There's three rooms/bar areas that each play different music and have a different vibe going on. The cover is typically $20 and they do have an atm on site you can use. One of the bars is cash only the others take card. Usually my friends and I go to the zombie room because the bartender there is super nice and makes really yummy fruity drinks. This room has tons of neon paint and funky decor, it's also where they have live music playing and an upstairs area you can sit in. The other areas are indoor/outdoor and they have seats outside on the front and back patio you can sit and smoke at. Depending on a lot of factors you might love it or might not. There's a big mix of people you'll meet here and there are some interesting individuals you'll meet. For the most part the music is decent, lots of space to dance, good drinks, and you can definitely make it more fun with a great group of people.

They set up a big stage and outdoor amphitheater in the parking lot at Sunrise Mall (near Macy's). Maybe, like me, you're thinking "must be pretty small". No! It's pretty darn big. Plenty of room for looots of people and a food/beer/hangout area when you walk in. Parking is free because you just park by Macy's at the mall. Tickets are usually $25-$35 and they have a selection of about 10 different concerts each summer. The first year I saw The Commodores. It was AWESOME! They rocked it! The second year I saw Bel Biv Devoe and Boyz II Men.. friggin' incredible! I will definitely be going back this year. It's an awesome addition to the Citrus Heights area and a great opportunity to see some great live-music! You gotta go!

First time here…read more Pre-Show: Impossible to get them to answer the phone or to get show details online. The time printed on my ticket was incorrect - it said "Show: 7:00" instead of "Doors: 7:00" and that makes a huge difference. The guy at the door had all of the timing details and acknowledged that their "flyer guy" makes a lot of mistakes. Sounds to me like it's time for a new flyer person. But also, you have three or more people at the door - please have someone pick up the phone! Ambiance: The high level of security relative to other places I go (in cities not the 'burbs) gave off a certain kind of vibe. I dunno what the hell is going down in Roseville to warrant that. Inside, the plethora of taxidermy and antlers added to the vibe. So far, not sure what to expect. There is no in/out but there is an outdoor area for fresh air, or on this night more like a smoker's patio. It sucks to be waiting in line right next to a bunch of smokers. Show Venue: Once the show started, it proved to be a solid venue - great sound, lots of options for a view/seat at different price levels, a water station, clean restrooms, lots of screens showing the stage. Vibes: Was a decent crowd (perhaps due to deeply discounted tickets which is what got me there) but not too crowded. Lots of fans who clearly knew the songs. Perfect. Verdict: I'd definitely see more shows here and wish they'd broaden their artist selection because the venue size is great for upcoming artists of many genres. Line is half an hour. First opener starts at 7:45. At 9:00 three openers have performed and no sign the show will ever start. I get that no one works anymore so why would anyone need to know what time the show is. Everyone brought their kids to the bar so no one is worried about a sitter. Clean and kitchy in a suburban corporate sort of way, think recently flipped low income apartment reno, its the first time I have thought of abandoning a show after an hour and forty minute drive to get here.

Definitely not an IPA stop which is nice to have other options versus so many IPA centric places.

We attended the Third Annual Hot Jazz Jubilee this 2015 Labor Day weekend at the Double Tree by…read moreHilton in Sacramento, Ca. This is how a music festival should be done: half a dozen venues in a single behemoth hotel, with minimal walking between venues, in contrast to the Sacramento music festival Memorial Day weekend spread out over a mile of downtown. We made reservations for all four days of the Labor Day weekend, and arrived at 1215pm, checked in, got our room, and followed the Ophir Prison Band from the opening ceremonies at the lobby to a formal ballroom, with a 80+ folding chairs lined up. You know it's a zany group, when the band leader wears an oversize windup key mounted atop a helmet, saying wind me up to make me go! Band wears prison blue shirts and pants, with the words 'Ophir Prison' spelled boldly in back. Don't want to give anyone wearing such a uniform a ride in your car! Band plays lots of marching music, mixed in with classics like of the Sound of Music, throwing rubber ducks at the audience, while playing Swan River. Band leader could be a stand up comedian, with all the off color jokes! Big band swing music from the 1940s -before my time, and before your grandfather's time! Speaking of audience, the wife and I are among the youngest, and we are in our early 60s! Geritol generation, with 99% white -both in race and hair color! I'm the only nonwhite in the audience -well I wore thin white crisscross strap sandals. Wife says they look like ladies sandals, but nobody bats an eye! We get a quick lunch at Twigs café. Next band we catch up with is Shelly Burns band. Shelly is wearing red sandals in a mini skirt and looks great for her age -wish my wife could wear that kind of skirt on our days out on the town! She's a great singer, very animated, and the band does a mean impression of 'Duke, Duke, Duke of Earl!' Full house, with late arrivals like us forced to stand up, holding up the wall. Banjo players galore. Third act is Big Mamma Sue playing the washboard with a quartet including a piano player, a sax player and a banjo player. I'm a big fan of banjo music, and soak in the vibes in the RJ Bar, along with a 100 others, with 4 overhead TVs broadcasting the Giants' game. Great ambiance with full length windows stretching over onto the roof. Fourth act is Gator Nation, a Cajun-Zydeco music group, with music in French, just like in the old days. Group features an accordion player. Fellow Chinese Rick Quan lead guitarist, with foot stomping music rocking the stage! Now this is why we came to Sacramento, to enjoy music like this! They finish up with Jambalaya, the music, not the dish! We drop by Twigs café for dinner, and check out the Giants losing their 7th straight. Final act for the night is Stardust cowboys, a country western group. They are here because they play Western swing traditional tunes. Mandolin, accordion and fiddle players, in cowboy hats and cowboy boots, except for Vicki Campbell, female vocalist barefoot, with her toenails painted green. Definitely a group to watch out for at the other Jazz festivals! Western favorites like Deep in the Heart of Texas, finishing up with Happy Trails to You. Group does a rendition of rap music of the Beverly Hillbillies theme song black oil, can you believe it!? Saturday we get to Tom Rigney's show a half hour early, but all 500 seats taken or worse yet, saved when we get there. Tom in his cape and red cowboy boots rips up a storm on stage, including House of the Rising Sun and Orange Blossom Special. Lines for the women's bathroom, lines for the elevator from bottom floor to 1st floor, and lines for the truck lunch wagons serving Mexican and hamburgers! I'm dressed in shorts and sandals for outside temperatures in the 90s, but it is as cold as a meat locker inside, with the AC on full blast. Checking my toes for frostbite! Sunday at 630pm, Tom Rigney's show is half empty -everyone getting out of Dodge! A guy sits two seats away, tries to get up and is stuck. Bubble gum on his seat, and now its on his pants! He laughs and asks me if I put the gum on his chair. I say no, as I would never do that to a complete stranger. Now if I knew him a little bit better, than maybe! His girlfriend sat in the same chair and no stickum on her behind! Well she's not that familiar with him, as she doesn't pinch the gum off his behind! Water dripping onto the dance floor. Cover band stage…read more I've enjoyed watching local cover bands perform live on the Stage Bar. The setting has been renovated from what I remember from before. Now the setting has a short wall around the stage area and just outside of it is a huge bar with lots of seating. The raised stage has been the scene of performances from different genres whether you're in the mood for soul, classic rock, top 40, country, Latin, R&B, Motown, and the 80's! Bands usually perform Friday and Saturday nights from 9:30p - 1:30a and Sundays from 1:00-4:00p and most of the time country bands performing on Sundays. The Stage Bar is located inside Red Hawk Casino. It is right next to the elevators heading to the Waterfall Buffet and other restaurants downstairs. It has a dance floor and high and low table seating all around. Every once in a while a server will come around passing out free small water bottles to patrons. I like it that the Casino provided seating rather than just having to stand there to watch the performances especially when the bands go on their intermission breaks between sets. At least we don't have to wander away we can just hang out. People tend to leave after the second music set if there are no seats (like other casinos... I won't mention the name but the casino is in Lincoln). LoL Red Hawk is about a 45-min drive from my home so I pick my shows when I come here. I've seen some great local talent on stage including the Spazmatics [the Ultimate 80's New Wave show], Big Bad Boogie Rock [70's and 80's], Apple Z [Pop and Top 40], and Cover Me Badd [Today's Dance hits].
