With prices continuing to climb, Food 4 Less off Creston has become my "go to grocer." While they don't always have everything I need, not carrying some brands that I am partial to, I can usually get a majority of my shopping needs fulfilled. I can remember frequenting Food 4 Less in the late 80s when I was at college for the same reason I go now. Total cost of my visit. I couple that with the app, Upside 93% back on all purchased) and I am getting cash back. Not that much but this perk is more than Albertsons is giving at a cheaper price. I do like all the Mexican offerings in this store from veggies to meats to spices. Being able to find fresh peppers even dried peppers, tamale husks and nopales! The meats can be hit and miss. I have bought pre-packaged and from the counter. No doubt the butchers in town I use have a much higher quality on the beef, pork and chicken but when it comes to price... well there isn't much comparison. It's not a bad place to shop and while not a knock, I did enough my Food 4 Less experience in SLO a bit better than this location. That said, I can get, get out quickly using the service service checkstand and the employees there are always helpful and friendly with a smile. read more

I have been going to Food 4 Less since moving to Paso Robles 14 years ago. The store is clean, the staff is very helpful, the fruits and vegetables are fresh and reasonably priced, the shelves are well stocked and there is ample parking. They also have a great meat counter and ample Mexican food products. Love this store. Plus they are employee owned! read more

We were staying in this area for a week and we came to this location twice during our stay to pick up grocery orders. We should have learned after our first experience, but I am a firm believer that everyone has bad days and we all deserve second chances. Unfortunately we were disappointed both times. Just a few of the issues we had were that they gave us open smoked sausages that had turned grey and had to be thrown out. We received many items where it seemed they just hadn't paid attention to what we asked for, like getting whole mushrooms instead of sliced, or things that would have just taken a second to check. There was also a long wait for items to be brought out when the store never really seemed that busy. I hope they do a little more training on the grocery pick up program and customer service and improve. read more

It is what it is! You know what to expect going in. You must go in and follow the maze to get back out. I came in for holiday pie. They carry Linns and I come here every year to get Ollaberry pies. I went through the maze to get back to the store front but first grabbed a fresh head of lettuce that Dan requested. I got 4 pies. $23.98 each. Unlike smart and final, the lettuce is fresh ! Food 4 Less is my go to store. I got on yelp to see the store hours and notices that this store has low stars and I started reading the reviews. I came to the conclusion that some people are just unhappy no matter what. I have been going to this store weekly for years. The produce is very area is neat, organized well and fresh. Actually the whole store is clean and orderly. The staff are friendly and helpful. Keep up the good work. I appreciate you! I would like to respectfully suggest that you review the dress code policy and professional conduct with your staff. I was uncomfortable to see an employee's underwear exposed and (everything else) while they were kneeling down to do their work. OMG!! I bought a $100 worth of groceries, and one of the items didn't have a price on it, Loretta couldn't find another one like it. So I couldn't buy it. What's up with that? Then, Ariana comes around with a bad attitude and instead of finding something similar and ringing it up, these two women gave me a hard time and embarrassed me while I was in line Merry Christmas Bitches!! Selection is good. Produce is good. Prices are reasonable but the customer service is lacking. Plenty of stations but not enough checkers. They have a self serve line but instead of speeding up the process they won't give you bags to bag your groceries until you're finished checking out and paid. It's ridiculous. We were waiting for our to-go food from a nearby restaurant, and came by to kill some time. Walking into the store, you're forced to make a right turn to check out the drinks and some snacks. It then flows into the veggies/fruits section, and eventually the meats section towards the back. The organization of the store then leads to actual aisles to peruse from (versus a one-way direction). It'll eventually culminate in the cashier area, where you can do self checkout or go through a cashier. Not the prettiest of stores, but it'll likely have the main basics you need. It'll honestly have everything for a great party, too, with the sheer amount of choices they have for drinks and snacks. Prices are decent. Some stuff are at great prices; others, not so much. I'm happy to see they put in self checkout registers. Less time in the checkout line is always a big plus with me. However, I love the checkout people. So FAST and very friendly with great people skills. The employees that I see walking from the front of the store to the back (and vice versa) look to be on some kind of important mission but have always broke away from that if I ask to help me locate an item. That blows me away! They're actually happy to help and lead me directly to that item. Everything in the store is good. Aisles are hardly ever blocked by an employee restocking or restocking items left in the aisle. You know, like Wally World. Kudos to the meat department. They do everything to "meet" (no pun intended) my expectations. I really appreciate the older gentleman. He's fantastic! Overall scores. Employees =5+ Store items =5 Store cleanliness =5 Store stocked =4.9 Parking =3 (see below) Though, some of the changes there have not always been positive. Recently, I noticed stones cemented in between the store and the disabled parking space. I observed an elderly man get out of his vehicle and slowly walk across the stones. He twisted his ankle and was heading for a head-butt with the ground. Fortunately, he caught himself with his cane. Close one. I asked if he was okay, and he replied that he was clumsy and his ankle would shake it off. My thoughts? Take the rocks out and place slip-free concrete there. I came to food4less around 8:30 with my sister we went to self checkout and went about scanning out items. There was a old hag starring me and my sister as if we were going to steal. There were other people there but we were the ones who we getting targeted. Once we had finished scanning our things we had changed our mind about getting a bag and we had kindly asked the lady if we could have one and she had yelled at us did you pay for that ? We were both confused on why tf we would risk ourselves for 10 fucking cents. If we really wanted to steal a 10 cent bag we could've just taken it. Other of my family members have been harassed by this same employee. Seeing this kind of discrimination is crazy especially at a food4less. read more

Most of the workers seem nice enough. Some aren't. My biggest issue is there hours. There open and close times don't exist because they seem to close and open when they want. So if you're trying to go an hour to 30 before they open or close prolly don't or just be prepared to be yelled at to leave. read more

Yikes!! What a experience I had this evening.... I came to the store around 7pm in hope there wouldn't be a lot of customers. Boy was I wrong!! Entering the store I noticed they are not separating their carts at all! No clean carts for their customers. I was going to grab one and clean it myself with their wipes but there are none?!?! Okay, I proceeded in to grab my items I needed. Walking through the store not one customer or employee had on protection for the Rona. I witnessed folks shopping on top of each other like good old days... I thought to myself mind yo business, grab your items and get the hell out. They had markings on the ground to "enforce" social distancing but not one customer paid any attention! I waited for the dude eating his jerky out of the package to finish his purchase. It was lovely! He used the same fingers that fed him his snack to use the atm. So lovely! Grossed out I proceeded to continue with my purchase. As I put my items down the snatch behind me started putting her items down. Good gawd man I couldn't take it!! I left without my items. Such a damn shame Food 4 Less clientele could give two f's about the Rona. Btw, this store isnt really Food 4 Less. I found it to be kind of pricey. read more

My original one star review was for poor customer service and long lines due to lack of checkers. They put in self checkouts so I decided to give them another try. Today I was denied access to the frozen foods by two very unhelpful employees David H. and Vic. When I asked to speak to a manager I met Will who was also very unhelpful all I was told is that the freezers were broken and they would not retrieve the item I needed. Will said he was the manager so I explained to him that if nobody would help me I would be forced to put a review on yelp. He shrugged his shoulders and walked away. When I went to get the names of the employees for this complaint a cashier named Kristina very loudly yelled at me to not go back there, like I was about to cross the border of shopping carts that were blocking the aisle. I was insulted and embarrassed and frustrated that I couldn't purchase an item that I specifically drove there to buy. I considered leaving my full cart of groceries right there but I made my purchases and when I was about to leave an employee came from the back with my item, after being told five times they would not help me I told him he was a bit late since I had already checked out and if the freezers were broken I didn't want to risk getting sick due to improper food safety and storage plus I didn't trust that he didn't do something to the item like spit in my food. In conclusion I will never shop there again and I hope that the rest of the town does the same so this awful store is forced to close and hopefully be replaced by a better grocery store. Also the place is filthy the employees are rude and the management needs retrained in customer service. I will do my shopping at Albertsons from now on until this food 4 less is closed and replaced the citizens of Paso Robles deserve a better shopping experience than that which Food 4 Mess provides. I have contacted their corporate office and filed a complaint. I will update if anything is done to compensate me for the insults, embarrassment and frustration I was subjected to. read more

Customer service by employees was amazing!! I need to use a scooter because of problems with walking, as I started getting situated with one an employee offered assistance and helped. The person in the meat department offered assistance and asked if I was looking for something that I don't see let him know. Because I was using a scooter a young man at the self check out offered to do the check out for me and came out to help me with my groceries. Very refreshing and heartfelt to see this! BRAVO!! I was in line for nearly 2 hours this afternoon. It was the same last week and the same at 7 am a few days ago, etc. The lines stretched all the way to the frozen section and wrapped around to produce. Wow!! We had a terrible experience at Albertsons in Paso Robles where they told us that Food 4 Less was still open. Food 4 Less had posted hours open until 4pm so we rushed over. They were extremely welcoming and at 3:15pm made a store announcement that they were closing in 45min so to make your final selections. We did and checked out by 3:40pm. They were still letting guests in because they were open until 4pm. The cashier was super friendly and the whole experience was amazing! Those workers could have been home with their families but they had working hours until 4pm and they were kind and respectful up to their closing hours, unlike Albertsons. If I lived in Paso Robles I would make sure to support the business that adheres to their posted hours and not the one that makes it customers feel bad for wanting to shop at their establishment during their hours. read more

Food 4 less has really grown on me, I come from higher end stores, but they have a bakery, and a descent deli although not where you can get meats sliced for you, there friuts and vegetable are descent as well. You bag your own groceries, but those that need help can request a courtesy clerk. They also provide electronic chairs for those that need it and the employees are very nice, a large parking lot makes it a very pleasant place to get basic groceries for sure. read more

First of all they say nothing to people walking around with no masks, their employees wear masks on their chin, and even asked me to remove my mask to prove I'm 21?! This has happened 3 times! I'm almost 40 years old! My driver's license, matching credit/debit card with a picture of me on it also and my employer outfit with my name tag on it are all a ploy to get a six pack?! I'm a bit surprised I haven't written a review for them yet considering I religiously go to this grocery store for food. The store has an aesthetically pleasing layout that has a nice flow to it. Its aisles are wide enough for people with disabilities to get through and for 2 carts to be able to be moving in opposite directions. It's nice that it's not tight and packed. The staff are excellent. Some are more friendly and up for small talk as they check you out, others are more reserved and all smiles. I've never gone down an aisle without at least 1 employee asking if I need help with anything. I especially love it that they always ask when I have this really puzzled look on my face. It's like.. they know.. hahaha I understand the mixed reviews about their produce section. That's partially because there is always mixed quality. I however, am a hardcore fan of their sweet potato/yam section. If you're looking for small ones good luck. They rock the large and in charge lifestyle over here, their niche selection of vegetables and fruit from all over the world (they have more selection than other grocery discount stores), and their apple selection. Quality varies, but it doesn't hurt to ask a staff member what date they get fresh produce in and align your grocery shopping date for that time. I have only encountered this once in the year and a half I've been going here, but double check when a canned product has expired. I have bought an expired can of soup from them before. They may be reimburse you for your purchase. I've known other Food for Less/Food Maxx stores at other locations who do that so I would be surprised if this location did not. If there is only thing I would critique about the store is that it needs to have a better designated section for the motorized grocery carts for their disabled clients. They also need to be properly charged and checked that they are charging. Outside of that, this store is very disability friendly. read more
