One of the springs for my garage door opener had split. I called a few places to get an estimate for cost and service time. All of them were basically comparable on price, although Foothills was slightly higher and did not include tax in their estimate. Two of the businesses offered to come out the same day (I called about noon). One of those was Foothills. They came highly recommended from various Facebook sites. So, even though they were a little higher we decided to go with them. The estimated time for service was between 1:30 and 2:30. That worked out perfectly because I had an event later in the evening. By 3:30, however, I still did not have anybody there and I had not received a phone call. I called them back to check on the service. The man who answered the phone (Steve?) was the same one who took my call earlier to set up the appointment. He put me on hold for a moment and then told me he would send someone out right away. I never received any more explanation than that. The repairman (Pete) arrived very quickly, by 4pm. He said that Steve had never told him abiut the appointment, even though the original call was only 3 hours earlier. I never received any further explanation. He said the repair would take about 30 minutes. He was very good and quick, and even discovered that we had a cable that was badly frayed and needed to be replaced. The final cost was pretty close to the original quote with the exception of an additional $20 or so for the cable. Like I said, that was still a little higher than other companies. The warranty is supposedly 5 years, although he said the springs should last 8-10. However, the warranty will only cover the part that breaks. Since I have 2 springs, and they replace both when one is broken, I would still have to pay for the other spring and the labor. Each spring costs $45. So, the warranty only covers that cost. I would still be on the hook for more than $100 under their warranty. Overall, I was impressed with the relatively fast response time and the repair. Hopefully, I won't need to use the warranty. I was not impressed with the lack of communication regarding my original appointment. I should have been called if there was a delay. And I should have received an apology and an explanation. That poor communication gives the impression that they may not value the customer's time. read more

Foothills Garage Door installed a torsion spring on my garage door in 2012 when my home was under a different owner. Five short years later it broke in half and they did not honor the part. Every other warranty on my home has transferred. Do not recommend. read more

YOU CAN TRUST STEVE!! My neighbor gave me the recommendation for Foothills Garage Door, and I'm *so* glad I called. He gave a quote over the phone, which not all shops will do. His low-key and low-pressure demeanor was comforting, and he is trustworthy. When he arrived my system needed a cheaper part than he had quoted and he actually adjusted the price and didn't stick to his original quote (I wouldn't have known the difference). When there was extra work needed he showed me the problem (and it was only a $4 part). When it comes to having work done (car, home, etc) the trust factor is more important than price to me. Unlike the big name places in the Valley, Foothills is locally owned and operated, and the prices are comparable to the "coupon" prices at the Valpak places - except no coupon was needed, and no upsells are offered like the other guys. Even when I queried about a new, quieter garage door opener (for a future day) he told me to wait until September when LiftMaster "always runs their sale". How's that for customer service, actually passing a sale along instead of pocketing the extra!! He even lubed up my existing opener in the mean time. I was in desperate need of a new torsion spring. Like everyone else my car was stuck and I needed to get to work. After reading the reviews on yelp. I called I got a direct quote over the phone (great price) Steve informed me he would send Pete who came to my house an hour and thirty mins earlier then expected (even better) Pete was nice and made sure that I saw that the garage was working properly. Love Steve! A few years ago these guys rescued me when the spring broke in our old garage. I mentioned that I still hadn't figured out how to reprogram the keyless entry or my car button and he offered to help me with both. Their number's been in my cell phone ever since. Just finished moving and again I was getting frustrated in the heat trying to figure out to reprogram everything. He estimated the job at 125 to $150. I went inside for a while and when he came to the front door, I expected an updated quote. He said he was done and the charge would be 125. WOW...I was in the middle of posting a very positive review (and I'm not known for that ). As I started to write it; Pete called me to give me the owners cell # to give to my neighbor. To preface my neighbor recommend this company then became sceptical due to no return call. I decided to give them a call none the less. Steve answered my call at 7:30am. He dispatched Pete to my house at 2pm...he was slightly tardy and I'm ok with that. Some jobs take longer and Phoenix traffic doesn't help...Yes, I know I'm getting wordy; this company is worth it. When I spoke with Steve I made it readily known that I was resolved to get a new garage door opener. He was very cordial and stated that he would give me some options based on our conversation. Turns out I did not need a replacement just a simple part replacement . Pete who was my tech was absolutely awesome. I was totally ready to be snowed but received the opposite. I can't say enough good things about this group...Oh, here's the kicker...the reason Steve didn't call back is because he almost died in a horrible crash on I-10; I'd call that a hall pass. Almost all of their reviews were 5 Star so I called Steve and we set an appointment for him to come out the next morning at 8am. He came on time and gave me a very fair price (significantly below the company we had used for years) and said he could more than likely do the install the next day! Much to my surprise, Steve called me a few hours later saying that a commercial job had been pushed back and he could "install your door today". WOW, FANTASTIC!!!
