I had heard great things for months now, and I finally decided to swing by The exterior signage and decor will draw you in. There's bright turquoise and old plane seating set up like an outdoor bench. The interior is cozy. There's a bunch of decor, fixtures and furniture that were repurposed from old aircraft. It's a really neat concept The menu offers coffee, espresso drinks, teas, cold brew, smoothies, lemonade, etc. There are classic drinks as well as signatures and seasonal drinks. You can also get pastries and other snacks The staff were efficient. There was a line and I couldn't see the menu too well, and they were so efficient that by the time I got to the front there were people behind me and I felt slightly rushed to make a decision. The good news is I tried a couple different drinks and it seems like you can't pick a bad one Some tips: Apparently there is also another location in Crowley (if that's more convenient for you) Explore the historical downtown while you're there. Downtown Mansfield is as quaint as they come, and no business embodies the same vibe as much as Flying Squirrel Coffee Co, which brews the best coffee in the city. It's open earlier than everything else along this stretch of Main and is easily one of the most popular spots frequented by locals (#1). The irony is that the interior vibe doesn't scream Mansfield, but reminiscent of the Pacific Northwest (#2) with its eclectic and colorful decor. There is just enough seating for solos and small groups, along with an outdoor area in the back for folks looking to enjoy nature while sipping on a brew. The WiFi is also on point and while tiny, the bathrooms are clean. Many of their signature drinks skew sweet, such as the grasshopper, which has peppermint and white chocolate. The squirrel is a nice mix of macadamia and white chocolate, which is a popular choice. Their smoothies, frappés, and brewed drinks such as their nitro and cafe au lait, are refreshing and reasonably priced. There are also monthly specials that are seasonal and feature unique combinations, such as the galub jamun (aka a chai latte with cardamom and rose syrup) or the baklava (pistachio, honey, brown sugar latte). It's a bit of a deviation from their regular menu, but a nice payoff. Lastly, I can't say good enough things about their customer service. The ladies working at the counter are always friendly, and the owner is very welcoming and accommodating. was in town after the solstice to attend to some unpleasant business but first I needed a spot of coffee and some sweet; I was hoping to get it comped somewhere but the dozen days of donuts had ended so that was sadly a non-starter. Flying Squirrel Coffee Co seemed a fine place to get an adult-style beverage and after a brief but productive conversation with the baristress I put in a request for coffee and a biscuit before finding a window seat at which to wait. my macchiato and a cranberry muffin came up shortly and I moved out to the sidewalk and mid-sixties temps to take it all in. high tops are clean enough so with a real fork and plate I had a bite and a sip and a bite and then finished my coffee while nursing the muffin and watching the world go bye. the cranberry muffin was more of a cupcake; light and thin bodied but surprisingly good for an actually sweet sweet where I was looking for something more rugged in texture and substance albeit not branny. my espresso shot was pleasantly sharp with a spot of milk that exists for appearances only - never quite justifying the additional effort or expense which is entirely and exactly the point. I will visit the Flying Squirrel any opportunity I get. They're located in downtown Mansfield, so it's a little bit of a trek for me, but it's worth it. Their coffee is deliciously strong, their muffins and pastries are tasty. Their service is spot-on. Sometimes you might have a bit of a wait because everything is made fresh and to-order. The environment is my favorite. Airplane parts make up benches and wall decor. Search for the squirrels hidden everywhere, including the ceiling beams. Enjoy! read more

Flying Squirrel is right down the street from where I work, and after this visit, I'm very happy that's the case. I didn't want anything that included dairy, but I did want something familiar. I decided to go with the Chai, and the young lady at the register suggested I replace the milk with oat milk. That was a new combination for me, but I agreed. It was delicious! I really enjoyed it, and outside of my visit, I never would have considered replacing the dairy with oat milk. I also picked a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant, which was exceptional. I removed the top croissant, and I could still taste the freshness and butteriness of the bread. It was so fresh, and the chicken salad was perfect! As before, the ambiance is refreshing and rustic. How disgusting and unsanitary!! Update: December 19th The Flying Squirrel is an amazing place, as soon as you enter the establishment you can smell the aroma of exquisite coffee that they make. Once again, I was very impressed with the two young ladies that greet you with a smile. They are knowledgeable and very helpful. I ordered the squirrel on ice. Yummy ! The establishment decor is an aviation theme and it's fun looking for all the little squirrels about the building. (Not real of course) It's quaint, appealing, and an excellent place to get a fantastic cup of coffee in Mansfield, Texas. You can park on the street or in the back. They are disabled friendly. Whether you sit inside or outside, it is very clean and I enjoyed the view. (I enjoy people watching at times). Yet their wonderful decor I believe will keep you busy checking everything out ! I love when a coffee shop has a theme. The Flying Squirrel DEFINITELY commits to their theme! Planes & squirrels together seems like an odd concept but they make it work. This place is quirky & it's exactly the kind of spot you'd want to show to your friends. There is limited seating, so be mindful of that if you're planning on coming to hang out versus grabbing your coffee to go. It can also get pretty crowded during busy times while everyone is standing around waiting on their to go orders. What I loved most about this place was the staff. They were all very friendly, seemingly happy, and never missed a beat despite being slammed with customers on a Saturday morning. I appreciate that they bring your coffee directly to you, even being as busy as they are, instead of calling out your order. Sometimes it really is the little things. I didn't get to snap a picture, but they had a seasonal menu that was so cool! I'm used to places having the traditional pumpkin spice fall drinks, but Flying Squirrel had a Halloween drink board! I'm also a sucker for a good iced shaken espresso and I don't find it on many menus that aren't mega chain coffee shops. I appreciate that they have it here! I ordered one with brown sugar & vanilla and it was exactly what I hoped it would be. Their coffee just has such a good roasted flavor. Overall, there's lots of options to choose from for coffee drinkers & non coffee drinkers. There's so many options in flavors that I truly believe there's something for everyone. A downtown treasure! I highly recommend stopping by if you get a chance. Due to it being small, seating is limited. What's pretty neat about it is that even though they have some small tables, the larger ones (seats 8 or so) you just share with other patrons. There is also seating outside, both in the front & back. I'm not sure how it's always decorated but it was very patriotic, maybe since we celebrate Independence Day in July. Whether it's seasonal or like that all the time, I liked it. Very cute! Huge drink menu, it can be overwhelming but I loved it. I'm a coffee person but for someone who isn't its very detailed & explains what each type of drink is (like my friend asked what is a cortado) with something for everyone. Flying Squirrel is everything you want a coffee shop to have and to be... it's welcoming, cozy, quiet but not too quiet, there's comfortable seating and plenty of it, it smells good, there's WiFi, a happy friendly staff that knows what they're doing, and delicious drinks, of course. I last visited before Christmas and they were in the holiday spirit with glittery decor and seasonal drink specials. I had an iced s'mores latte that I'd recommend anytime. I like the level of sweetness in their lattes, the syrups aren't overpowering and the coffee is what really shines. I love this little piece of downtown Mansfield with the historic buildings and cute boutiques and leisurely, laid back vibes. It really makes you want to find a place to sit down, relax, and refuel. We checked out historic downtown Mansfield and the wildly decorated Flying Squirrel Coffee Co. The space isn't big; but it's decor certainly is colorful and lively. The coffee beverage choices we made were very tasty and we hung around awhile to enjoy the scene. They also offer some food items to pair with your beverage and we shared the yummy coffee cake. (The baked items come from somewhere else.) Especially intriguing was the actual Flying Squirrel plane parts built into the coffee shop. There's gallery art for sale on the walls and Flying Squirrel merchandise if you feel so inclined. We like what the city has done and is doing with the old downtown and this coffee shop is a terrific addition. We will be back! read more

I'm officially in love with this area of Mansfield! There is some neat art up and down the street. The coffee shop is comfy, cute, and with amazing theming. Staff was amazing, they helped me pick out an awesome drink and a treat. The drink I tried was tasty. The peppermint comes through wonderfully, and there was marshmallow fluff taste as well. I also got a banana chocolate chip loaf as a snack and it's a new favorite! I'm a big banana and chocolate person so it was a no question grab for me. It's just the right size if you are planning on splurging on a treat just for yourself, but big enough that you could split it in two for a small snack for both people. This was my first visit to the Flying Squirrel, but I'll definitely make it a stop anytime I'm in the Mansfield area in the future! It's a quaint, warmly-decorated little coffee shop that goes all-in with it's flying theme, with a wing that serves as counter seating in the front window and what appears to the cut-out of an engine that serves as a booth. The staff couldn't be more welcoming and we really enjoyed our visit. I selected the Santa's Cookies Coffee from the December Specials and it really delivers on the buttery cookie flavor. As one that's not into sweeter drinks, I'd probably ask them to back off on some of the flavoring in the future, but that didn't distract from the wonderful - and Christmasy - experience. I'd highly recommend if you're in the Mansfield area. Because parking spots are limited along Main Street, I'd recommend just circling behind the Flying Squirrel onto Smith St and there is a public parking lot at Smith and Elm that is close by and also easy to get in and out. read more

I came here for part of the Yelp 12 days of Christmas Cheer. This was such a cute coffee shop in Mansfield. It's very cozy and eclectic inside. They have an extensive menu of drinks so I had a hard time choosing something. The baristas were very friendly and recommended the Netherland which they both said was very good. This place had a cute smaller interior, but it was enough space where you didn't fill on top of other customers. The menu was amazing! There were so many options in variety and flavor and it took me a minute to narrow it down to what I wanted to order. The staff was super nice and courteous, and although I didn't indulge, their muffins looked divine. If this place was closer to me I'd most definitely be a frequent member. An absolute treasure in down town Mansfield! I stopped by for a quick espresso pick me up before heading shopping and luckily found parking right on Main st. Inside was a festive plethora of holiday decor! The menu also had special holiday options, however I saw butterbeer latte on the menu and had to try it. I also ordered a lemon scone. I was sadly disappointed when she asked if I wanted it warm and was given a hot scone in plastic with a fork. My drink was delicious but could have been stronger.
