Downtown Mansfield is as quaint as they come, and no business embodies the same vibe as much as Flying Squirrel Coffee Co, which brews the best coffee in the city. It's open earlier than everything else along this stretch of Main and is easily one of the most popular spots frequented by locals (#1). The irony is that the interior vibe doesn't scream Mansfield, but reminiscent of the Pacific Northwest (#2) with its eclectic and colorful decor. There is just enough seating for solos and small groups, along with an outdoor area in the back for folks looking to enjoy nature while sipping on a brew. The WiFi is also on point and while tiny, the bathrooms are clean. Many of their signature drinks skew sweet, such as the grasshopper, which has peppermint and white chocolate. The squirrel is a nice mix of macadamia and white chocolate, which is a popular choice. Their smoothies, frappés, and brewed drinks such as their nitro and cafe au lait, are refreshing and reasonably priced. There are also monthly specials that are seasonal and feature unique combinations, such as the galub jamun (aka a chai latte with cardamom and rose syrup) or the baklava (pistachio, honey, brown sugar latte). It's a bit of a deviation from their regular menu, but a nice payoff. Lastly, I can't say good enough things about their customer service. The ladies working at the counter are always friendly, and the owner is very welcoming and accommodating. While I don't foresee myself in Mansfield often, I know this is definitely going to be a spot that I would return to constantly. ___________ (#1) And tourists. Like me. (#2) If you told me this was in Eugene, OR, I'd believe it.
I will visit the Flying Squirrel any opportunity I get. They're located in downtown Mansfield, so it's a little bit of a trek for me, but it's worth it. Their coffee is deliciously strong, their muffins and pastries are tasty. Their service is spot-on. Sometimes you might have a bit of a wait because everything is made fresh and to-order. The environment is my favorite. Airplane parts make up benches and wall decor. Search for the squirrels hidden everywhere, including the ceiling beams. Enjoy!
Flying Squirrel is right down the street from where I work, and after this visit, I'm very happy that's the case. I didn't want anything that included dairy, but I did want something familiar. I decided to go with the Chai, and the young lady at the register suggested I replace the milk with oat milk. That was a new combination for me, but I agreed. It was delicious! I really enjoyed it, and outside of my visit, I never would have considered replacing the dairy with oat milk. I also picked a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant, which was exceptional. I removed the top croissant, and I could still taste the freshness and butteriness of the bread. It was so fresh, and the chicken salad was perfect! As before, the ambiance is refreshing and rustic. When meeting with friends, I'd suggest FS as a meet-up spot. It's cozy, warm, and the customer service is always so welcoming and knowledgeable.
I brought the whole family over to Flying Squirrel for some goodies. I ordered the Sopapilla latte while my husband ordered the S'mores latte. We both enjoyed our sips, and the staff were all so friendly. And they do have Apple Pay in case you were wondering! When I visited, it was popping with customers. I did find a spot to sit and sip by the back entry door though. The energy was incredible on this beautiful Texas morning!
was in town after the solstice to attend to some unpleasant business but first I needed a spot of coffee and some sweet; I was hoping to get it comped somewhere but the dozen days of donuts had ended so that was sadly a non-starter. Flying Squirrel Coffee Co seemed a fine place to get an adult-style beverage and after a brief but productive conversation with the baristress I put in a request for coffee and a biscuit before finding a window seat at which to wait. my macchiato and a cranberry muffin came up shortly and I moved out to the sidewalk and mid-sixties temps to take it all in. high tops are clean enough so with a real fork and plate I had a bite and a sip and a bite and then finished my coffee while nursing the muffin and watching the world go bye. the cranberry muffin was more of a cupcake; light and thin bodied but surprisingly good for an actually sweet sweet where I was looking for something more rugged in texture and substance albeit not branny. my espresso shot was pleasantly sharp with a spot of milk that exists for appearances only - never quite justifying the additional effort or expense which is entirely and exactly the point. BTW: interesting artworks in the alley include a perturbed seven-foot tall cat; a trio of malingering slugs; and finally a pair of houses that are either very small or very far away...
Love this coffee shop! So many flavors and syrups. My current favorite is chai woth cookie butter. Friendly and fast service with a fun squirrel and aviator vibe! Definitelya Mansfield staple!
I'm visiting from out of town and decided to try some local coffee shops in the area. This was one of the best stops I made--the service was wonderful and the coffee was delicious. It's a small inside but there was plenty of tables and seats to relax and work from or just to enjoy some company. I recommend the squirrel coffee- pleasantly delicious and the perfect pick me up!
Cute coffee spot and well decorated for christmas. Staff is extremely friendly. I got their sweater weather drink which was truly amazing. Will be for sure back again in the future.
Update: December 19th The Flying Squirrel is an amazing place, as soon as you enter the establishment you can smell the aroma of exquisite coffee that they make. Once again, I was very impressed with the two young ladies that greet you with a smile. They are knowledgeable and very helpful. I ordered the squirrel on ice. Yummy ! The establishment decor is an aviation theme and it's fun looking for all the little squirrels about the building. (Not real of course) It's quaint, appealing, and an excellent place to get a fantastic cup of coffee in Mansfield, Texas. You can park on the street or in the back. They are disabled friendly. Whether you sit inside or outside, it is very clean and I enjoyed the view. (I enjoy people watching at times). Yet their wonderful decor I believe will keep you busy checking everything out ! I highly recommend Flying Squirrel at 110 N Main Street. Treat yourself to a wonderful cup of coffee or on ice. I promise they won't let you down on the flavor and the hospitality. Flying Squirrel Coffee Co is a great coffee spot that had its own unique atmosphere and decor. The menu is extensive with signature and seasonal drinks. The service was amazing with the staff taking time to answer all our questions and make suggestions. Definitely recommend stopping in if you're in the area or passing through.
Today my husband and I went to Flying Squirrel for the first time; I finished my coffee more than half way, then opened the lid as we arrived home, only to my shock see a living fly that's still moving in the cup! How disgusting and unsanitary!! The City of Mansfield Health Department should be notified and the City needs to inspect this coffee shop very carefully to ensure coffee/food they sell is safe for consumption.
I love when a coffee shop has a theme. The Flying Squirrel DEFINITELY commits to their theme! Planes & squirrels together seems like an odd concept but they make it work. This place is quirky & it's exactly the kind of spot you'd want to show to your friends. There is limited seating, so be mindful of that if you're planning on coming to hang out versus grabbing your coffee to go. It can also get pretty crowded during busy times while everyone is standing around waiting on their to go orders. What I loved most about this place was the staff. They were all very friendly, seemingly happy, and never missed a beat despite being slammed with customers on a Saturday morning. I appreciate that they bring your coffee directly to you, even being as busy as they are, instead of calling out your order. Sometimes it really is the little things. I didn't get to snap a picture, but they had a seasonal menu that was so cool! I'm used to places having the traditional pumpkin spice fall drinks, but Flying Squirrel had a Halloween drink board! I'm also a sucker for a good iced shaken espresso and I don't find it on many menus that aren't mega chain coffee shops. I appreciate that they have it here! I ordered one with brown sugar & vanilla and it was exactly what I hoped it would be. Their coffee just has such a good roasted flavor. Overall, there's lots of options to choose from for coffee drinkers & non coffee drinkers. There's so many options in flavors that I truly believe there's something for everyone. My only regret is that I didn't snag a white chocolate raspberry muffin.

I'm never on this side of town but was randomly in the area! I stopped by the cute Mansfield downtown and checked this spot out. I got the Grasshopper which was a minty, frothy, delicious cup of joy. This place had a cute smaller interior, but it was enough space where you didn't fill on top of other customers. The menu was amazing! There were so many options in variety and flavor and it took me a minute to narrow it down to what I wanted to order. The staff was super nice and courteous, and although I didn't indulge, their muffins looked divine. If this place was closer to me I'd most definitely be a frequent member. An absolute treasure in down town Mansfield! I stopped by for a quick espresso pick me up before heading shopping and luckily found parking right on Main st. Inside was a festive plethora of holiday decor! The menu also had special holiday options, however I saw butterbeer latte on the menu and had to try it. I also ordered a lemon scone. I was sadly disappointed when she asked if I wanted it warm and was given a hot scone in plastic with a fork. My drink was delicious but could have been stronger. This morning I got to try out their December holiday menu! I got a hot Santa's Cookies and stayed to enjoyed the drink! It came in a huge comfy coffee mug! Which made it even more enjoyable! I didn't realize that they had an outside patio in the back but that maybe more enjoyable in the spring or summer time! Lots of seating to study and enjoy the shop! This coffee shop is close to my work and in a cute downtown area so we stopped in for coffee. The baristas were great and able to give recommendations and answer questions. I ultimately ordered the mexican mocha half sweet. It was so good, I was drawn in by the fact it has a small amount of cayenne in it. I was looking for a nice spot to sit and get some work done. I drove by this place a couple times, finally decided to stop one day and I'm so glad I did! I got an iced coffee with a brownie. The brownie was delicious and they warmed it up, perfection. The iced coffee was smooth and tasted great. The employees were so nice and their logo is adorable. I came here for 12 days of Yelp and was pleasantly surprised by the location. Downtown Mansfield was decorated for Christmas and had public parking nearby. The barista was helpful with their holiday menu. They had a page full of options of variations of hot chocolate. I went with the pumpkin spice hot chocolate and a blueberry and lemon scone that was from a local bakery. The pumpkin spice hot chocolate was fresh, flavorful and had a good balance of sugar, milk, chocolate and pumpkin spice. The lemon and blueberry scone was dense, flavorful and subtly sweet. The pumpkin spice hot chocolate paired well with the scone. I'll have to check out other shops in this area as well as return to the flying squirrel. I stumbled upon this gem through a Yelp Elite event! Let me just start off by saying that flying squirrels coffee has their flavor on point! I love that they have many different flavors to choose from, including holiday specials. This is not your regular coffee shop. It is a unique by name and flavor! Atmosphere was also very retro. Parking may be hard if downtown Mansfield gets busy. The latte I ordered was called Santa's Cookies and it literally tastes like Santa's Cookies. The baristas are very talented. 5 stars for Mansfield. Probably the best overall straight-up coffee shop I've been to in Mansfield so far. It has a somewhat kitschy interior with a decent amount of indoor seating plus a couple of small cafe tables along the sidewalk out front. They use and sell Salter Bros coffee, roasted in Arlington. I tried the Blushing Beauty (strawberry & rose) seasonal latte and the banana walnut coffee cake. The latte was good but the coffee cake tasted a little bit stale, even warmed up. Wow! I came into this wonderful coffee shop for something other than Starbucks! Yum! Wonderful service, atmosphere, and delicious drinks! I live in the area and did not realize they were here. If you're looking for a tasty treat and a "home-towny" atmosphere, you need to walk not run to this coffee shop. I will be back... like tomorrow! The Maple Leaf Latte has a maple flavor, mixed with butter pecan for a decadent warm surprise for your mouth! My son got the Snickerdoodle. Fantastic addition to this small, growing city!!! Friendly service, delicious coffee, beautiful shop. It's exactly what we need! Flying Squirrel is located right on Main St in the middle of Mansfield's tiny, old downtown. I was excited to try them out when I first saw the business pop up. To be honest, I didn't set my expectation high at all, especially after being disappointed with pretty much all the other non-chain coffeeshops in Arlington/Mansfield area. To my surprise, this has become my go to favorite coffeeshop! For each holidays, they go all out with decoration. It changes every month or every couple months depends on which big holiday is coming up. So far I have seen their decorations for Xmas, Valentine's, St. Patrick's, and Easter. The space is rustic, but the decoration is definitely the highlight and kinda give them the signature. 1 star It's a full on family owned business, which we love to support whenever and as often as we can. The owner is extremely nice and friendly. Besides couple young staff members, I'm about 95% sure she also has her 2 kids work at the shop as well. Not only do the kids do everything, 1 of them is also the occasional entertainer, playing his guitar and hosting a little live music session in the shop. 1 star I have not tried any of their pastries, but we love their latte. My all time favorite coffee shop is Buon Giorno, but Flying Squirrel makes me feel like I've been cheating on my beloved coffee shop by coming here more often for their delicious latte, which I think is just as good as Buon Giorno (this is extremelyyyyy rare, and plus, they're wayyyy closer too). Definitely 2 stars So far they don't offer any latte art, but it doesn't feel right for me to take away a star, or maybe I'm being biased. Anyhow, they just added boba drinks to the menu, so I'm positive they're open to change and improvement, which I have a feeling latte art will soon be offered here as well. 1 star They have only been opened for a few months, so I really hope they would make it thru this crazy time. This place has more five-star reviews than most. What should I do to make my review distinct? Enough people recommend it. It's worth a try. No fear of regret. Born in Java, coffee is precious. I will hunt for decent coffee. I can't remember what coffee I ordered, but it was mainstream. Nothing out of the ordinary. Let's see if they can make quality standard coffee. It was a mocha cappuccino. My wife tried the orange-flavored Edgar Allan Poe. I liked mine. She did not. She said it tasted funny. It shows the risk of trying new drinks. Not much in the choice of food. The focus is on the drink, not the food. We ordered a blueberry muffin. Good, but nothing special. I would stick to the coffee. The staff were friendly. The father of the owner was a pilot. This is where the name came from. This is why there's aviation decor. For me, it's the atmosphere which stands out. Full of eclectic objects with an aviation theme. Yet, it was cozy. Aged and familiar. It feels like the opposite of a modern café like Starbucks. Everyone I saw seemed relaxed.
