They are rad gloves but I played with them while the zipper wasn't velcro locked closed and I broke one of what I learned is called a coil. OK- Jim's my brother so this isn't an objective review. That said, I think you'll find this is the best shoe repair place period. His customer area is a bit dingy, and he can be somewhat cranky, but the work he turns out is always second to none. He's obsessed with quality and it shows in all their work. Jim knows feet inside as well as outside, so if you have foot problems, tell him & he'll whip out his actual skeleton foot from behind the counter and he'll help you understand what's happening & how to address the problem. Calf stretches, and these arch support inserts will eliminate heel pain related to plantar faciitas. My experience here was quick and efficient...dropped off a sandal for repair last Thursday and picked it up on Monday. It was ready Friday but I couldn't get back there after 5 (when repairs are ready). Jim fixed my silly little sandal that I'm not ready to part with; drop off and pick up were a cinch. My husband has also come here for some insoles for his running shoes in the past and been happy with the help and product he left with. Not good. Had my hiking boots stitched and re-glued. Paid $40 to have it done. Went for a 3 hour hike and the soles completely unglued. Brought them back for a refund and the owner gave me a really hard time. Wouldn't give me the full refund. He took a pair of boots that my daughter had been gifted that were way too big for her and attached inserts and what not so she could wear them right then and continue to wear them when her feet finally grew into the boots. I have been coming here for a couple of years. I waited for 25 minutes without any acknowledgement. If you call, you'll get help right away. Jim will stop everything to talk to you in great detail while customers waiting for 25 minutes will get no help and no acknowledgement. This happened twice while I was there. I drove from Santee to Encinitas to get a pair of insole. A waste of an hour of my time. I work 12 hours a day so I hardly ever have time to drive up there. I asked if I could make an appointment since I felt dizzy and needed to eat. Someone else made an evaluation appt and got his full attention. No response to the appointment question and no apology and no concern that I didn't feel well (had low blood sugar) he said we're open 9 to 5 pm. As he said "You're Next" he took another call. This is not good customer service. If he trained his shoe repair guy to help with insoles, orthotics, etc. it would really help. If you want to get replacement insoles that he sells, look at amazon.com or pedagusa.com or footwear stores. I will not be back. I have had him go on and on about random, strange topics to me or with others while customers were waiting (not professional). read more
