I visited Hand and Stone Massage about a week ago; my therapist was Lucy…read more I suffer from chronic muscle spasms throughout my body - especially in my calf muscles - and, was in desperate need of a deep tissue hot stone massage to relieve pain, increase circulation, and reduce the potential for the spasms there. On my intake form, I requested firm pressure and opted for the $10 aromatherapy add-on. At the outset of my session, I began to explain to Lucy my needs, but she quickly interrupted and began telling me of her problems with muscle spasms. I know she was simply trying to empathize with me, but it was a little too much... She went as far as to recommend that I take quinine. And, maybe that is a possible solution but I don't think a massage therapist should offer such advice (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinine). Anyway, I digress. Lucy was friendly enough, but she totally missed the mark for my massage needs. I wanted and needed deep, firm pressure applied with the hot stones (and, I know this is possible, because when I get a pedicure, the attendant does exactly that when she massages my calf muscles using hot stones). What I received was medium to light pressure with the stones and medium to firm pressure with Lucy's fingers and, Lucy basically telling me that I should have ordered a regular deep tissue massage without the stones, because she could not apply deep pressure with the stones. I was most frustrated at that and even more when Lucy said the massage was done and I had received no aromatherapy. Other than that, I prefer to lay quietly and relax while the massage therapist works. I personally do not like to converse or listen to anything other than soothing music. I seem to recall the music that was playing was a radio station or regular music and not soothing sounds or the like. I could not have been happier to leave. On leaving, I was almost charged for the aromatherapy but thankfully the hostess recognized the error. I was, however, overcharged because I ordered "hot stone" and not the special "some kind of something special" salted stones. I was charged for the latter. I was certainly not happy about that, but again, I was ready to go. I am still searching for someone... ANYONE, who can provide a firm pressure, deep tissue, hot stone massage on my calf muscles and other major muscle groups. Understanding that everyone is different and everyone can have a bad day, I won't totally write off Hand and Stone Massage, but I would need to be incentivized for sure! Live well. Be well. Cheers!

Kira did a great whole body massage with focus on these areas in particular. The back walking and massage were moderate to deep per my request and were fantastic. I also requested stretching and the stretching was both pretty intense and very therapeutic--I felt great afterwards. I have had numerous Thai massages at several different places and they all blow Swedish massage and places like Massage Envy out of the water. This was probably the most stretching I've ever had and Kira really worked hard on the areas I requested. Both she and the receptionist were very nice, they requested pertinent medical history before the massage, the facility was very clean and the environment was relaxing. The only negative is that there is a 3% fee for using a credit card but that's pretty minor. I could tell Kira is experienced because she was very confident and efficient and frequently asked how I was doing with the pressure and stretching. Highly recommend Lux Tha Spa, I know I'll be back!

Opted for the hour and was taken to the room at the rear right and asked to undress. covered the whole time, except when stretching my legs. I've had Thai massages in LA, near Thai Town so knew what to expect. The Thai lady (don't recall name), was very professional and focused on the issues that I asked. This is a fairly new business (previous Thai Massage at same location, but different owner). I recommend if you are looking to get some of the kinks worked out by professional MT in a relaxing environment. I admit I was a little sore the next day from being stretched, but that didn't last long. I will definitely return.

It was by far the BEST massage of my life and I've had at least 100 in the last 20 years. Turns out to my shock and awe I was lucky enough to have gotten a massage by the owner!! She is so nice and so professional. I am truly impressed with the entire staff. This is the first time in a long time that I didn't feel like I was being rushed, I wasn't given a sales pitch to buy additional products and I felt completely comfortable. The ambiance is relaxing, clean and welcoming. They offer so many services and I will definitely be back.

When I was younger, my jobs were extremely stressful and physical, causing plenty of injuries. I had major spine surgery last year. Since then, I've done six months of physical therapy without much improvement. A few weeks ago, I gave up on the PT when my wife referred me to Kathye Hopwood. She is very impressive! I need deep-tissue work. Kathye is not a big person, but have no fear, if you need deep tissue work, she will give you exactly that! I know Kathye does many other types of massage, but I haven't tried them. If I wanted to, I know where I'd go first! ;-) Her studio is perfect. She has decorated it beautifully with things that obviously mean something to her. It's quiet and she makes sure that you're comfortable before she starts. Today was my third or fourth visit and she even remembered that I needed extra blankets for cold, (and painfully crampy), feet! Yes, it's a small thing, but isn't that the point?? As I said above, I've had a LOT of massage! The first time I went to Kathye, I told her that it had been the absolute best massage I had ever experienced. Today?? DITTO!! callled 2 days in advance and made appt for two people for Saturday morning 10am. arrived for…read moreappointment and only one employee at the business. took a bit for her to set up the room. she took us both back and then left for us to change. she took about 15 min to come back and started on one of us saying the other employee would arrive in a few minute. few minutes later someone comes in wanting services as well she stopped and set up services for the walk in then came back to restart on the one person and soon another employee arrives and begins working on the walk in not me. 30 more min goes by and my partner is almost done and it's 45 min before an employee arrives to work with me. he was rough, and rushing the service as now my partner was done. my 1 hour head spa is now a 30 min rush job. no lotion or oil was used for the arm and hands massage and it was super fast may as well not bothers. a quick pounding on the thighs and he was done. he rinsed my hair started with cold water then warm. then 1/2 blow dried my hair in a hurry. my partner and I were both really disappointed. definitely do not recommend. whatever they put in our hair left it frizzy and dry.
