. read more

After playing this course and gave it some thought. There are some pros and cons here. Course is not in that great shape. Sand bunkers are more like rock bunkers. Very wet at some areas, and the greens were sporadic. The driving range is dreadful, no grass to hit off of. The only covid safety going on is you must wear masks going inside. Most courses have pool noodles inside the cups to prevent you from having to put your hand inside the cup. This facility does not. They also have sand bunkers rakes out, as most other golf courses do not at this time. Businesses really need to step up here in Arizona and do their part to prevent the spread of covid. Now the prices are decent, and the course is actually fun to play. read more

The breakfast was amazing. That's where the fun stopped. Troon should be ashamed of themselves for opening this course in the condition its in and charging $87.00. What a joke! The guy at check in told me there were 5 or 6 greens that didn't quite come on yet. Ha! Every green was painted green with sand all over. Terrible! The fairways are slightly better than before. The views are so beautiful at sunset. We went on their very first happy hour and had a blast. Seating was limited but they accommodated by bringing more out. The live music was wonderful. The food was tasty as we got there early enough to order. The bartender was a bit new so she didn't know how to make a Long Island but after explaining she was able to prepare it for us. read more

They gave amazing discounts on the food and course because of what they called "poor greens" There was 3 temporary greens and 1 in pretty bad shape. I travel to many states and play golf three times a week. The only reason I played this course was because Troon had their name on it. After 40 years of playing this game, this was the worst course I ever played. It was so neglected, it was hard to believe it was even open. 18 out of 18 greens were destroyed. The people were grumpy, we were pushed on the course (and were only a twosome, course not well kept. Many of the walls facing the golf course are in disrepair. Looks like the place needs to be sold and refurbished. Very sad, they should just shut it down and not take peoples money to play there. Was very suspect to me and i asked around to some people and was told that they were getting free water from the city. Then they had to start paying for the water and could not afford it. If that's true then that explains a lot. I do not have time to dig in to find out the whole story behind this golf course, nor do i really have time to write this review. Now, they've decided to only allow you to use their range if you have a tee time before 3:30. After 3:30 you can use their range. Coming from Southern California I was pleasantly surprised by how great Foothills Golf Club actually is!! First time playing golf Arizona was a success. When the boys told me we'd be golfing in Arizona, my immediate sarcastic thought was "oh good, desert and cactus" but it's really nice. Sure there are some patches but overall it's green and a well-kept hidden treasure in my opinion. Foothills is better than some of the courses out here in Orange County. Life hack tip: Go in with zero expectations and you'll probably leave happy. The greens roooooooll and there is no shortness of views. The pricing is affordable. Staff is friendly and helpful. The only thing that sucked was pace of play. We tee'd off before 3:00pm and were constantly waiting for the groups ahead of us to finish and had the group behind us on our tails the entire round of 18. We finished our round in the dark. Guys, either you need to get better or lose the friend who's holding you back. read more

The "ranger" Ben, is a piece of work. We had to wait for a group in front of us almost the whole back 9, however when we got to the 18th hole, Ben came up and told us we were playing slow. He went on a total power trip and said he can kick us off the course when we responded that there was a group in front of us. Btw, they had just finished the 18th hole when we were hitting our second shot. He also told us to chill. He followed us on every shot and was talking shit if someone hit a bad shot, but quiet if it was a good one. What a horrible experience. That's no way for an employee to act. Played this course a few weeks ago, sorry for the delay on the review! The course layout is amazing, the mountain views, water hazards and wildlife on the course is beautiful! Now the course itself is a bit rough, to say the least. Lot's of super dry spots and the temporary holes on the back 9 are not up to par. Also, along the some of the greens are lifted grass patches which can deter a shot real quick. The people working the course were very nice and helpful, I will play again, but will wait till the winter with hopes all the issues are addressed. Good price point too!! read more

Fairways were nice, but that was about it. Took 35 minutes to score a hot dog and a Buffalo chicken wrap. We missed our tee time. A gentleman inside the pro shop was kind enough to bring it out to us on hole number 4. The aTm machine was down inside the pro shop so I couldn't tip him for his generosity. This course is in very bad shape. I played this course a year ago with the hopes that conditions would have improved. They haven't! There are 5 holes with temporary greens that are unputtable. Wow!!! After recently moving to the PHX area I realized one thing, golf is EXPENSIVE in AZ in the spring, esp in Scottsdale where I live. Well for $26 I can say I just enjoyed one of the best golf rounds of my life. The staff is incredibly friendly and helped us with ice, waters, and food before hitting the course. The prices are extremely reasonable for the above as well. Karen, the cart girl is an absolute sweetheart and made sure to find us before leaving for the afternoon. The ranger was an incredibly cool guy who made sure we were enjoying ourselves and that the pace of play was to our liking. Some of these reviews crack me up, expecting to play Augusta National for the price is not a good expectation to have, but with the right mindset you will truly have the experience of a lifetime. Worst golf experience in AZ. No one managing this place. We teed off at 10:15 and patiently played the front in 3 hours. We lost our patience on #11 and decided to drive around the groups on 12 and 13. They were playing a 7some and a 6some. No ranger or anyone managing play. Condition of course was mediocre. We called it quits after 5 hours. I told the bag boys of our problems and they said talks to the pro shop. I called and talked to Angel. After registering my complaint with Angel he told me 'they are doing a good job managing the course.' He accepted no responsibility for our experience. So they think they are doing good and there is no reason to get better. I understand perfectly why our day was so very bad. The couple we played with had been here before and never seen a ranger. Good luck if you wind up at this place. We will never give them another chance to ruin a good day. read more

This club did not make you feel safe in terms of COVID whatsoever. There were 3 staff members in total wearing masks- one around his chin. The men who came to greet us and grab clubs- and different men who tried to clean afterwards had no masks. There were 4 people setting up for a wedding outside with no masks at all- standing right next to each other. The cart girl who we had to purchase Drinks from had no mask. The carts were not cleaned (found pieces of trash.) The course still had bottled grass seed in the cart and rakes in the sand traps. We haven't seen that on any courses in town since March! I can't believe how poorly management is enforcing county and city law. Pace of play was also poor. They were running over 30 minutes behind and didn't tell us before teeing off. We waited 10-15 minutes at most holes. They obviously need to better manage tee times. read more

Played here this week. Really sad how much the course has run down in the past 10-15 years. This used to be a nice course. Now it's very unkept. It's obviously a cash cow for the owners. The playing surfaces are just ok, with random areas of disrepair, irrigation covers laying around, litter all over the place. Dead branches, sticks, logs and dead bushes laying everywhere. The cart paths are a shambles. Just very disappointing to see the place fall into such a mess. read more

I've played the Ahwatukee Foothills a number of times, and recently played with out-of-town visitors on a golf vacation. They were oohing and ahhing about the many mountain views. Definitely a course to add to your list Even though most of the course runs between housing developments, it was designed for the most part to give plenty of space, so you don't feel like your constantly in somebody's backyard. Desert golf on the edges, but fairly wide green fairways to work with. I've played Foothills a couple of times. Not bad at all for the price. The Foothills has some decent scenery, and it's been in decent shape both times I played. The layout is nice, with water coming into play on three or four holes. For the price, it's much better than comparable courses in the East Valley. You can usually get a spring twilight round or a summer round for a very reasonable rate (~$30?). The practice facilities aren't the greatest. The layout is kind of confusing. The course isn't particularly difficult, although I want to murder the 17th green. Those bunkers are going to get it next time. read more
