If you're passing through Auburn, Ikeda's Bakery is an absolute must-stop. Whether you're looking…read morefor lunch, dinner, a sweet treat, or even groceries, this place has it all. It was so good that we came back twice in one day! The cafe portion is small and casual but plenty of seating inside and outside. Loved the little marketplace next to the restaurant. For lunch, we ordered the mushroom burger, which was incredibly delicious, and finished it off with a slice of their marionberry cobbler pie. That pie was honestly one of the best I've ever had. The filling wasn't overly sweet--it had the perfect balance of tartness and sweetness--and the crust was wonderfully flaky, buttery, and tender. We loved it so much that we returned for dinner and picked up a chicken pot pie along with a slice of their peach pie. The chicken pot pie was warm, comforting, and packed with flavor. The peach pie was another standout, with juicy peaches that had the perfect sweetness and texture in every bite. One of our favorite parts was browsing the market, where they offer free samples of all kinds of sauces, seasonings, jams, and granolas. It was so much fun exploring everything they had, and we ended up leaving with more than we planned! Ikeda's is truly a hidden gem and such a wonderful find. I can absolutely see why they recently won Best Pie of the Year--it's well deserved! Congratulations to the team! We'll definitely be making another stop the next time we're passing through the area.

They had lots of produce and preserved veggies in jars! They also had a sample area where you could try various apples, pickled veggies, fudge and apple cider! We decided to have sweets before lunch and ordered their strawberry ice cream sandwich and strawberry pie! The strawberry ice cream and donut combo was delicious!! We would order it again in a heartbeat! The strawberry pie tasted like it was just strawberry jam as the filling and we didn't really like it much. Their burgers were so delicious and the sauce they offered were so good!! They had a chipotle and BBQ sauce that was so good that we regretted not asking if they sold it there to bring home with us! Can't wait to be back in the fall for more!!

First time visiting here was for the Watermelon days event. Indeed felt like a scam. I was…read moredisappointed that they barely had any watermelons for sale, and I was told they were imported for Mexico since it's not in season in California. The selection for watermelon flavored things were small too. I only ordered the watermelon ice cream, which tasted good. It was an artificial creamy watermelon flavor. The lady who took my order wasn't very nice though.. It was nice getting to try the free samples of apples, and other things. The watermelon sample wasn't sweet at all, so I ended up not buying a watermelon from here. There were a few vendors that had some cool things but I didn't end up buying anything. Totally not worth driving an hour for this event. Maybe I would come check out these fruit themed events if I lived closer. I ended up buying a watermelon at Costco instead..

It's really no wonder Ikeda's was voted the #1 pie shop in America. My Tripleberry Pie was so good,…read moreI didn't get a chance to take a photo of it. Oh, well. I guess I'll just have to go back... The Davis location is much smaller with less inventory (and less busy) than the Auburn location. Be sure to stop by for the fresh fruits, too!

So I recently had to meet my sister in Davis to pick up some BBQ she made me and her meeting spot…read morehappened to be at Ikedas in Davis parking lot.Well since I had never been to the Davis location,I decided to walk on in and see if it was pretty similar to the Auburn location which I'd been to many times. Parking here is a breeze as they have their own open lot with plenty of spaces. Walking in,it's tough not to just be instantly mesmerized by the pure beauty of the local fresh fruit available. Beautiful peaches, nectarines, cherries and berries-it all look so gorgeous. Inside was a little cramped and I went before they were named the #1 pie shop in America,I'd imagine those tight quarters are having a time handling the crowds it's getting now. My top 3 things I love about Ikedas are as follows. 1.I've always loved the availability of their yummy tamales and really tasty chicken pot pies. Both are generally available fresh or frozen if you want to enjoy these goodies at home. 2.I've always loved the massive availability of hot sauces and snacks that both locations of Ikedas have always had on hand.I always made it a point when I was coming down the hill to stop at Ikedas in Auburn for a tasty tamale-now that I realize the Davis location is so much closer,I can see being able to enjoy those tamales and pot pies so much more often. 3.Pies-enjoying a pie from Ikedas always felt like something that locals knew and they shared with us out-of-towners whenever we happened to visit one of their 2 locations. With the recent award they received naming them best pie shop in America,I imagine those days are over and the secret is out.Now everyone will know what we knew way back when and hopefully this doesn't change them,I hope they can keep the high level of quality with what I'm sure will be a huge leap in demand-I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they can. A bonus thing I love about Ikedas is their fruit freezes-they are so good,my niece hipped me to these and man are they worth the price of admission alone-they are so yummy-do yourself a favor and make sure to try one of these on your next trip to Ikedas. In closing, I'm so happy that Ikedas is finally getting the flowers they deserve with their recent award and I am proud to say I voted for them myself. If you haven't had the pleasure of visiting one of their two locations,do yourself a favor and get out there and grab some yummy fruit and a piece of pie-it's a good day spent for sure.
