This store is going downhill. Can't buy produce here (or the other FB on Gates) because they package fresh and rotten veggies together instead of letting you pick from loose. They don't even have a full complement of veggies in their produce section - for example, no bunched spinach today. Even with the expanded front of the store and added checkout lines, there is still almost always a 20 minute wait to get rung up because they never have enough registers open during peak hours. Also, i don't know why they moved the express lane to the far end of the store considering the old express registers near the entrance are literally never used anymore. Why have 20 registers if you never use more than 6 at a time? Still, it's better in most cases than the Gates Food Bazaar. read more

This place is wild and aptly named. They have so much ish. Lots of Asian stuff cause the owner is Asian and lots of Latin stuff cause.... yeah the clientele and area. The stuff is cheap. It ain't Manhattan prices. I dig that. The produce isn't the best, but they have everything you need. The seafood selection is oddly really good. And the butcher is really popular. They have a gigantic cold storage section. This is the go-to regular, family market. Go to Billy's if you tryna be fancy. This ain't the place to get like Walgreens stuff. You ain't gonna find contact solution and lotion for a good price. There's Duane Reade really close for that. Cheapest live lobsters I've ever seen. They don't taste the best I've ever had, but hell for $13 I'll take it. Cheapest bulk beer in the area as well. It's an overwhelming place to shop fyi. It feels like a zoo. I was recently scammed by one of the cashiers at this location. It's currently under investigation so I can't mention the cashiers name. I was in the line and the cashier was showing the customer before me how to get coupons through WhatsApp with their phone. She said once they signed up they'd get a $50 coupon. It seemed to be a quick enough process so when it was my turn I also handed her my phone which in hindsight I know was very stupid. She had my phone for all of 30 secs and although I never got any coupons while I was walking out of the store there was a billboard for the WhatsApp promo so I thought nothing of it. Later on in the evening I got a call from my home country's area code and the person had an accent from said country. They mentioned a legitimate WhatsApp group that Im a member of and said they're having a Zoom meeting and proceeded to send me a code to the link. Once I confirmed the code my WhatsApp was hacked. Just like that. The scammer reached out to several friends and family members in a short space of time pretending to be me and luckily only one of them sent money but it was a large amount. Through the scammers zelle email, I was able to find out where they were located and several of their aliases and other pertinent info and it turns out they're located right here in the US (I won't mention the state). I returned to the store to request camera footage and also to file a complaint with the manager. To my amazement when I explained what transpired she said it's standard practice for the cashiers to assist customers especially the elderly (which I am not btw) with navigating the app on their phone. I told her they should cease this practice since it opens the door for people to get scammed. This is the largest Food Bazaar location I have ever visited. There is plentiful of free parking in their lot and the departments are huge. The meat department is a walk in refrigerated area. The seafood area has a variety of fish and shrimp, although it was not well attended. I had to pick up and weigh the seafood myself. I needed the printed sticker for the seafood but there was no butcher around to do so. They had a variety of holiday items on sale and my favorite Anjou pears for 99c per pound which is a good deal. read more

Despite this being a very busy store, they have a really good selection of food items in every department. We often are able to get all of our groceries here. The selection of seafood, fresh meat, and Latin/Caribbean products is fantastic. Prices are much better than other store chains in Bed Stuy and Bushwick. Incredible variety in the international aisles. The stockers are always willing to help if you just ask. Busy at the times you'd expect, so I try to go right at opening for big grocery runs or within the closing hour if I just need a few quick items. I just bought groceries vía Instacart and I'm very upset at how they price gouge items. Food Bazaar supposedly sells through InstaCty at 'in store' prices but that is not the case. I see that the Bogopa brand toilet tissue (20 ct) is $9.99 in store however when you buy online it is at $16.99!! this is not "in store" pricing as advertised. I go here frequently but will not go as much going forward. Months ago I noticed I was significantly overcharged. Something was marked for sale but was charged wrong at checkout. I emailed the business in an attempt to get a refund and they eventually stopped responding. The same thing just happened again. I wanted to consult someone but the store is so busy that it's hard to do so. With that said it is still a good supermarket. Prices are good, fish market is hard to match and produce area has good quality produce. You just need to pay close attention at checkout and correct them as errors happen. ive been going to food this food bazaar for 23 years, and what I've noticed is now that this area is gentrified it has become increasingly harder to go there without being followed through aisles this past Sunday I went there to get some breakfast items when I noticed every aisle I went too there was a Hispanic man approximately 5' 6 170 lb black hair light blue shirt denim pants and vest looking down every aisle steering at me. when he noticed I was looking at him he would walk away. This is not my first encounter with this in this food bazaar I confronted an Asian man who appeared to be the manager about this once before , when an Africa security guard was following me through the store, when I pointed out I believed it was because I am black he stated he is black too. This is my go to supermarket, I'm here twice a week sometimes buying produce. The produce section is organized & has everything. I love that they also have a fish market inside so you can get fresh fish. The other aisles are also very organized & I can always find what I'm looking for. They also have good sales, if something happens to be 3 for $10, they let you get just 1 at the sale price. Other supermarkets don't let you do that. It is often packed and the lines are long but the cashier's move very quickly, it helps that they have the turntable thing for the bags. They also have an app which has coupons & you earn points when you show the cashier your account, you can get money off future purchases. read more

The first time i went to food bazaar i was like oh this is so cool, the aisles are all these different countries and this is so much different than I am used to on the upper east side of manhattan. Well, sometimes a gal is sick of branching out. I want things to be in places i would expect them to be. WHO PUTS BEER IN A DEAD MIDDLE AISLE? I am just a girl, trying to attend a barbeque, trying to bring some spiked seltzers. Oh wait, food bazaar does not carry those. The bodega on the corner does though--you are welcome. Thrice i have been. Twice the lines have been outrageous. Their pedialyte (very important for me) is twice the price of cvs and is hidden away near the exit. Other than pedialyte, the pricing is pretty good. Obviously much better than my 'hood of the UES, but that is to be expected of bushwick. However, they apparently are notorious for sale items not ringing up at their sale price. That happened today and i had to wait around for ten years to save my dollar. Which, by the way, I am pretty sure is still the wrong price. Anyway, I don't live here. I don't know the competition. But this place certainly doesn't make me want to move here. read more

I love Food Bazaar. I come here for their shrimps and soon some Lobsters. I love it here. My only annoying experience I had there was a guy who does the weighing and the packaging of the seafood. I'm used to the Spanish guy whose always there. He's very polite and helpful. There was an Asian guy today. I asked if the shrimp was one pound. He didn't even pay me any mind. He just printed out the label and parked the shrimp. I'm like wow okay. Then, I gave him my second bag of shrimp and asked is this one pound. He didn't even pay attention to me again. Let me just say I am not a very adventurous eater so I might be the wrong person to comprehensively review a super-market. That being said, I am a huge fan of Food Bazaar. I recently moved into a place on Putnam and having this monolith just two blocks down has been a life-saver. It has everything you need if you fall into the "poor-as-shit" tax-bracket. While bulk ramen costs about 2$ per 6 pack at most of the bodegas in my area you can find it 50% cheaper here. Their goya aisle is something to behold; a veritable Tag-Mahal of legume/bean phylum'd necessities. The fruit selection is also pretty great (ex. grapefruit in November...Pomegranates). The highlight is without a doubt the beer aisle. Conveniently located directly in front of the main door, this wondrous sliver of linoleum is host to the best super-market beer selection I've ever experienced. A few from the great Victory brewery, a wide selection of Munich Hefe-Weisen (Franziskaner, Edelweiss, ect...), Hoegaarden, and some high-volume ales from every corner of New England/Acela states. Def. check it out. I didn't rate it perfectly because it lacks a great "home entity" aisle. Shower curtain rods, water kettles, silverware are no where to be found. Edit: moved the 5 star because I figured out that the "home entities" were behind the registers. read more

We call it "Food Bizarre", a stressfully experience: 1. They change their products like twice a week so you can never find anything in the same place. It's like going for the first time every time, and I hate that. 2. The people there is always mad, screaming, beating their kids, kids crying. It's insane. When I wrote my review for Jack's 99 Cent Store (http://www.yelp.com/biz/jacks-99-cent-store-new-york-2) and stated that it had the cheapest groceries in the city and that I didn't know of anywhere that was cheaper, I obviously had not discovered Food Bazaar. Quite frankly, I've never seen anything like this place. An open fish section, a walk-in freezer (which can be pretty refreshing in hot weather), mountains of Goya bean cans and rice mixes--all for low prices and specials that can rival anything you'll find in Chinatown. And actual (not turkey) bacon! And a beer aisle! With Hitachino! You won't find that in a dollar store. Also, this is my go-to place for whenever I want to get a certain Hispanic food product (i.e, Quaker's FrescAvena) and get it much cheaper than at a bodega. As others stated, the quality of produce is questionable. Good luck finding a fresh onion/orange/ without mold - especially on workday nights! On top of that headache, they are missing basic ingredients (there is no canned green chilies, sweet potatoes nor fresh basil) entirely. Sometimes I stop in the city to buy items I DOUBT I'll find here. Kinda beats the purpose of proximity of this grocery store, right? Worst of all - their chicken is always spoiled! I've tried 3 different brands (thinking THAT was the issue at hand), but all have stunk. I wouldn't buy salmon here again either. I believe Food Bazaar lacks quality in handling procedures of their raw poultry/seafood. Food poisoning is no joking matter, but I guess the cheap prices makes it an affordable gamble. I was surprised not to find any Food Bazaar reviews on Yelp. These are my favorite grocery stores in NYC (mostly Brooklyn I guess). You know that scene in Punch-Drunk Love where Adam Sandler's character is in the supermarket passing aisles of perfectly stacked canned goods to dreamy Jon Brion music? That's Food Bazaar, except all the cans are Goya !! Anyways, I love buying produce here as it's always super fresh and really cheap. SO MUCH better than Whole Foods. I pay less than 1/4 the price at Food Bazaar. This Ridgewood/Brooklyn location was my first Food Bazaar experience. I prefer it to the location off Broadway, which is closer to my Williamsburg apartment. read more

Meh, is right. I would have probably given Food Bazaar (which I've dubbed WFB) 3 or 4 stars a year ago, but in my eyes, this place has steadily declined. Firstly, it's always really crowded in here. But the WFB crowd is not your average, it's a crowd of probably the most inconsiderate grocery shoppers you've ever experienced. People leave their carts and baskets with reckless abandon. Also, this store is lacking in variety for a store of it's size. There are probably 20 choices of spaghetti sauce, but no deli. On the plus side, it does have a fresh fish market which is nice. Holy refridgerated meat section bat man! Yes my good friends they have an entire meat area (aisles and aisles and aisles, oh my!) that is cold as balls, so bring a jacket or risk having your nips stand at attention. More generally speaking the places is pretty huge by BK standards and the prices are afforable. They also have a pretty large produce area, but navigating that poorly appointed section is a real bitch - because at times you literally need to bust a bitch to get your goddamn cilantro! In fact, the generally wierd organization is pretty much par for the course with thise market. However, as a market is a place you visit at least a few times per month that ceases to bother me each time I visit as I get better acquainted with where my dietary staples are located. They have vast quanities of Goya products and lots of Latin American products in general (no complaints here). Also, their beer section is pretty damn impressive. However, I am still debating whether to go with CTown or Food Bazaar as my market of choice. Why do all the hard choices have to fall on me? read more

This is my favorite supermarket. They have a wide variety of products so it's unlikely to not find what I'm looking for in some brand or another. The entire community comes here so the place is always full of people from different cultures and backgrounds which I really like. I like that everyone comes together and shops here. The specials are pretty good from time to time and the prices while not awesome, aren't as terrible as other local supermarkets. There is always parking in my experience and if anything the B26 pulls up every 20 or so minutes outside the supermarket. There isn't a huge organic, natural, whole foods section going on here, but there are options and products for someone who is looking for that. I like that they do have two or three isles dedicated to Caribbean and south American products. There is often a manager / upper staff member standing and monitoring at the front by where all the registers end. I like that if I should have a complaint or issue (which I haven't had yet) that I could have access to approach a manager. Also there are a ton of employees working the floors and stocking so if I have a question I usually have little trouble finding someone to help me. For a supermarket of it's size, this Food Bazaar location is maintained pretty clean, well staffed, well stocked, organized and supervised (from what I can tell). It's easy to access from a lot of neighborhoods because it's on the B26 line, and by the L and M train lines. I like shopping here and have even taken a cart from Park Slope to this Food Bazaar and returned in train with a full cart via the L and G. I'm not crazy and probably wouldn't do that again, however you get the point. It's not a bad place to do some grocery shopping. read more

Just shopped here for the first time. I'm in, man. And there are (illegal? unofficial?) "taxis"- basically dudes with huge vans who will load and unload your cart and take you where you need to go for a fairly reasonable price. Super convenient. I mean, at first blush the place looks like a shithole- the floors are dirty and it's enormous but CRAMPED. However, it's well lit, and the produce seems really fresh. There's a huge selection, they even had some of my favorite Whole Foods brands, and I was able to find everything I needed and then some. The staff was really nice, even if the clientele weren't always. Navigation is tough, I felt like I was in some sort of cramped shopping cart video game, but worth it for the super reasonable prices. Next time I'm going in with either a friend to navigate while I grab stuff, or just do my shopping in basket-friendly quantities. Either way, I'll be back. read more

this place is a mecca for finding almost anything you need for groceries. They have a refrigerated room for the produce section. and freezer room for the meat section. its totally a relief to go chill in there while your shopping in the summer. They also have the most decadent pastry cakes. The cakes are totally appropriate for when your going to an event and don't want to show up empty handed, and for 11.99 who can beat that price. the only downfall on my end is their array of international food. they are missing some countries. to my knowledge, Argentina is MIA... i really would invest in some alfajores (mini cakes) if i got the chance also, dont bother buying produce they r overpriced here. everything else is reasonably priced. the parking garage is huge read more

Good deals in the produce section. I got a jalapeno, head of garlic, box of organic spinach, and an organic green juice... all for just over $6. At some places, it's not uncommon to see green juice, alone, cost that much. Some of the produce looks like it's on its way out though... I'd suggest looking at fruits and vegetables closely before buying them here. Not a bad selection of mock-meats / vegan specialty stuff... They sell a big square of tempeh (10' x 11' x 1' -ish) for $7.99 . Unspeakable. Crowd was rough, predominantly shrieking bums (quote - 'I'll beat you like a snake, woman') and Bushwick street toughs. The food was poorly arranged and of low quality. Food was generally loaded with high fructose corn syrup with none of the healthier alternatives available. Ethnic produce a plenty - pig feet, jam jars of spiders, mystery meat etc. Worse yet, packaged food purchased had been opened! Two of five items (hot sauce and sunflower seeds) were affected. I am really losing patience with this place... It's so convenient and has a lot of stuff you'd only expect to find in a Whole Foods, but the lines, overcrowding and stress (bottlenecks in the aisles created by impressive towers of cans) are worse every time I come back. (And yes, the sale items not ringing up at the sale price is a common occurrence, and if I ask for a price check, it holds up everyone behind me and I feel terrible). Today, there were multiple cash register lines twisting and wrapping around each other, so I didn't even know where to stand. Then, after waiting 20 minutes for the people in front of me who had like 50 items, I was told that no credit cards could be used in the entire store because the system was down! There was some sort of enormous line in front of customer service for other cashless people like myself, but I was completely fed up and my frozen food was already starting to thaw. I just gave up and left. I really wish they would put some thought into improving the customer experience here, because I think the only place I've had a worse "customer experience" is with the MTA. read more

Ah, Food Bazaar. I live down the street so the majority of my groceries come from this insanely huge supermarket awkwardly less than 5 minutes walking distance from ANOTHER Bushwick Food Bazaar. Why are they so close together? We may never know. The produce here is not quite fresh but there's a good selection of groceries. Their avocados and bagged lettuce are fine but everything from here seems to expire a little bit faster than usual. Once they had a great sale on Chobani but it's because all the yogurt was a day or two from expiration. Bummer. It is pretty cheap though! Not quite Trader Joe's prices but cheaper than Food Emporium or Whole Foods (duh). Lots and lots of items to choose from, a pretty standard deli, and a nice selection of vegetarian foods. There is an insane beer aisle here with a really amazing selection. Lots of unusual and imported beers! My favorite part by far. Checking out is always an ordeal, especially if you're shopping on the weekend. It always takes me a while to convince myself I actually need to go to Food Bazaar. It's one of a few grocery stores I shop at in Bushwick but since it's the closest to my apartment I find myself here unfortunately often. read more
