We used this caterer for a brunch and my guests were pleased with the baked oatmeal and berries, and 2 choices from the Skinny menu: 6 layer dip and chips and the hot bean dip with chips. Even once you set your eyes on it, you might take note but keep moving as you read "Catering." DO NOT BE FOOLED. This is the best place to get grub on the long island. The chef-owner is an ex-Four Seasons Executive Chef, and her ability to crank out more food that seems possible to fit in this small shack is shocking, in the best way. Her food is so thoughtful; it's not just salad, it's mixed greens with dried fruit, candied nuts dusted with sesame seeds, dotted with goat cheese and packed with a champagne vinaigrette. It's not just a brownie, it's seven layers of sheer dessert indulgence slathered with a ganache coating. Chef's creativity is endless, which means I can't give a reliable list of menu items - they change almost daily. And every offering has at least three variations, like the cole slaw that may be either traditional, Santa Fe, or made low-cal with no mayo. Or the tuna steak that could be breaded and fried or seared with Cajun seasoning, both cooked and ready to be reheated at home. There's also about a dozen pizzas, flatbreads, sandwiches, wraps, and other side dishes, perfect to accompany shore dinners or to be eaten alone. My family are a bunch of jersey shore whores. Not literally. Okay, maybe I should clarify. Jersey Shore FOOD whores. This place was literally calling my name. Food in the name? How much better can it get? I've eaten here twice. It's a small little hut kind of place, but everything is homemade. It's a catering place primarily, but they still have a ton to offer the general public. Homemade pizza, foccacia, bread, salads, desserts, soups, paninis, cheeses, tapenades, etc. I had the chicken lettuce tacos and a grilled chicken salad this most recent time. My boyfriend had the turkey hummus hoagie which was PACKED with veggies and the bread was made with pumpkin seeds. (Another love of mine.) It's expensive, but worth it. Fresh and filling! read more

Peggy is AMAZING! She organized a PERFECT wedding for me on 9/20/2014. Her food is incredibly delicious and she's a real delight to work with. Everything was impeccable. It was way beyond my expectations. I had numerous people come up to me throughout the day and tell me that it was by far the best wedding they'd been to! Her staff is wonderful too on the day! I have given this shop a few chances, including purchases in the Surf City store, and other than an occasional fresh loaf of ciabatta bread I have never been dazzled. This week I purchased a birthday cake for my three-year-old grandaughter, expecting something special given the price of the tiny cake. All of the children were gathered round as we sang happy birthday. As I served each of them a piece of cake my daughter-in-law noticed a blue layer on the bottom and asked what it was. I honestly thought it had to be fruit so I took a bite. Luckily I was the one to taste the moldy layer before any of the children had any. My husband returned the cake and the owner nonchalantly told her helper to give him a refund - no apology, no embarrassment. I can see why she had to close one store. The other is not far behind I'm sure. There are plenty of places to get delicious food on the north end of LBI. Don't risk your money or your health on this one. read more

I used Foodies to cater my son and new daughter in laws rehearsal dinner. They were fabulous!! I spoke with Peggy on the phone a number of times to make arrangements for my party. She was friendly and knowledgeable and provided excellent service. The food was freshly made by the chef , Jen, who finished the prepping and cooking at the house we rented in Loveladies. She obviously loves what she's doing and served us up some really tasty hors doevres. I chose from their cocktail menu. So many choices.!! You choose 12 and they bring it!! Literally and figuratively!! Our server Lauren worked hard to make sure all our guests got a bellyful of yummy. They were both very friendly and hard working. Couldn't disagree more with other post. Place was small and overcrowded with food not stored properly. Food sitting in summer heat. Yuck! High prices, sub par food and attitude. Would definitely bypass for some of the other finer places on the island. read more

Saw the random purple building while the passing by and decided to stop in a few days later! The Brooklyn pizza was delicious! It had a great choice of baked goods, pizzas, etc. It was clean and the workers were so nice and helpful! I will definitely be returning! read more

Was going to local park concert and called to order fried chicken to pick up. Ordered a bucket of chicken for $12.95 which they said included 2 white meat breasts. I ordered two more breasts, and now the total was $23. When we opened the chicken, first of all it was not fresh-made..was heated up and probably frozen, but more importantly, there were 5 thighs and only 1 chicken breast. It was aggravating and very inconvenient. I suspect that the two young girls there didn't know the difference between the two cuts of meat. read more

Enjoyed delicious homemade pizzas (small with lots of interesting toppings), kale salad and brownies as takeout. They heated the pizzas for us and we ate on the table and chairs on their front porch. I knew Foodies was a great choice for catering but didn't realize they served takeout! read more

We are from Los Angeles but had a very large party for family members in Long Beach Island. We found Foodies on Yelp and liked the sample menus Peggy sent us but as we had never dealt with Foodies we had no way to know if the execution would be as good as the menus read. It was fantastic - they did amazing pass-arounds (crab cakes, lamb chops, tuna) and a great steak and lobster dinner with a beautiful and delicious cake. My guests were full of praise for the food. Peggy was a true pro - she organized a DJ, seating, the bar and staff and everything flowed like clockwork. It was a true pleasure and our risk paid off highly. She definitely exceeded expectations in food and the staff she had were very well trained and pleasant. I would not hesistate to use her again if I had to throw a party in the area. THis place has great gormet pizza already made for take out. But, don't try to order a sandwich. Yesterday we placed an order over the phone for 5 interesting gourmet sandwiches. Not one of them whas exactly what we ordered. Some were missing ingredietns. Some were on the wrong bread. Two nice young men behind the counter, but they don't appear to know what they are doing. I have never used Foodies for catering, but have stopped in twice for lunch. Each time my family and I were very disappointed, and threw out our food. This past time I bought a $9.00 veggie & goat cheese wrap. I opened it up to find chicken in it. I brought it back and they would not give me my money back. They said the huge chunks of chicken was goat cheese. I've never seen goat cheese like that before, and if there is goat cheese that resembles the consistency of chicken, then something is wrong with that cheese. EWW! This store is not only rude and unaccommodating to their customers, it's also really dirty. The pizzas are all sitting out with flies on them. My little daughter put her hand all over one of the pizzas yesterday and they just shrugged and said it was fine. EW!!!! She had been to the playground and her hands were most definitely not clean! And the sandwiches and salads are all always on sale because they have been sitting there for days. You can just tell there is NOTHING fresh about this food. It's like soggy leftovers. Gross!!
