Hi! I'm a waitress at fongs, I've been too many different places with food service before and overall looks, and I've even worked in a other Chinese restaurant, overall, the place js much cleaner, and the reviews we have from before hand on this sheet is close to 5 or 4 years old, we've got great staff who work hard and clean very well, lovely customers who come in, and nice decorations, and I personally can say the food is all made fresh in the kitchen, by hand, and they spend a good hour to start prepping everything right before they open, I've seen quite a few negative marks on here and it was also when the place was still quite new! Otherwise, the facility's are clean and nice, and, the soups always served hot and fresh, and we make sure to meet the needs of every single customer who comes in, id like to say, that fongs is family friendly, and we'd love to have more people come and enjoy the food, just like my own family has have before and as my coworkers family's have! read more

Why do you have a 10 year old kid working in this place? Isn't this against food handlers laws? Her mother works here, but is that a reason to allow a 10 year old to serve food,etc? We like the food here, but until you stop allowing a 10 year old to work in this place, we will not be back. Don't let all of these old reviews confuse you or frighten you away. The food is good, but you really need to know a bit - and I've sampled probably a quarter of the menu by now, so I can only recommend what I've found worth returning for. Being rural Idaho, there isn't much of a call for real Chinese food, and the menu shows that. Most of the menu are your standard fried meats with a sugar sauce, much as with other smaller restaurants. If you order curry at a Chinese restaurant, that's your fault (I admit, I tried it once out of curiosity, and was not impressed). Several of the dishes are needlessly salty, but I've found that the Mongolian Beef isn't bad- although it's made with a brown sauce, which is not what I'm used to. The Spicy Pepper Beef is absolutely wonderful- the beef is usually fairly tender, and you get more than your fair share of vegetables. These two have become our familys' go-to when we want affordable Chinese food without having to drive to Rexburg. If you just want a nice sized meal, their lunches are affordable and filling- but if you get the full size, you're more than likely going to have leftovers with you. I'd recommend the steamed rice over the pork fried rice, because in my experience, it is quite salty. read more

As Humphrey Bogart might have asked: "Of all the Chinese restaurants named 'Fong's' in Rexburg and St. Anthony (there are now 3), why did I have to walk into this place?" Well, I did and I was pleasantly surprised. Our dishes were freshly prepared and the portions were generous. The Kungpao Chicken was unusually good; the best I've tried in the area so far. The Beef Lo Mein was also delicious, as were their curry dishes. While their lunch specials menu looks suspiciously similar to every other Chinese restaurant in Southeast Idaho (or the USA for that matter), the deals are good and the quality way above average. While this is your basic fast food version of Chinese food, it is still tasty and satisfying. I'm no food snob, and I'm not too proud to admit that every now and then even I get a hankerin' for Mandarin Chicken & Chow Mein (No. 5). read more

We came here for my birthday dinner. We waited an hour. Didn't even get drinks till we asked where there were about 45 minutes after we ordered them. A few minutes later we got cold egg drop soup....and only enough for 3 of us (we were a party of six. After an hour of waiting and my toddler having a melt down because she had been sitting for an hour and was starving we left. So we went to a fast food restaurant for my birthday dinner. Open on Sunday and they serve beer! The desperate swing into St. Anthony on a roadtrip and so grateful to find this place. if I can give ZERO stars or even NEGATIVE, I would've. I don't normally write bad reviews but this place is absolutely a disgrace to Chinese food. & trust me, I know what 'authentic chinese food' is considering I'm chinese. my advice? GO TO PANDA EXPRESS INSTEAD!!! their food is 10x more authentic than this place. it's a rip off!!! my so call orange chicken is just a plate of fried balls, totally not even close to appealing. we also got the chow mein lunch special and let me just say, one of the first thing I asked was "where's the noodles??" we counted & there's only about 10 short stubby little noodles underneath a bunch of unappetizing vegetables. none of us finished our food. however, I will say that if for some reason you want to eat here, get the BBQ pork lo mein. my cousin was smart and ordered that; it was the only somewhat appealing and appetizing thing there. I'm very disappointed. The majority of my noodles were burned as well as the veggies and chicken. The chicken was very fatty and of poor quality. The rice was so bland and had almost no flavor. I usually go to Mandarin in Rexburg but I decided I'd give Fongs a chance and I regret it. I will not be eating here again. read more

I got the Mongolian Beef, an egg roll and egg drop soup . I ordered the egg drop soup for my 3 year old whose sick with the flu. She LOVES egg drop soup. She was excited to eat it and tried it and said it was 'yucky' so she didn't eat it. I tried it and it was so salty and eggs were tough. Egg roll was old and I could tell it had been made days before and fried once then probably stored then fried again. The bees had a weird texture and it was so unappealing. Never had problems like this with the Fongs on Main Street Rexburg so ill only go there from now on. Rice was so so. Overall pretty pissed I wasted my money on old food. read more

This is probably the worst Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. If I could I would have probably have given this a 0 or lower. I would rate that because the food there is really bad. For example, the food there is really salty and they give very little portions of the noodles. If you had no place to go then the best thing they got is the Lo mein. In my opinion you should go to Panda Express rather than here because they serve 10x better Chinese food there. read more

Service was good we felt sorry for the waitress. Wife and I ordered two different plates with alterations. Communication problem with the cook messed up my wife's plate so it was sent back. Waited 15 minutes for wife's plate to re-arrive after I picked through my plate. The worst Chinese food I have ever had. The wife picked through the worst Chinese food she ever had. They never offered to lower the price after all of their mistakes. We both set on the toilet for 2 days after the meal. We'll never eat there again. read more
