I was profiled and accused or stealing. The embarrassment I felt when the manager chased me down the parking lot to demand I show him the contents of my bag to ensure I hadn't stolen anything. Before I report this store to the department of health, I figured that I would leave a review here for my fellow neighbors to read. This store sells meat with extremely inaccurate "sell by" dates. The first time people in my household have been sick from pork, another time we had to throw out our planned chicken dinner and third is the attached photo of sour, browning steak that still had two days to go on the label. Third times a Charm right! Well, in my case, the third time meant walking all the way back to the grocery store. Upon returning this rotten steak, I was met with a very arrogant, condescending store manager, who kept calling me sweetie and said "let me educate you" blah blah. Dude, I've worked in food service for almost 15 years. Whoever is labeling your meat does not give a f*** about your customer's health. Hopefully a quick visit from DOH will help this cocky "uneducated" store manager understand that what they are passing off as fine, is NOT okay. Do yourself a favor and head to the key foods on wyckoff instead. Your stomach will be glad that you did. read more

I like this location but i dont love it. I will start with the pros. Its has a nice sized parking lot with a UPS locker at the end and a little make shift seating area by the entrance. A pretty good sized section of produce. They have a good selection of meats. They have an amazing Cheese selection for those who are cheese connoisseurs. Their frozen food section is ok and they have alot of good ice cream choices. They have a good deli area, very very clean and a coffee area where you can pick your beans and grind em. They also have freshly made salads and sandwiches to take home. Pre cut deli meats and cheeses are available. They have a decent selection of snacks. A small section for household items. 1 of the registers allows for Lotto play. The staff are super nice and helpful. The cons. The produce doesn't always seem fresh. At times the produce looks like it's old, or left in the sun. Their store made Salsa and Guac tend to be expired and they still sell it. Ive encountered this more than 5 times in the past 2 years. But Ive only noticed it when I was looking to buy them. They have a odd isle set up at the end of the produce area. . They have a small section for olive oil, sunflower seed oil , mayo, Ketchup , mustard and coffee which is towards the meat section and can be easily missed. They sell produce that is pretty much done for in these sealed packs for 99 cents. Some of their bagged produce can be expired. Such as the bags of baby carrots, jars of peeled garlic and even cranberries. Ives experienced this a few times here and I made staff aware of it and they removed it immediately. Some of their meats have remained in the meat section after the sell by dates, usually I see this with the Italian sausages and breakfast sausages/links and once with their ground beef. One of the isles contains 1 small freezer that houses bubba burgers, pizza, beef patties and other things like that and these are over priced. The lines for customers are off, they make people wait on one line until a register calls you which isnt helpful because while some follow it, others dont. Also, during the initial portion of the pandemic when Lysol and other disinfectants were scarce, they price gouged and sold each can for close to 20 dollars. Wipes and other disinfectants were upped in price by 5 dollars or so. When entering, the first section has really loud music playing and at times can be deafening. Waters and other beverages are sold here and some produce is in this area which can be a bit difficult to get things because you are focused on entering the store. All things aside, I will still frequent this location. The cons mentioned above is found at every other supermarket for the most part. read more

This is a normal overpriced NY grocery store. But, it is close to my house. I have found that my local corner store, Steve M, has Scott toilet paper for much cheaper than here. Their fruit is decent, but their vegetables are mostly rotten, depending on what you want to get. I was looking for snow peas or asparagus, they had both and both were completely rotten, gray and brown. I wonder how the employees or managers can just let the stuff sit there looking that bad. The toiletries and paper goods are so expensive that I cannot even bring myself to look. The meats and the dairy items are actually a good deal. Which makes me wonder if they are going to be rotten too. I have not had a bad experience yet. They do carry Boar's Head products at the deli and have meat and cheese deals when buying the two together. read more

Updating my last review, +1 star. Long story short, I swiped my card, it was declined, I swiped my next one, it went through. I immediately checked my statements and I was charged the full amount on both cards. I wrote the review after speaking with someone who said there's no managers on weekends which blew my mind -- I worked grocery and couldn't imagine not being able to reach a superior for three days. I was pissed, to be frank. So I called my bank instead of waiting. In fairness, they reached out a couple times to go over what happened, but at this point I don't really care. My bank got me my money back, and I've completely moved myself over to the Key Foods for the random and frequent stuff or using FreshDirect for the heavy or repetitive, which is a killer service. Tried Amazon Fresh, but FD is where it's at. I'll probably run in if I need something like right now, since the parking is really good and it's a close walk. But I'm just not in love with the place. If you're budgeting and can't really afford to buy your groceries twice... pay cash. If you have a closer option, consider it. Selection is good, aisles are tight, meat is usually fine. It's a convenient spot, but I still have a bad taste from my experience. read more

Associated has fresh produce, fresh bread rolls, decent-looking seafood, and is usually uncrowded... at least in comparison to nearby C-Town. I always feel a bit overwhelmed in here because there is actually a bit of a selection: rice vinegar, artichokes, 4 types of black olives?!?! I've never seen such things neighboring supermarkets or bodegas. Negatives involve prices being slightly higher (maybe about 10 cents per item) and it does close early, around 8pm. Now if i could just motivate myself to walk the extra few blocks to shop here more often... read more

However, I am updating to 4 stars, because you really have to pay attention while being checked out that you are being charged the correct prices - especially if something is on a weekly special. Their prices are actually pretty decent for many general items -- comparable to Food Bazaar or just slightly higher, and I like that it's small and never crowded or loud. Obviously don't buy produce here as Fancy Fruit is just across Myrtle on Catalpa. But I'm dropping this to TWO STARS because TWICE I've seen the lady at the deli counter eating her lunch (finger food, in plain view), and then she proceeded to SLICE MEAT without washing her hands. I pointed it out and asked her to wash her hands first and said something like "I was only using this hand to eat," then waved her gloved slicing hand to signal that it was "clean." Then on another visit, I saw her do the same thing to another customer, but he didn't notice/care and so the employee didn't wash her hands. As far as grocery stores in New York City go, this is by far the best. I walked an extra 10 minutes on a whim to go here. I was not disappointed. The staff was incredibly friendly, space was nice, and it wasn't too crowded. Most importantly, everything was fresh. Okay so I went here the other day to find seafood because I promised fish or shrimp tacos to the boyfriend. It was my first time here. I've been going to the Key Foods on Wyckoff for the past year and I'm pretty pissed off at myself for it. This place, comparatively, is amazing. The second my boyfriend and I walked through the door, we gasped with delight. The fruits and veggies looked fresh and were decently priced. It was super quiet and not crowded on a Thursday evening. It was nice and clean and had wide aisles. The prices are borderline cheap. Butter is still $5.50 but that's cheaper than Key. Fresh shrimp was cheap.They have a parking lot and a bus stop right out front. They also sell plants right at the front door. I'll be going back tomorrow to buy some plants and more groceries! read more

You can tell these are mostly hipster transplants from other states because they obviously don't know the area. This location is nowhere near Myrtle Avenue, I have never seen a lady at the deli counter in the 4 years I've been shopping here and you can't "go around the corner" to another store because the only thing around the corner from here is Grover Cleveland High School's athletic field. The store is clean, I have never seen rotten fruits or vegetables, it has a decent selection for its size, with an improved selection over the years, and the prices are comparable to other stores in the area. Overall, this place is head and shoulders over the other supermarkets in the area. read more

I like this grocery store, primarily because it is convenient. It is the closest store to my house, and I don't have a car, so the less walking with groceries the better. I have noticed in the past few months that they have been making big improvements. There is a larger variety of cheese and beer, two things I greatly appreciate. Typically overpriced NY groceries, but I always check out the weekly circulars because they do often have good deals. Just make sure to check expiration dates! I have had SO MANY experiences with buying something hastily from this store, getting it home, and it being expired. So I try to take my time and really examine items from there. Also, a lot of times the fruit and veggies are very close to being bad, if not already bad. Don't buy if you're going to wait a day or two! Although, to be fair, I have noticed this improving. Another new item/section they added are smoothies and other chia drinks. I love them, but the two chia drinks I have purchased there have exploded! I contacted the company, and they said that means they were not properly refrigerated. Also have had yogurts well within their expiration date just be rotten, probably because of poor refrigeration/sitting out. Recently got delivery, because I was buying a lot of things and have to walk (couldn't carry it all). They have free delivery over $40, but of the 4 times I've used it, I've had problems twice. I always tip them per bag, but they act like it's such a huge hassle. One guy forgot an entire bag of groceries and I had to call him and convince him to come back. Another guy exploded one of my cans of diet pepsi and didn't tell me until it was in my house and had dripped ALL OVER my stairs and kitchen. Then, he shook it up to demonstrate it was punctures, flinging MORE diet pepsi on my kitchen. Did not appreciate that at all. The most recent time was very pleasant, though, so I guess it's hit or miss. Overall, I can see that they are improving and really appreciate it. A lot of the cashiers take time to be polite and friendly, which is always nice! If I had a car, I would really be thankful for the parking lot. read more

Just moved to the neighborhood from Manhattan. Used to living right next to a Whole Foods and having other wholesome and organic food options at my door step. Therefore I'm happy to give this grocery store 5 star rating given its relative decent assortment of organic produce. I didn't expect ANY. But I was instead pleasantly surprised to find some. Not a lot. But some. To the point: I was looking for organic, sustainable, healthier and cat food and litter options. During my first visit to the store I discovered there was none. So I asked the manager in the store if they could order some. Guess, what, they said YES! So now, we have Fresh Pine cat litter already in the store and World Best is on its way. They are also adding a few canned organic/wholesome canned cat food options as a result of my original request for better cat litter. I didn't request that but they took that on on their own. I'm not a big meat eater but I can tell you they have organic chicken and other meats that are organic. Organic dairy is also available in the store. I don't like my coffee without half and half and was so happy to see the Organic Valley and other organic brand options available. Bottom line is that this store has a staff that listen to their customers. And that alone should give them 5 stars. Bernardo is the main person I've been deal with there and he is extremely helpful. Better than key foods on wykoff for produce at least, especially since their boxes of salad leaves aren't rotting on the shelves typically. Good selection of meat with good specials too. As others have said the prices for paper goods are not great. The advertised specials generally ring up on the register for the most part, that seems to happen only half the time at key foods. Only real con is early closing time (9pm, except 8pm Sundays), oh and the Christian radio station they're always playing, though that can be pretty entertaining. read more

I only come here because it's right around the corner from my house. When I have the energy and/or the time I walk down to Myrtle and avoid this place. The produce is less than fresh. Definitely pay attention to what you are buying because I have seen fruits and vegetables here on the verge of rotting. Avoid buying salmon here unless you want to descale it yourself prior to cooking. I would give it two stars if they didn't have an organic meats section. The prices are about the same as any other grocery store in the neighborhood. Cashiers have a tendency to ignore the customers in order to have a conversation with each other and they ring you up at their leisure. Like I said, if you have energy or the time go elsewhere. The most conspicuous product it sells is the noise from a generator or other piece of equipment - it's been going on for months. Apparently, the lazy and extremely rude management doesn't understand that poisoning the whole neighborhood with this squeaky noise costs them business - I boycott this store - and everybody else should too, unless they fix this noisy thing. This supermarket is the most racist. When I went to buy some stuff for my kids etc .. The man at the dairy aisle was watching my SON like he was stealing ! Mind you we had a cart full of groceries. He goes and tells any staff member. Now you have two men watching us instead of restocking. They keep telling employees by now we have 5 men Watching and talking in Spanish. I'm Hispanic myself .
