I had an inital consultation exam at this clinic and was told cataract surgery would go forward. After 7 weeks, no information was relayed to me about insurance authorization or a scheduled surgery date. They do have a message system in place but repeated calls were never returned. Dr. very rushed. Did not spend time to explain my high eye pressure. Front office is terrible about returning calls if you leave a voicemail. They rarely answer if you call during business hours. When I was in the waiting room a very elderly couple physically had to come in to make an appointment. I overheard them say they had left 3 voicemails and no one called them back. The Dr. prescribed an eye drop that my pharmacy could not get (there was a known industry shortage). The pharmacy left a message so he could prescribe a substitute, he did not call them back. Pharmacy called him again, he did not call back. Pharmacy called him a 3rd time, he did not call them back. I would not trust my health to this office. I switched to another ophthalmologist and will NEVER going back. read more

Came here for my 7 year olds eye exam. He was very nervous the Dr that saw him was funny and told him jokes to calm him down. The exam was very thorough and I feel very confident in his prescription and am happy they sent me here. What a fucken joke!! Had a appointment in June 2023 and was waiting for them to contact me about my referral which they never did. I had to come back September 2023 ( waited 4 months) to see what happened. So I had to drive back there for them just to tell me that the doctor I seen in June no longer worked there. My mother had cataract surgery and ran out of eye drops post surgery. I called several times, left messages, and walked into the office to request a refill and all my efforts were not met. I finally received a call from Dr Kislinger who apologized, but referred me to Dr Shelton since he is not my mother's doctor he did not feel comfortable assisting me with a refill. My mother was not able to complete her medication due to their negligence. I am now sitting in the waiting room for a follow up and it is clear from the number of patients they are over booking the appointments. I am waiting to speak to the office manager and plan to contact the insurance company who has contracted with this provider. The patients deserve better than this! read more

Same as other reviews mentioned... Long wait and poor organization. They cancel and re-schedule appointments (after months of waiting) perhaps its how they handle "new patients".. they'll make you wait over 6 months instead of informing you that new patients are not accepted (beyond their capacity). DON'T GO HERE! RUN! mother had surgery on 8/9 (left eye cataract removal) after that, no one reached out to us for plan of care on her second surgery (right eye cataract removal) after 4 days of me calling on different numbers, and talkng to about 10 people, I was able to get ahold of the care coordinator and was told the next available surgery date is Sept. 26, thats about 7 weeks from the first surgery, i believe its unethical to fix 1 eye and wait 6 weeks for the other when the Dr. himself told us the gap is anything between 2-4 weeks. I feel bad for older patients who have no one that could follow up in their behalf, they would probably be ignored and neglected. read more

This place is a nightmare! first of all they don't answer the phone and to make appointments I repeatedly had to drive to their office. In July I had cataract surgery and in my follow up the next day, the surgeon informed me he was leaving Foothill Eye Institute. During the following month I was to take three different eyedrops and after almost three weeks I ran out of one type of drops. So I called the pharmacy for a refill, and was informed none was authorized. So I repeatedly called Foothill for a refill no one would answer the phone I went in person with written instructions and still no refill. I filed a grievance with my insurance company. I never did get the refill and my healing process is compromised. Upon my appointment in 10 days I plan to let the substitute physician know I am considering taking legal action for the stress this place has caused me. read more

Phone not receiving calls..then leave a message that is never returned.. 8 mos in and have to start over. Had to file complaints to ins company but they cannot get thru or get get message returned either. Don't waste your time! Within the last 6months to a year this place has gone down the toilet. Been coming here for years all the sudden they have an appointment service the people are horrible, rude and never call back. Took 3 phone calls and hounding people to get and emergency appt for my rare eye condition. The office doesn't answer the phone at all ever anymore so the only person you can get thru to is the incompetent appoint service. Then I see a dr and tell him about these issues his response to me about this is ...."just drive down here then and make an appt" really! How about dealing with the staff! Then I'm sent an rx I call the next day and it can't be filled because the dr clicked the wrong button for something, they had tried 2x to reach the office left messages and no return calls! So now I'm stuck calling the appointment service again Because no one was answering, they say they will send an urgent message ... of course no response. The next day I call the pharmacy again still haven't heard anything back from the dr office. So now I decided to call there Pasadena office some one answered the phone I explain the situation and she has to message the office in Glendora for someone to fix my RX! Within the last year, this Eye Care center has gone from good to extremely bad. I have been going to Dr. Kislinger himself from 30 years ago. Dr. Kislinger has since probably retired. The doctors that treated me after him were ranged from very good to ok. My latest experience was from the beginning of the year (2023) when my eyesight got blurry. Visited Dr. Sugiyama at this office. This doctor is an optometrist NOT AN OPTHALMOLOGIST. He kept on suggesting that I should get an eye exam, which I already had done. Even the technician at his office said that I do have cataracts. The last time I visited Dr Sugiyama was in September 23 when he suggested that I make another appt to come back to him. Instead I changed from United Healthcare/Optum to Kaiser Permananente in September 23. Saw the OPTHALMOLOGIST at Kaiser Ontario, who operated on my cataracts and today December 19. 2023, after the second operation, I can see better than ever before. The reason I am writing this is because, there is something rotten in Denmark! Why is an optometrist treating a possible cataract patient? Why does he not even mention cataracts to me? Are they trying to avoid recommending United Healthcare/Optum patients for cataract surgery because of high costs? Is Dr Sugiyama incompetent because he is an optometrist, not an opthalomologist! I just cannot understand! I am only happy that I discovered Kaiser, to experience how well and organized they are. I must mention that Kaiser's Opthalmologist Department in Ontario, Ca. headed by Dr. Silva (who did the surgeries) has been more than excellent! I should have gone to Kaiser sooner! This is a stellar review of Dr Hailey Ho, but before I get to her I need to thank everyone in both the Pasadena & Glendora offices. From the first phone call to make an appt a few months ago to walking out of my post op appointment today I have never been treated with more respect, kindness and understanding. No matter how small the questions were or how many they were always there smiling and kind even over the phone. Now to Dr Ho...She just did my second cataract surgery in a month yesterday. It was mite involved than normal as I opted to have multi focal lens inserted which not only got rid of the cataracts, but astigmatisms and the only glasses I now own are a nice pair of ray ban sunglasses. I have never been treated by a doctor as kind as Dr Ho. She's extremely professional and yet takes the time to get to know you as a person. She makes you feel cared for and you trust her immediately. She sure knows her way around an eye and obviously loves what she does for a living. I can't thank her enough!! read more

Great place! This is a hidden gem in Glendora on the other side of the hospital. Amazing staff and doctors! My husband was seen within 10 minutes after checking in. He has had a series of eye infections and got medications for his condition. The doctor was very knowledgeable and explained everything very through in his exam. read more

GREAT experience. My sister usually takes my 84 year old mom to these appointments, but today it fell to me, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Understanding that 'because of Covid' (the catch phrase of 2020), many 'normal' things are different, it was very good all around, from the lovely greeting from Erica when we arrived, to the exceptional bedside manner of Aly, the Office Manager and Ophthalmologist Tech. He was great with her, and very patient (and it doesn't hurt that his eyes are beautiful!). When we finally saw Dr. Takeda, he answered any and all questions that I posed. Offices are a bit dated, but that is not on them, IMO. Highly recommend. read more

Ok,,,,,Houston, we have a problem! I used to see Dr Takeda at this office, but he has since retired. I made the poor decision to make an appointment for both my mother and I the other day for Oct 10th. The week after I made the appointment, I get a message from someone who I could barely understand. Something about a mistake..I called the office and the same person attempted to tell me that the new Doctor won't be able to see us until December. First, get someone who can clearly speak English because it was bad. Second, If this is how this business is run, you won't last long if it continues like this. I had a very good experience with the Foothill Eye Medical Group on Grand Ave, Glendora. First, Dr. Richard Forgey was kind enough to show where to go. Then, Dr. Sugiyama gave me eye tests with confidence and communicated to me how to keep my vision and my eye healthy. And, Lilly, the Medical Assistant, treated me, an elderly, with respect and dignity. I will surely recommend them to my friends and relatives. read more

This place is a joke. Find another medical group. They never answer the phones. It's almost impossible to schedule an appointment. They always say they're having phone issues, Then when you finally get an appointment they call the day before and say, "they need to reschedule your appointment" this has happened to me 3 times now. The docs and techs are not considerate of your time. They think you have nothing else going on and that you don't arrange things around these appointments. Which are made a month in advance btw. 3 time is ridiculous to do this to the same patient. It's not about things come up this is a pattern with this group. As soon as I receive my diagnosis I'm moving on to a different medical group. Be ready for terrible service and care if you come here. read more

Very pleased with the results. Glendora and Pasadena office staff are very efficient, caring and friendly. Jose in the Pasadena office was very patient in helping me with my contact lenses. He faxed information to another State for me and returned my calls promptly informing me that everything went through successfully. my son had an appt with Dr. George Takeda suite 323 and it went well. The staff was very friendly and the doc was nice and very efficient. They took awhile because they had to dilet my sons eyes, waiting was a bit long but that is what was needed. I think this place is good. Dec rating 2012. My son has a followup with the doc and they have changed the staff and clearly dont know what they are doing. They asked questions over again , how old is your son and without even looking in his eyes they determined that he will benefit from glasses. I brought my mom in to see Dr. Takeda a couple of weeks ago for the annual checkup. The staff was amazing, her work up was done by a tech name Gary, who was so funny and gentle with my mom (she gets nervous around doctors). Also, Dr. Takeda himself was very thorough in his exam and addressed all questions my mother had. He even made sure my moms other health issue questions were answered as well. The same day I brought my mother to Foothill Eye I also brought my father to see Dr. Savetsky for a corneal issue that he had. His work up was done by a tech name Stephanie, who was very gentle and patient with my dad. Also, Dr. Savetsky himself was very thorough in his exam and addressed all questions my father had. Overall I had a great experience at Foothill Eye and am returning with both my parents for a follow-up. read more

This place is great!! I love Dr. Takeda, he is sooo much better than my other eye doctor. His staff is great too. I tried for MONTHS to get my records from California Eye Specialists. I highly recommend Dr. Botkin at Foothill Eye. He is thorough, smart and has a great sense of humor which really helped in this scary situation.
