There don't seem to be a lot of breakfast options in Sonora, but this little cafe off the beaten path turned out to be perfect. It gives off an unassuming vibe, but turned out to be just the place for a hardened bay area resident, like myself to unwind and enjoy the countryside culture that I had long forgotten still existed. The food is very good. I especially encourage you to try the Mexican breakfast burritos. You also can't go wrong with typical fare like the french toast and eggs. But even better was the friendly service. Our waitress, Morgan, was always patient, pleasant and helpful. It was so refreshing to be around down to earth people. This review is just for the totally awesome breakfast that I had the other day. I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito and it was nothing short of perfection. It was ginormous and I ate every last bit of it. I can also say that I have had my first breakfast burrito that had cactus as an ingredient, yay me! My coworkers also enjoyed their breakfasts as well (chicken friend steak and avocado omelet), so it was mission accomplished for finding the best breakfast in Sonora. Went back, decided to have the grilled cheese - I was expecting it to be like The Rock's grilled cheese - which is divine...this had no flavor at all and was swimming in grease. This place knows what they are doing! This is family run and operated, which lends to the welcoming atmosphere. The food is awesome and they serve generous portions. They have the widest variety of hot sauce I have ever seen. They are infamous for their breakfast burritos, and don't balk at substitutions or customization. I would give them 3 or 4 stars But the owner has a negative attitude which she freely expresses to the customers, complaining about the cook, her family and business. Went to Sonora with Family and friends. Went to the Foothill cafe for breakfast to start off our day. Didn't catch the woman's name that served us, but hands down the worst service I've ever had. When asking for 5 coffees she brought a thermos to the table (24% filled with coffee) with empty coffee mugs, suggesting we serve ourselves. Everyone one of us felt like the biggest inconvenience to this restaurant. We were automatically charged a 20 dollar gratuity at the end of the meal, which in my opinion was very steep for the below average service. The complimentary water served tasted like she fetched our glasses from a creek behind the restaurant which just so happens to be littered with deer dung. Do not go here if you have a family of 5+. It's obviously to much too handle for this place. read more

Thick, old fashioned coffee cups. We had the cali burger and the patty melt, and have to be back for the portobello burger and the I Love Pesto sandwich. Im so so sorry! We went there before and it was very ok. But now something happened and it's not good anymore. We both got very sick from our breakfasts, so much oil and grease everywhere. The cook kept yelling complaints against customers loudly, in Spanish (maybe he thought all white people cant understand) but still not professional. The manager ?? was cleaning the floor and hot sauce bottles while we were eating!!! All the while complaining why the cook got the order wrong, and she had to get products from modesto... I saw other reviews, yes we really felt like we were troubling them and not welcomed at all. We were just a big bother really. So many little things not right, and a big thing: the food! My family and I were in town for the weekend from the Bay Area. I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. It's definitely got a local diner feel and the waitress was friendly and attentive. I ordered a veggie omelet with no onions and no cheese....no toast or biscuit either. I did, however, ask if they had any fresh salsa to go with my omelet and the waitress asked if I wanted pico de gallo. Sure! She brought me out some in a little plastic container with a lid. It was good and went well with my omelet. The reason I knocked off a star, is because I didn't find out until I got the bill that she was going to charge me for the little bit of salsa. It was only $1.50..or was it $1.99...but still...it would've been nice if she had let me know that when I made the request. Plus, the fact that I got no onions, no cheese, and no toast/biscuit....I think that's probably worth the amount of money she charged for the salsa. Why not be cool about it and just call it an even trade? My husband got sourdough toast with his meal and it ended up being one slice of bread cut in half. They did have some good looking items on the menu though, including crunchy French toast and a churro waffle. read more

Stopped in for breakfast--hubs had the special, chili omelet, filled with their nicely spiced meat and bean chili, shredded cheese and red onion on top with a side of hash browns that were well done as ordered. (Almost) too much to finish! I had 'two for two' with 2 scrambled eggs, 2 bacon and 2 French toast. Perfectly Delicious! Nice light and flavorful, cinnamon french toast, fluffy eggs and the bacon was tasty, not too salty like most places. Best breakfast I've had in a while. The restaurant is on the small side and nothing too fancy, but it was doing a brisk business, including several take-out orders while we were there. We had excellent, efficient, friendly service. Good eats! Went to this place reluctantly as our first choice was closed on that particular day. Was not disappointed! This is an old school type cafe. Nothing fancy just good food. Portions were big so you don't feel terrible paying $11 for a breakfast plate. Family owned and run, you could tell. Our waitress was almost familiar....... My daughters loved it also......so you know that means we're coming back! I asked for my eggs over-medium with no runny whites........they came as requested (most places give you over-easy when requesting over-medium). Wifey got the breakfast sandwich and daughters got french toast and pancakes. Everything was Delish!! So went in with my wife for lunch and ordered a burger for me and a chef salad for my wife. Wife requested no onions and salad comes out with onions, no biggie right just fix it well this is where things got bad. Even though we watched the waitress write no onions on the tag, the cook started yelling at the waitress and became very much so verbally abusive to her. Our waitress was a older lady, very sweet nice lady. The cook a younger hispanic man started yelling in both english and spanish calling her stupid, dumb old grandma and other choice words in spanish. Worst of it all is the owner was there and instead of getting rid of the cook sent our waitress home. She then tried to justify his actions to us by saying on the tag it was unclear whitch meal had no onions, well they both came out with a pile of them so if the cook was unclear maybe he should have asked not blown his top. Everyone in the place could hear and see what was going on. Sad because been here before and food was pretty good but never again! The owner made excuses for him and allows this in her restaurant then count me out. For a really good breakfast/lunch with great service just go down the road to Jamestown!
