Not a lot of name brands on the shelves...as expected, except Goya products. But plenty of everything else. Many outdoor and clothing items. Children's clothes and toys. Dropped $77.00 on goods, including anchovies, coffee pods, apple sauce, bird seed, gardening gloves, mushrooms, honey, marzipan bar, bandaids, vinegar, huge water jugs, Old Bay seasoning, Tajik seasoning, citrus scented trash bags and a paper bag to carry the small stuff.

Like many, the "big savings, low frills" hype first drew me here. But, instead of replacing a…read moreconventional supermarket run, it just added another stop that never made us say "I'm glad we came here." Employees aren't unfriendly, just scarce, semi-avoidant and unhelpful. Today, an employee approached me with "Sir, we don't allow photo taking in our store." When I realized he was serious, I asked for an explanation and to see the corporate policy (he didn't answer); as a Yelper, I shared that photos brought authenticity, then asked if I would be kicked out if I continued. "I've been instructed to ask people not to take pictures." I'm sure there's a reason but I was annoyed! This is Lidl not a government building. Was someone in witness protection? The visit rolled downhill when I saw a sale flyer item I wanted (gingerbread village kit) but the 3 employees I approached couldn't tell me where it was. I found it myself at the very front of the store after I wasted 5-10 minutes of my life I won't get back. For us, future return visits don't look good. If you go, here's a detailed evolution... EARLY PROS? Big parking lot with wide spaces. Fresh bakery items with some uncommon varieties (cherry jelly filled donut) plus free samples. Customer operated digital scales/printers to price your own produce/bakery items. Weekly sales, app specials and perennial markdowns. New store so inside was pretty clean and bright. SO-SO's? Most products are unknown generic brands that you roll the dice on to later learn what to buy/not buy. BYOB: bring your own bags or PAY for theirs. The wannabe department store items in those rear center aisle bins made me chuckle; felt like a swap meet "get your frozen pizzas, pajamas, crepe makers, footballs, and screw drivers over here!" The appeal is gone. So are the samples and scales/printer terminals (ppl were cheating the system). Stock availability is hit and miss, especially with sale items, dairy and baked goods.

JEB Little Creek Commissary…read more Address: 1180 Amphibious Drive, Bldg 3445, Virginia Beach, VA 23459 Serving the Little Creek military community, this commissary is on base and widely appreciated by service members and families for the significant savings it delivers compared to civilian grocery stores. As part of the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA), it sells groceries and household essentials at cost plus a small surcharge, which often translates into hundreds or even thousands of dollars in annual savings for active duty families. You can use traditional paper coupons as well as online coupons and digital savings tools via the Commissary CLICK2GO platform, where eligible patrons clip offers and schedule pickup or shop in-store with additional savings deals. Most shoppers point out the huge variety of produce, meats, dairy, and packaged goods -- and many note that compared with civilian supermarkets, the prices and bulk offerings are especially helpful for larger families or those managing tight budgets. Inside, the experience feels like a well-stocked neighborhood grocery, with options like deli counters, fresh produce, and seasonal specials that reflect ongoing agency promotions (YES! Program savings, manager's specials, etc.). Being on base makes access convenient for Little Creek sailors, their spouses, retirees, and dependents -- with authorized military ID required to shop. Overall, I've had consistently great experiences, which is why I wanted to share both the positives and one area that could use some attention. The Fresh Market has one of the best meat counters around. Their filet mignon is my go-to purchase, and it's always been outstanding. Their produce is consistently fresh, and I also love their bakery. They regularly offer unique seasonal and specialty baked goods that are always worth trying. Today, I decided to order their fresh bruschetta because it's not something many stores carry. I was excited to try it, but unfortunately, when it arrived, it didn't look fresh at all. Even though the container is dated to expire tomorrow, it had a milky appearance that made it look unappetizing and, in my opinion, not safe to eat. I understand that products can occasionally slip through the cracks, but I think this is something that should have been noticed before it made it into a customer's order. Whether it's during stocking, by the department team, or at checkout, I hope more attention is given to products that no longer appear fresh, even if they're still within the sell-by date. Overall, this one experience won't keep me from shopping at The Fresh Market. I still highly recommend them for their excellent meat department, fresh produce, bakery, and the convenience of delivery. I just hope they take a closer look at product quality so future customers don't have the same experience. So the next morning I woke up with the intention of drinking my Bizzy Expresso Cold Brew Coffee only to find it expired a month ago which is very concerning and disappointing! It tells me that stores are not paying attention to their products!!

The Highlights: Florals: We stopped in a few days after Valentine's and scored some beautiful bouquets on sale. Quality: The produce is vibrant and the butcher counter/meats are top-tier. Easy Meals: My favorite part! We ordered a Margherita pizza and they made it fresh. They have a small dining area with a microwave, which is super convenient for a mid-day bite. The One Downside: This location doesn't have an in-store cafe. A fresh latte or a smoothie would have been the perfect with our pizza. Bottom Line: Great for high-quality essentials and easy meals. Everyone was so friendly and pleasant. A nice change of pace from the usual grocery run.

Outside, it doesn't seem like much. I figured it was just a local convenience store. Inside, it's actually a decent sized space. A separate space on the left with random arcade games and what looked like slot machines. The main store area were shelves of everyday items and snacks and there were a few fridges of canned and bottled drinks. They also had beer and bottles of wine available too. On the right side, they have a kitchen, where you can order chicken sandwiches and I saw a display of fried chicken. So I got 6 pieces to go and some cajun fries. Honestly, the fried chicken tasted decent. Very crispy, meat wasn't dry though they could've seasoned it better.
