He said the double vision should subside; it didn't. Two weeks after surgery I fell and broke my neck. Seven weeks later, I fell and broke my back. He tried to correct it with glasses, but they didn't help. After many months he finally agreed to redo the surgery in my left eye; the redo of the left eye has helped, but I told him I was still having double vision in my other eye. He did a laser procedure to break up floaters in my right eye; it didn't help. Still had funny, distracting dizzy, bad vision. After healing from a broken neck and back, I still needed to use a walker because of the bad vision in my right eye. I fell again, while up on the walker and broke off the top of my humerus bone. I have pleaded with him to do a redo of my right eye because that eye still had the lens with the original wrong measurements. He refuses to correct any more of his mistakes. He is a good surgeon for cataracts ....until he refuses to correct mistakes he made. It is like he doesn't believe me that I am having problems with the other eye too. Now, he said that I should get another ophthalmologist. I am really disappointed in him. Forgot to mention that with my original he said that measurements would have been different for the replacement lens had he remembered about the prior LASIK surgery.

I am a long-term wearer (10+ years) of multi focal specialty contact lens. Initially, it took…read moreseveral appointments and many, many contacts to find the right fit, but my previous optometrist was a rock star at working though this process. And there was no upchage for this service. I recently moved to Baldwin county and needed to replace the contacts. So in doing my research for someone specializing in these types of contacts, I found Dr. Ferris-Metzger at Premier Medical in Daphne. The appointment went well and I provided Dr Ferris-Metzger with my previous contact vials which has all the measurements and sizing for the fit of the specialty lenses. I just needed to know if any of my distance / up close vision had changed and check the health of my eyes. Fast forward 4 weeks to when the lenses arrived and I get an invoice for 3x what Ive historically paid for the lenses (they are sold as 2 pairs to change out after 6 months of wear). I thought there has to be a mistake... the wrong type of lens was ordered or the technician wrongly ordered "2" sets (meaning 4 pair). I communicated my concerns with Dr Ferris-Metzger's technician and her response basically explaining to me how the lenses work, how they are sold and that this was the price. No new information to me and no answers to the questions I had proposed. At this point, I contacted my previous optometrist 4 hours away, to inquire about any price increases. They confirmed the price was what I'd paid previously (which was $600 less than Premier Medical) After that, I tried calling a business manager and was put in touch with the contact lens person. This went the same way as the previous conversations. No one appears to be interested in my honest attempt to understand the price difference at this place. And to add insult to injury, Dr Ferris-Metger had the contact lens associate inform me that I would be charged a contact fitting fee of $40 which I would have to pay before she would release my prescription (yes I asked for it as a matter of principle). If you will see above, there was basically no "contact fitting" because I provided my previous measurements. I now have an appointment with an optometrist in Fairhope. Their office confirmed that the price of the lens will be what I'm used to paying ($700) and I'll pay for another exam. But I don't think I have a choice. And yes, I absolutely love these lenses and understand that they are a premium product. But charging $600 more for the same lens I can purchase down the street is insane. Bottom line -- buyer beware.

I came in specifically requesting glass prescription lenses in an Oakley full-rim frame --…read moresomething this office told me a couple of years ago could be done. This time I was given conflicting information by different staff members. One person said glass lenses could be ordered (with a long wait time), but after she spoke with another staff member, I was suddenly told that glass 'isn't possible' in any Oakley frame and that my only options were polycarbonate or Trivex. I prefer glass lenses for durability and scratch resistance. They told me because of my high Prescription Lens Index they can't do glass in the Oakley frame I requested. On the Mohs scale glass is 5 - 6 (extremely hard), Trivex is 1.5 - 2, and Polycarbonate is 1 (extremely soft). It's easy to see why I want glass for scratch resistance.
