Not bad, first night in Mexico City. They definitely like their spice, so the things listed with double flames on the menu are for the adventurous. I came with a big group so we were able to order many items off the menu and try everything. The tacos were excellent with a great combination of flavors. The mixed drinks wee quite tasty too. If you're looking for unique combinations, different from the traditional, this is a hip place to try out. It fits the Polanco scene. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was comfortable with spacious seating and a huge photo mural of Acapulco. The music was purely 80's bands and a bit loud (we even asked for them to lower the music so we could hear our conversations).

They were incredibly helpful with an accident we had outside the restaurant. We sat outside afterwards and had a great meal and drink.

I…read moreremembered it as my favorite bite in CDMX, went back years later, and it still holds the crown. The torta is absolutely legendary. A fluffy bolillo roll drenched in juicy, slow-roasted pork, tangy pickled onions, and a salsa that comes in swinging with just the right heat. That salsa alone could clear your sins. It's spicy, vinegary, addictive. I was sweating and smiling like a maniac. It's a tiny hole-in-the-wall in Polanco. Cash only, plastic stools, no fanfare. You order at the counter and eat fast because there's almost always a line of locals and tourists in the know. And they serve one thing: cochinita. You can get it in taco form, on a panucho, or in the god-tier torta. Honestly, get all three and thank yourself later. The meat is fall-apart tender and deeply marinated, full of citrus and achiote. The panucho, with that crispy bean-stuffed tortilla base, is underrated perfection. Everything is messy, hot, and dripping with flavor in the best way. El Turix is the kind of place that reminds you why street-style food is unmatched. No hype, no gimmicks, just absolute fire. A must every time I'm in the city.

I love to try new foods and attempt the local language wherever I go... but still it's impossible to mask dumb: I ordered a delicious bowl of Eggs in Xalapa style tomato broth. It arrived but they brought tortillas.... Ok... maybe I should take the (what appeared to be) scrambled eggs out of the broth and into the tortillas? Maybe add some beans and salsa too? No, of course you cannot make tacos out of soup-- idiota!!!! I had to laugh at myself and only one passing server gave me the Rock's stanky eyebrow as broth squirted everywhere! This place is absolutely stunning. The views by the window, the food presentation, the artwork and decor inside and out: I loved it all. It was especially nice that this whole Palanco area is basically one big green park. Again, my Spanish isn't great and I need much more practice but the waitress and the management were so kind and supportive. I would definitely recommend this place for a solo adventurer but it's quaint and yummy enough for a nice group dinner.

I would've thought Mexico City had great food in general, but that wasn't the case. Was there for four days, ate many meals out and this was the only one I really enjoyed. Too bad the place was so hot and stuffy. It was cooler outside than it was inside. All they needed to do was open some windows. Service was great though.

Being from California, I was surprised to hear that they opened their newest location at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas last month. We ordered the tuna tostada that people rave about. It was ok. We could have used some more assertive flavor from acid or spice. I couldn't eat a whole fish (their signature dish), so we went with shrimp in their adobo rub in a taco and fish al pastor. These were also just ok, but the price tags are high for their entrees. I've seen pictures of others fish al pastor with onions and cilantro and that certainly would have added something I felt was missing. The one thing we ordered and loved was their seasonal mackerel ceviche which was in an apple/citrus/olive oil sauce. It was unique and delicious. I think their ceviche and aguachile are probably their strengths, but the cost is pretty high to leave feeling underwhelmed. Honestly, we will be going back to mi compa chava for better seafood

Located throughout the city, we visited the Polanco location while in the area, which is walking distance from Soumaya. For an early dinner on a weekday, we were the only patrons dining in, but shortly after, the place started getting busy. It's a popular spot. It even was a struggle to eat four of them, which is what my final tally was. My partner fortunately ate two of them, yet wouldn't budge in eating another when I offered. It wasn't that the food wasn't good because it certainly was tasty! It was just heavy, with the melted cheese and all the other fixin's, in addition to the al pastor meat. It was good, but not light. There was a lot to choose from at El Tizoncito, but it looked like most everyone was getting a some sort of an al pastor taco dish.
