I am so happy this place has been able to stay open through COVID. I came across them by happen-stance as I had landed in CDMX (Mexico City) and knew I was going to be in need of food and drinks! I called the restaurant and spoke with Roco who was the Server's Captain. He was so amicable and was able to accommodate my reservation as the last of the night. They have an amazing outside set-up and are so organized with social distancing tables etc. I got to the restaurant, baggage in tow, and was seated immediately. We had drinks/appetizers that both looked and tasted great! With that said, I would return for the Cabrera Ceviche ALONE. Super great recommendation by Roco! The absolute best way to spend our first night in CDMX! We were attracted by the eclectic, fun atmosphere of the place and the promise of good food, but in reality it ended up being an even more incredible experience! Our waiter was so kind and gave us a tour of the entire establishment, including telling us about the artists who designed the murals. The food was exquisite, even the chapulines (which none of us thought we would try)! I would recommend the Chile en nogada, which is only available during the months of August/September. Visited this restaurant with a group of friends on Dia de los Muertos weekend and it was a pretty good experience. I would have given it 5 stars however the service was below par. Two of our entrees came out real late when everyone was done with their dinner and we had to send it back. They were gracious to do so and not charge us for it. Besides that, the ambience is awesome and the Roma neighborhood is very charming. Food wise, probably 3.5 stars. The octopus tostada lacked flavor and the steamed fish was just ok. Has a very interesting cocktail menu- two of my favorites are the pink Carrillo and the cotton candy margarita! If you're looking to splurge a smidge, than this is a perfect place to do just that! The second floor seating overlooking the park was a perfect setting for lovely dinner, drinks and conversation after a long day of work. We started out with a few cocktails, but when in Mexico, I can't seem to get enough Micheladas! There's nothing more refreshing and satisfying than this Mexican staple. What I find strange is anywhere in the U.S a Michelada comes with tomato juice, here in MX it's never the go-to way. Yes you can get it like that, but in my experience thus far, it's not the go-to. Anywho, The tortilla soup was spectacular, and the complimentary basket of fried root veggies and sauces to compliment were out of this world! I was especially pleased with my ceviche flight too. Had a wonderful dinner here with my wife and in-laws. The drinks are pricey at 160 a pop but the atmosphere is gorgeous. The marlin tostada is crunchy and meaty fish is well balanced, salty, acid, heat and some sweetness from the onions. The sopasitos with the bone marrow was decadent and perfect. Their quesadillas were a table favorite. It's a great spot for a group and the service is quite attentive although I can see how it would be affected if it was packed. We had a great time and the whole dinner was inexpensive compared to what we'd throw down in Los Angeles. I ordered the mushrooms which were in a tomato stew. It was wonderful. I'm a pescatarian and this place is great for vegetarians as well. This is a great safe spot! read more

We visited the restaurant with locals. Our grinds from Mexico City chose very well. The menu offers local and regional Mexican food. It is decorated with different themes in each area. It is an old, two stories house. The service was great, very kind and attentive. The sizes of the plates are big! And the sauces spices! We really liked it. Everything was great here! We had a party here and they were super supportive!!! The place is really nice and cozy. They have a second floor with a special open salon. In the first floor you can find tables on an open space but surrounded with plants making it magical at night :) they have other salons but not as cute as these ones. Food was very tasty for a great price! They have flavoured water. Service was very attentive and patient. They helped with everything with a smile :) Parking can be a challenge on a busy day. They have vallet parking if you can't find any spot. read more

Searching for soup. Came across Cabrera 7 with a few selections of soups. My husband got the cochinita pibil ! Absolutely loved it! The meat, the fresh bread, the pickled purple onions. He loved it ! I highly recommend. I was feeling a little under weather so I ordered the Caldo de pollo, was perfect. The assortment of chips and bread was absolutely delicious including the fresh salsas. This is a great place for an experience definitely. The atmosphere is is amazing, and I love their attention to detail with decor. Our appetizers I think were the best part, we split the chicken tortilla soup (which they kindly put into two bowls for us) and gave both of us our own fixings(tortilla strips, cheese cubes, and avocado), which was a nice touch! The soup was delicious! They also provide you with bowl of different types of chips and multiple different salads which we enjoyed. For our meal, we both ordered fillete entortillada, which was a filet with a whole bunch of cheese slathered on top with salsa verde sitting atop a tortilla with beans on it. This was just ok...we didn't love the cut of meat for the price, however they did cook it well. This is the only reason for one star being knocked off...everything else was wonderful! read more

Cool ambiance and decor. We sat upstairs and had a nice view of the park and fountain across the street. Cocktails were strong and tasty. I had the Date Un Cáliz which was good. For food we only had Entradas. Tingas - this was the best thing we ate. The tingas had a great flavor and the chicken wasn't overly dry. Guacamole en molcajete- pretty good and they serve it with slices of oxaca cheese Salbutes de cochinita - also good but I'm not a fan of the fried tortilla (think gordita). Quesadillas Mixtas - these were good but there was no cheese in them ???? Overall a good experience and would go back if I am in the area. read more

I ordered their Veracruz style fish. It tasted really fishy. I expressed this to my waiter. He then had somebody else come by and I explained that it just wasn't good. I overheard our original waiter later on telling the hostess or manager that I just wanted to take it home. That was a total lie. He never came back to our table and when she came by to ask me if I wanted my to go box with the fish in it, I once again explained the same thing. They didn't care. They left it on our bill. There are too many good places close by to have to have this experience. In all fairness, their Carribean Salad is good. read more

Visiting Mexico City and a friend suggested we try 'Cabrera 7' in the Roma Norte Colonia. We were staying near el Angel de la Independencia, and it was a short 10 minute/1.5 mile Uber ride. We had an 830pm reservation, sat upstairs in a covered terrace with a beautiful view overlooking a small park 'Plaza Luis Cabrera.' Service was excellent from beginning to end; we enjoyed a Margarita and a rich Mexican Cabernet Montepulciano, Montefiore, from el Valle de Guadalupe. Our server Don José Luis, suggested we try the 'Cabrera Ensalada,' a hearty house greens mix with avocado, a masa ball and a house made vinaigrette dressing - this was delicious. Our wine was perfectly paired with an Arrachera steak (skirt steak) and a 'Torta' de Arrachera. Dessert had a tough job following our dinner entrees, and our Guava Cheesecake and Flan choices (and of course I ordered Flan in Mexico City! Duhhh!) did not disappoint. This place is a very solid default place for the area. whenever i cant decide where to go, I go here. the food is very solid and reasonably priced. start with the guacamole, which needs some salt and some jalapenos but is still pretty tasty and comes in a huge molcajete. I most frequently get the pipian verde, which I love, but I've also had various of the carnes and other dishes. the salsas are really nice too, very flavorful. good service, great atmosphere, and strong drinks! read more

I got the roasted duck with mole de guayaba - it was phenomenal, however since it was a duck leg, it was scare with meat. Overall flavor was fantastic though. My boyfriend got a custom made seafood cocktail (you can choose from all sorts of options!) and he loved it, the portion looked pretty big too. Their cocktails were amazing, we went there to drink like 3 times during our stay. They have a guayaba and mezcal drink (clearly I have a guayaba obsession) that was my favorite. read more

I grew up in Mexico City and go there often but I usually eat at friends' houses or family luncheons. I went to Cabrera 7 to have dinner with a group of old friends in late October. I was surprised to see that it was half empty because the food was very good. It is not a creative place, no experimentation goes on here, just pure old fashioned home-cooked Mexican food. I had the cerdo with verdolagas and it was very good. Having lived in the US for several years I have lost my spicy buds, the pork with verdolagas was not spicy, but very tasty. Everything tasted as it would have at my grandmother's house. I loved it! The frijoles were perfect, tortillas and salsa were freshly made and very good.I just loved it, the decoration is also very typical Mexican, but very simple in the old fashion bought in the flea market kind of way. I would definitely go again and recommend it to any tourist that wants to know how Mexicans eat at home. read more
