My friend and I ordered 500g lamb shoulder and 250 g ribs. The butcher even let us sample the shoulder before trying it to ensure we were ok ordering a big portion before doing so. Excellent service. He even threw in a bit of meat from the knee for us since it was our first time here! The lamb shoulder was incredibly juicy and tender. The meat was marbled and it didn't feel like any piece was just pure fat. Fattier areas melted into each taco I made and just added flavor to every bite. The ribs were fall off the bone and even more marbled than the shoulder. You could chew the meat with just your tongue and palate it was that soft. It comes with blue or regular tortillas (you can request blue), salsas, onion/cilantro, and even drinks! The blue tortillas feel softer to me with more flavor and I requested those. The jamaica was excellent and the waitress was pretty attentive. The inside was loud and festive with the Mirachi band but eveyrone was enjoying themselves. You cannot compare hidalguense to this: I almost feel like Netflix just didn't come here and/or rated based only on how fancy the interior looked. If you are eating barbacoa once in Mexico please trust me: this is the one to hit. It is well worth the extra distance. The ambience is basically foodcourt with no service. But the tables were clean and the bathroom was pristine. So it has clean tables and clean bathroom going for it; food not so much. By the way, will leave it or not clean bathrooms are the rule in Mexico not the exception. I have been to some bathrooms in gas stations that were cleaner than bathrooms in relatively expensive restaurants in the United States.

Every time we're in Mexico City, we HAVE to stop here - it's the law :) On this last visit to see my family, it was also my husband's first time to Mexico City so I was really excited for him. They have shows on weekends so make a reservation in advance to get a good table near the stage. On this last visit we were a group of 15. Their star dish is the barbacoa. It's not to everyone's liking but it's worth a try. Their carnitas are also delicious. They had a 13 piece mariachi band this night, and I LOVE mariachi. They also had a play going on w/the mariachi band. This restaurant experience was a highlight for my husband. They have an indoor playground for the kids. The drinks were good. they also have cafe de la olla (Mexican coffee). Lots of foreigners come here as well. On this night, there were folks visiting from Switzerland and other countries. As you'll notice, if it's your first time here and you're coming from abroad or celebrating something special, it's tradition to pass a napkin to the MC, with a note of what you're celebrating etc. and they'll announce it. My husband didn't know this tradition and my mom wrote a note for him ;) So he was super surprised when the MC called him by name in front of the whole restaurant and they welcomed him to Mexico City :) I was pleasantly surprised to see the staff were very considerate and conscious of covid-19. All of the servers were wearing masks and a face shield. All of the non-server staff had masks. You don't see the shield anymore in the US but was so happy to see it here. I felt a lot safer. Also throughout the restaurant, you'll see a wall of old photos of the owners with famous Mexican celebrities who have dined at this restaurant. If you're in Mexico City, definitely stop here!
