The Farm At South Mountain - Beautiful

Very pretty, working location that normally closes for the intense Arizona summers. You can walk…read morethe property and see what they have growing, and say hello to the chickens/ducks and sometimes turkeys in their coops. This is also a reservable venue for weddings! The food here is pretty pricey, but delicious. It's a great time when the weather is nice to sit outdoors and enjoy a good meal. The eggs are fresh and most of the produce is too. Would recommend!

2/28/26: it was disappointing eating lunch at The Farm. Years ago we had eaten at Quiessence and…read morehad a lovely time. Wanting to try another of their restaurants before the ungodly heat arrived, we decided to stop in for lunch. Parking: can be a bit nerve wracking, especially parking in the dirt lots east of the place. You have to walk across 32nd St & if you know Phoenix drivers, this can be dangerous. There is a pedestrian light now, though, so that helps -- but oddly enough, there's no "walk" signage. It's merely a blinking yellow light for north- sound-bound traffic so you have to pray to the universe drivers are paying attention & actually stop for you. Ordering: a bit odd. The main door we went in was more the middle door that didn't really take you to the beginning. There's a drink station then the food station. We skedaddled to the right of the main doors for the drink order, only to discover there's another door that people walk through to place orders. So we joggled w/ another customer trying to figure out who was there first. It honestly felt like a school cafeteria, a bit chaotic, as well as cramped. The patio was pretty large & well shaded, but it was also full -- and this particular day also the ONLY SHADE. We were left to sit at one of their many tables on the grounds with no shade. Food: not worth the $77 we paid. I get it's a working farm, & though we try to support local as much as possible, the food we ordered was not good enough that we will stop by again. The strawberry fields salad was a typical salad, no wow factor there. The Italian sammy was dry. There was a minuscule amount of some kind of dressing on it, but def not enough. Dessert: red velvet whoopie pie was so overpriced it's not funny. If it tasted great, I wouldn't complain...it did not taste great. The pecan pie was abysmal; not enough filling and very bland. Two "specialty" drinks, a salad, a sandwich, & two small desserts, for $77? No, sorry, not again.

Visited old town Scottsdale for an afternoon recently. It's a weird place, where whatever dusty…read more"history" Scottsdale once possessed has been replaced by a thousand gleaming jewelry shops that all sell the exact same torquoise baubles. The question I asked a dozen times under my breath was "how in the hell do they stay in business?" ... Aside from the oddity of catching a glimpse of a grown man wearing a huge red diaper standing at a bar. Enter House Rules. We drove to Scottsdale specifically to go curling. Being a Minnesotan, I'd never had the chance to curl growing up in the state most closely associated with one of the world's oldest team sports. My only, and I mean, only, bummer is that House Rules rules don't allow you to step on the ice. You slide the 42lb stone from a standing position on an astro turf launch area ... Which makes it more like shuffleboard than curling. Still, curling is fun. Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but really want to do it the way it's meant to be played next time. We also threw axes and rolled a game of duckpin bowling (which is a blast). Knocked back a couple beers on my way to TOTAL domination. This is a really fun place to reduce stress after a busy work week.

We had a team building event here and it was a lot of fun! Our team played the ice curling which…read morewas fun. The room is a little chilly so I would recommend bringing a sweater or jacket. There are waiters to take drink and food orders while you play which is nice. The food isn't anything too special just bar food, nothing too fancy. They also have duckpin bowling, which was lots of fun. My first time playing and it's more fun the regular bowling.

Throughout that time, communication was outstanding with every e-mail and question promptly addressed. The Grove staff walked us through every step, met every request and every spoken and unspoken need. (For example, light refreshments were provided for the wedding party prior to the ceremony. When they noticed that the guys retrieved the girls' leftovers, they prepared and sent over a huge platter of homemade chicken fingers and fries. This went above and beyond any expectations, but they didn't want the guys hungry.) Guests marveled over the beauty of the entire venue, especially with the glorious sunset and twinkling lights in the trees. The food was absolutely delicious, not your standard event food, and I heard several people remark they had never had a wedding meal this good. Our photographer told us that every meal there was excellent, but our guests especially raved over the almond-crusted chicken tenders, an add-on dish, and the horseradish mashed potatoes. The flow of events from ceremony to cocktail hour to dinner to cake to dancing to send off was flawless; our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The yard games were thoroughly enjoyed; no one was ever 'bored' waiting for the next event. The decorations and display tables exceeded the bride's vision and everything was carefully packed away at the end of the night for us; Venue at the Grove is truly a full-service wedding facility. They connected us with the best photographer (Tony George), bakery (Sugarlips...people who don't like cake loved it), DJ, bartenders, and Photo Booth people. I could rave endlessly about how pleased we were with everything. However, the biggest difference with this venue is that everyone who worked there truly conveyed that they CARED about ensuring the day was magical for the couple and their guests. It's obvious that Venue at the Grove is a business that operates out of passion for creating happy beginnings. We cannot thank them enough for their role in this special day.
