We have been here a few times now and each time the massage therapists do a great job, though it could be a hit or miss depending on who you get. The therapists tend to have pretty heavy hands though and are thorough, even though at times it can be a lot of inconsistent pressure. The inside of the massage rooms are really nice -- tall ceilings and you get your own private room unless you are doing a foot massage, which in that case you are in a room with about 8-10 other potential foot massages. However, I have heard other clients through the walls being really loud and rude, laughing or not paying the therapists any tips (and the therapists asking for more tips). So this place is not free of noise and in fact can be pretty loud and uncontrolled. I think the downsides about this place is that they charge $1 for every $5 you tip (if you tip on the card). I think that's an outrageous amount. They also charge $2 if you are paying by credit card. The front desk people can also be kind of rude, especially in how I've seen a male front desk person interact with other customers or even just people inquiring about services. The foot part was not too good either, he kept massaging the same spot the whole time and it didn't even feel good. Then upon leaving it stated MINIMUM TIP $10. I'm sorry but if the service is not good, you do not deserve $10. Tips are given based on how good the service is. My husband and I go here often. It's convenient and the price is usual. We are satisfied with their services. When you want something in particular, ask them to see if they can do it. "Foot Spa" is kind of deceiving.... they don't just massage your feet.. it's head to toe!! $20 for an hour too! I think it may be called foot spa because you're on a reclining chair the whole time rather than massage beds. But it's still awesome! Location: It is located in an old building upstairs. It may be hard to find but it's that gray building on the corner of Estudillo and Bancroft. Atmosphere: It's really small, maybe about 6-7 reclining chairs, so it's best if you call to make an appointment. They're all placed side by side, so it's not like you get your own room/area. But it's still very quiet, they play relaxing music and videos on the TV screens mounted on the wall. The Massage itself: Start you off with putting your feet in hot water. While it's in there, the masseuse starts massaging your face! Ohh that felt so good. It was one of my favorite parts of the massage, rubbing through my forehead, cheeks, chin, and pressing pressure points on the temples. Then she moves on to the head, hair, neck, shoulders, upper back. Then your arms, hands, fingers. After all of that, she finally removes your feet out of the water and massages that. Tells you to turn around and does dry kneading with your clothes still on. Advice: bring cash for tip (they say $5 minimum). Wear shorts or loose pants because they do not provide any. The guy behind the counter is plain out rude, but I can deal with it. There is a secret doorway to a massage parlor. At this point, you might think it's a happy ending service, but here's the clue. If the massage rooms have walls that don't go all the way up to the ceiling, it's a legitimate massage business. The point is that you can hear people in the next room, and happy ending massage needs good sound proofing. My wife and I were here for a couple's massage, and our opinions align. The massage itself was okay... They don't know how to find areas where you have tension. Most of these places just have a routine they go through and off you go. First, the therapist put my legs in a bucket with warm water and put me a blanket, then massaged my face and head - it was good. and arm, feet, leg...then I was told "Face down", he started my back massage--it was little bit painful. Actually, foot massage was great and could be the best I had ever had. Foot-Spa is still new, but looked like pretty popular and while I was getting massage, there were other customers and some people who just show up had to come back b/c they were fully booked. so I recommend to make an appointment. By the way, they will ask you for regular price unless you tell them you are there for happy hour price even though you mention it when you make an appointment. It's dark, the masseurs and masseuses speak loudly enough to be disruptive, and when they're in the washroom, the running water is loud and un-relaxing. I'm not sure if this is an indication of his mastery...but he was impressively good! I didn't have to ask him to go harder or softer. He just knew what type of pressure was necessary for the appropriate muscle. He was very proper with moving the towels and clothes around to get to the skin. He didn't breathe over me, so that I could smell his breath. He was very quiet about moving the equipment and chairs around, so I hardly noticed his presence. I just closed my eyes, ignored my surroundings, and relaxed. Before I knew it, my hour was up, and I was thoroughly pleased with the massage. I even tipped him so me more, after the massage! Keep in mind that they asked for payment before the massage. It was odd' because other massage places have never done that to me. They put your feet in a bucket of water when you first get there, I'm only a size ten but my feet didn't fit very well in the bucket, which made it a little uncomfortable. Also they require to you leave a $5 tip, which is reasonable but I really don't like being told what I have to leave as far as gratuity. This place was AMAZING!! I used to go to the location on Bancroft Ave and never had any complaints, but that one is no longer there. Today, my cousin and I went in for their "foot spa" (which is actually a full body 1 HOUR massage) and this new place is everything! From the outside, it doesn't look like much, but the remodeled interior is very ZEN, clean, and modern. It felt like we were in a totally different place. We had David and Tony, who were both amazing! You can tell they're very experienced and educated in their craft. We both raved to each other for an hour after we left about how they hit all the right spots and were so great at what they do. The massage is only $25, not including tip, which should at least be $10, but $35 total for an excellent 1 hour body massage is not bad at all. I snapped a photo of one of the private rooms, but unfortunately I didn't get one of the 4 bed sanctuary we were in. Lol... it was so good! You will probably do best to make an appointment - I call ahead and usually they fit me in within a half hour to an hour. This is a clothes on full body massage. You are not in a private room. It will be an hour long. The cost is $25 with tip. The masseuses cannot communicate very well in English, but will do their best to focus on whatever area you want. I called last night to make an appointment today (Labor Day) and luckily they were available. I opted for the $50 massage which was 45 min oil hot stone massage and 45 min foot massage. Julia was my masseuse and she was very strong. I really like deep and strong massages so I raved about her for a long time after getting home.
