The wait is horrible! When a manager is asked to help they do, but with a bad attitude.

Before I got in line , I ask and employee if I needed membership. She was very helpful in all that I asked. She didn't think I needed it. I got into line, got rang up and asked the cashier if I needed membership. She said yes. I'm holding up her line , trying to sign up. She asked me to move over there. Ok! The manager comes through a side of her checkstand. Pushes my cart out of the way. I have no clue why. I was thinking he was going to help me sign up. He says I'm trying to get by. Put your cart over there. I said you don't have to get rude about it. He's like I have to get over there. I finally talk the cashier, I just want to buy it as is. Okay go get back in line. What??? Forget it, I'll go to Walmart!!! The next customer let her ring me up. I have never been to Food 4 Less and I will never go back! If Ralph's owns Food 4 Less, Ralph's never treated me like that. I went into this store today and was shocked. A manager Dolores was talking rudely and unprofessionally to another worker. I went through her line and she was gossiping and talking trash about her other coworkers, UNPROFESSIONAL. It amazes me how these people can become managers. If there is someone above her they need to talk to her about the way she talks to employees! read more

Want a place with good deals. You come here. If you are looking for something particular (new products, something you don't normally see in most groceries) you won't find it here. I mentioned in one of my reviews that I don't care for Walmart. (I wrote that it is like a girlfriend you have broken up with but keep going back to because of her particular set of skills... not that I have ever done this by the way. Once I break up I am done... but it made a good analogy :) Because this Food 4 Less is in the same parking lot as the Wal-Mart, it was like a win win for me. It isn't the best looking place though. All of the shopping carts look dirty and run down. Good luck finding one that doesn't have that infamous clicking wheel. It makes you want to wash your hands multlple times when you leave. My youngest likes to ride in the cart and I am like don't touch anything!!! The store is just like any other pretty much. You walk in and go left where all the bulk items are stored. Then you are in the vegetables and fruits section. This leads to the meats, then dairy, and the you see the aisles. You don't have to go in this order once you get past the vegetables and fruit section, but it seems more efficient. You will know what I mean if you come here. A good example of nothing specialized. I saw a commercial for the new Lays potato chips. (Wanted to try the chicken and waffles one*) They were not here yet, and may not ever get sold here. That is the issue with a store like Food 4 Less, but other than that you are good. Side Note* I hope someone is breaking off Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles for this idea. I did look it up and saw that there are other places that sell Chicken and Waffles and I don't know if Roscoes is the first. Prices beat Albertson's and Stater Bro's without a doubt! This is where I go for anything I don't want in bulk from Sam's/Costco. Walmart groceries are a fair comparison, though, and I've found that prices are often just as good there. This Food 4 Less is laid out pretty well, and there's often a booth with samples. I get the Kroger Friday Freebie coupons from the Food 4 Less website/app, but I can only find those products here about 1 out of 4 times. They either need to make sure they stock those items, or the app should say that it's only available at Ralphs and not Food 4 Less, for example. read more

They always have the items I need and then some! The prices here are much cheaper than Stater Bros. which is obviously a plus. Their lines aren't usually too long and the cashiers are always friendly! Tonight, however, it seemed to be a bit more crowded and understaffed. Nonetheless, Veronica rang me out and despite that she had a long line with no fault of her own, she still remained calm, collected, and friendly. Great experience! read more

I really want to give a really big compliment to Co-Manager Jennifer of Food4Less in Redlands. On Feb. 4, she went out of her way to try and find out whether they will again be stocking an item they used to stock but recently stopped stocking. (Carbmaster nonfat milk, unflavored). She even called another store to see if they had it, and to get the UPC code so she could check the records for her own store. Apparently, they will be stocking it again, but it is in some kind of repackaging process from the producer, so she doesn't know when. But she invited me to keep calling her back directly, in order to find out, so I don't have to keep driving over there. This was after a MOST unpleasant experience trying to reach Kroger itself to find out this information. I spent over an hour on the phone with them, kept getting cut off, and finally resorted to "Chat," but that lady couldn't answer my simple question, either. So, my experience with Jennifer really helped me feel better about my fellow human beings (smile). Thanks, Jennifer! You're a really TERRIFIC manager!! read more

I am an older vet with bad knees and by the time I get to the check-out I look carefully for number 1 register and know that Delores will make sure my items are all in order. Last week she sent back a bag of lettuce for a new one and today changed out a bag of coffee that had opened and I really appreciate that level of customer care. Growing up in California, I've always heard and used Food4Less. However, while living in different states, I was forced to use their local chain-stores.. and the closest was Kroeger (Food4Less's head store) When I returned to California a few months ago, I was elated to be able to shop at a Food4Less again. At this point, my husband and I had discovered "couponing", and unlike other fellow couponers... my husband and I only purchase items we need at the amounts that are reasonable. I researched Food4Less' coupon policy and found that their rules were just slightly stricter than other stores we've shopped in, but it wasn't to the point where I couldn't still enjoy a good deal. A month after shopping here, we experienced a confrontation with the store manager. He refused to honor 2 coupons (out of 5 we had for Progresso soups) and stated that as the Manager, it was his right to decide if he wanted to honor them or not. My husband said: "Oh ok, we'll just pay for what we can purchase then" (while giving me coupons to put away)... but it appeared he didn't hear the part when my husband said that it was "ok".. the manager continued to tell us he would not honor them.. at this point, we were confused if he meant that he would not honor ANY of our coupons at all... I then said, "ok, we understand".. but it seemed to have fallen to deaf ears... so much so, that even the young cashier began to look nervous and I felt embarrassed because of customers standing in line behind us. We paid for our items purchased and left the other items on the conveyor belt. A week later we returned and we were informed by the cashier who was cashing us out, that Corporate decided to change the coupon policy recently and to be aware of said changes: 3 Free item coupons per day + taxes. She was kind enough to provide us a copy of the new policy before we left. As a couponer, saving money while purchasing much needed items is important, especially when we buy in bulk to donate to local charities (an activity we picked up while living in the South), now it just seemed like coupons are being pushed to the point of not being accepted anymore, and I am sure this is because of those extreme couponers who empty out shelves, taking away merchandise from other shoppers.. I know this can make anyone angry.. as it makes us angry. But to know that we have to pay taxes on free items now... well that is just disappointing. Nonetheless, we decided we will not be shopping here anymore. read more

My family and I visited this food 4 less recently and had a great experience with one of the employees. Londell in produce showed great customer service. He went out of his way to check if we were finding everything ok and was a big help in assisting us to the products we needed. It wasn't just that he asked but you could tell he was sincere and truly cared about serving his customers. I go to this food 4 less every now and then and this wowed me because the attitudes and service isn't always the best. Londell stands out as a great example of how employees should treat their customers. Give that man a raise! read more

Be careful when you buy from this store. Or you better not really shop there. They charge more at check out than what prices say within the store. The first time it happened with me, I thought that it could have been a mistake; but it turned out that they are intentional about ripping customers off almost always. The last time it happened to me was a couple of days ago and they charged me $1.99 per pound for the tomato and the white zucchini while the tomato was 89 cents and the zucchini was 99 cents. Went in today and purchased some boneless chicken leg meat and when I got home to prepare it for dinner it was so freaking sour. I was really suprised because the sell by date was still 4 days away. I called and they transferred me to the meat department manager and he was really apologetic letting me know that they have recently had this problem happen with this product and that it was something from the manufacturer and not meat that they packaged there themselves. So he said just to stop on by in the morning and he would gladly replace my purchase with anything I wanted. Didn't have to be chicken again. Although I wish I could have just got some fresh chicken I do appreciate the courtesy and willingness to replace my purchase. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! read more
