The Staff was amazing they were very kind and helpful. The Doctor on the other hand left me with more questions than answers. I feel like she was just rushing to get me out of there and i still don't know what is wrong with my eye. I feel dumb like she didn't believe me about my eye despite pictures i have showed her. Dr. Lapsi and her staff are very knowledgeable and have a great bedside manner even though I sat in a chair. Maybe I should have said they have a great chairside manner. Either way, they are reassuring and informative. I still have two visits before any diagnosis but I'm very comfortable with them and the office. In fact, the office looked so new and clean I asked if this was a new building. It wasn't, so another thumbs up for their cleanliness. My optometrist panicked and justifying so due to a very high pressure she found. She said I should see an Ophthalmologist immediately. Dr. Lapsi's equipment is much more accurate so my pressure rating was 5 points lower than when checked by the Optometrist. My brother, a retired optometrist, agreed with the Dr that the equipment used is more accurate. I highly recommend this place. read more

I will give you my honest assessment of my experience at this particular eyecare center! Ive been in need of an Opthalmologist for a while as, I have had eye issues for a bit. I found this place through a friend who recommended it to me and the doctor to see. Dr Shelli Bagai Lapsi MD. I saw her yesterday and she was really nice and caring. I was pretty nervous about what was about to happend and the care that was gonna take place. From the outside the building doesn't look like much however, the inside is pretty cool and modern. Very clean and professional. I like that in the waiting room they have complementary coffee, tea, and water bottles in a small glass refrigerator. The employees were very nice to me but then again I'm cute so, I don't blame the ladies! Everything went pretty quickly from the paper work, check it, dilation of my eyes, to the consultation of the doctor. Everything went well. And Dr Lapsi was a total professional and explained my issues with care and concern. Which put me at ease. So, I have to come back several times! I'm glad it's here because, this is a first class professional eyecare center an I highly recommend it! read more

Today we had an appointment with my orderly mother with Doctor shelly who has been suffering from headaches and need very desperately to be seen by Doctor Shelly. Dealing with California traffic we couldn't make our scheduled appointment. I called and pleaded if they can still see my mother, but the doctor did not think of the patient but thought only of her self. Doctor refused to see my ill mother. She pushed it off to an other day. We are looking for a doctor who is for the patient. I hope this doctor realize its about the patients. Good luck to you. read more

Dr. Shelly bagai Lapsi was rude to my mom who is 70 years old. Dr. Lapsi insisted that my mom continue to use eye drops that my mom told her she did not use because of a reaction she was having. The doctor ignored her and told her that they were going to send her the eye drops. Again my mom told her that she did not use them. The doctor pressed my mom to use them. My mom agreed in order to continue with her eye exam that never happened because the equipment was broken. My mom had originally made the appointment to renew her prescription. Without doing the full eye exam the doctor told my mom her vision had not changed. My mom's vision has changed in last year and needs new glasses. Then the doctor insisted that my mom's insurance had changed, however they did not tell my mom until after she tried to do the eye exam. After noticing that the equipment wasn't working the doctor told my mom she had to pay out of pocket. My mom said that she didn't have the money. The doctor then responded with "I don't have minutes to give". Again my mom is 70. It feels like this ophthamologist doesn't really care about her patients or doesn't have the patience to deal with older people. I'm happy to say my mom will never return to this office. Edward ten B. , My wife and I went there for her upcoming cataract replacement surgery, and me for my dry eye + chalazion issue. Dr. Lapsi is very professional and kind hearted with excellent bedside manners. Some reviewere stated she was short with them (perhaps disgruntled patients? ) but I don't find that way at all. She just gets to the point quickly and I admire that ! Our diagnosis/treatment was in depth. Dr. and staff (especially Emily) are very helpful and don't rush. The El monte office is also new, very nice, and looks like it has state of the art equipment as does the West Covina office . I highly recommend Dr. Laspi who goes to both locations and trust her completely with my eyeballs. read more

If you are looking for a kind, caring, and talented opthalmologist, then I highly recommend Dr. Shelly Bagai Lapsi, MD. My grandfather, Albert, considers her the angel who saved his vision. We were blessed to find her. My grandfather had really bad cataracts in both eyes and was facing the possible loss of his entire vision. He had originally had corrective surgery on one of this eyes at the Veterans Hospital in Long Beach, CA. Although the job they did was satisfactory (though nothing to rave about), they refused to operate on the other (worse) eye. They said there was nothing they could do. Enter Dr. Lapsi who did what others said they would not and could not do. She delicately removed the stubborn cataracts from my grandfather's eye and within a few weeks he was praising god for being able to actually see things he hadn't been able to see for years. It was so amazing to see his expressions of amazement as he began to look at the world anew. Myself and my mother have been to the office with my grandfather for his appointments. We've never waited too long when going to an appointment. And, really, a little wait time is worth it for such a great doctor. The nurses are always polite and nice. There are refreshments such as bottled water, Keurig coffees, and juice in the lobby. The office is neat, clean, and welcoming. And, Dr. Lapsi is just amazing as a doctor and a person. She really empathizes with her patients and their families and does her best to explain everything in a friendly way. She even gave us free sample drops! Three days ago I came down with pain and sensation of sand in my left eye. I couldn't stop tearing. I was seen by Kaiser Urgent care doctor and told everything looked fine, went home with antibiotic eye drop. In 8 hrs. I woke up in terrible eye pain and blurred vision, constant tearing, I rushed to hospital. I was seen again by Kaiser ER doctor, this time with corneal abrasion. Went home with another antibiotic ointment. Through the day my pain became more and more debilitating. I had experience eye injury in the past and didn't want to risk losing my eye sight. As a registered nurse, I felt those 3 minute diagnosis by urgent care and ER just didn't cut it, a second opinion will be necessary. I yelped and found Omni eye care, called and was seen immediately by Dr. So. She was caring and very patient with my questions. Most importantly she diagnosed me correctly and began my treatment right away. She kindly provided samples of the medication for temporary use because they are prohibitively expensive. The first consultation was not cheap but for my eye sight and my sanity, it's well worth it. The HMO is a bad system. Too many requirements for referral. In my case, I simply couldn't wait to be seen by my primary and then refer to ophthalmology. It helps to be young to endure mistakes and delay in proper treatment. For elderly and special diseases, either you'll shell out cold hard cash to see a good private provider or take the misery while risking the complication waiting on HMO doctors. In less than 12 hrs. My pain is 100% gone, stopped tearing and redness improving. Still working on blur vision. So thankful to have good provider like Dr. So. This is definitely a good clinic for keep. read more

My stepmother who is cognitively challenged secondary to a stroke and lives in a nursing facility had an appointment here. I arrived to be able to hear what was said. I was not allowed in due to Covid. I am fully vaccinated; I wasted an hour and a half coming here. In the early days of the pandemic this response was acceptable, but not anymore... So says the science. I would worry that if they don't follow the science here do they follow it when it concerns the eyes? read more

I had an appointment at 1 p.m. and was not seen until almost 1:50 p.m. I was taken back to a room, and the assistant, Marie, was somewhat rude and wanted to take my eye pressure. I told her I wanted the doctor to do it at which time she became somewhat upset, and told me and my wife, that I would have to wait in the waiting room, until the doctor was ready to see me. I found this action to be highly unusual. 10 minutes later she called me back in and put me in another room. 5 minutes later Dr. Baghi came in and seemed to have a standoffish attitude with me. I complained to the Dr. about Marie's actions but the Dr. could care less. Dr. Baghi had a wad of toilet paper in her hand and kept sniffling up mucus. Which made me feel VERY uncomfortable because I did not want to catch a cold. If feel that Marie bad-mouthed me to the Dr. and that's why Dr. Baghi had a bad attitude towards me. I did see an appointment schedule on her computer, which showed that patients were schedule 5 to 10 minutes apart. I now understand why I had to wait almost an hour to see her. In my opinion, this Dr. Baghi is more interested in making money than in her patients. I was so disgusted by her demeanor and by the way she was sucking up mucus through her nostrils, that as I got up to leave, I told her she should not be seeing patients when she has a cold. People there are so many good opthomalogist in the area that you don't need to wait an hour to see a doctor. This kind of practice is very disrespectful to the patients. If you have an appointment at a certain time, that's the time you should be seen, not an hour later. read more

Horrible experience for my mother. Doctor refused to write a prescription for eyeglasses. I begged her that all my mother wants is to see a little with glasses... She DOES NOT want cataract surgery and because she has cataracts, this doctor refused to do so. They only want to do surgery which is against my mother's wishes. I felt like, I got ripped off by this office!!!!! I've waited for almost 2 months for my appointment and took off from work.... when I got there I've waited and call my name and gave me a orange light test that lasted only for five minutes.... and that's it!!!!! I didn't even see the doctor!!!!! I'd paid 35 dollars co-payment just to take that very brief eye test... and scheduled me for another month of waiting to see the doctor, maybe????? I had to get cataract surgery in a rush because of insurance reasons. Although it was during the holidays when its almost impossible to get any kind of surgery in a hurry, Dr. Lapsi did all the required test and preparations and approved me for surgery in a timely manner. I was able to get everything done in a very short period of time including getting my insurance's approval for the surgery. Dr. Lapsi did a wonderful job. I went from being virtually blind in one eye to seeing 20/20. The staff greets you by name and always calls to confirm your appointment. Very professional establishment. Highly recommend it. I am so grateful for the help I received from Dr. Shelly Bagai Lapsi, MD. I was having trouble seeing, especially at night. Turns out I had cataracts in both eyes. There were several problems in removing them, but Dr. Lapsi took on every challenge effectively and professionally. I needed 2 outpatient cataract surgeries and 2 laser treatments. The doctor is very well practised at both. Her staff is very friendly and efficient, and it all went smoothly. Dr. Lapsi is wonderful at explaining everything clearly. She is also compassionate and knowledgeable. It is also very good news that she accepts MediCal coverage. Now I can see better than I ever hoped to again.
