We had the fried Chicken and 2 sides; For me that was green beans and black eyed peas. My partner had Mac & cheese and dumplings. It was all good and reminded me of home farm cooking. Let me start with the good: this place looks like it knows what it's doing. The ambiance is simple,…read moretasteful, and well-designed--perfect for a cute dinner out. We were greeted with a smile the second we walked in, and our server was friendly and attentive the whole time. A+ for vibes and service. Now, the food... oof. We started with the appetizer special of the night, which, shockingly, was the best thing we had--and it was aggressively mid. Everything that followed? Two thumbs down. The peas I ordered as a side; I swear were marinated in red onion slivers for several decades. Even after picking out all the visible onion, (as shown in pictures) it still tasted like Shrek's bathwater. If I had ordered this on a first date, I would've just gone home to save us both the trauma of onion breath. There's no way a single person has ever eaten this dish and said, "Wow, that was delightful." I'd actually pay money to see the facial expressions of anyone taking a bite. My partner's mashed potatoes? So dry and dense I could've thrown them at a wall and they'd stick. Come back the next morning and they'd be holding up drywall. Not a single drop of moisture in sight. I asked for crushed red pepper for my flatbread (thinking maybe it could be saved). No - No pepper flakes. Apparently none of their flatbreads are allowed joy or spice. Even if they did have red pepper, I don't think it would've saved it. Best thing we had all night? My partner's chicken. And even that was dry. So, that says a lot. Final verdict: come here for a drink and a snack before going somewhere else for the actual meal. It's a great pregame spot, but if you're hungry-hungry, keep walking.

French bread toasted and topped with fried oysters, poached eggs, and a Cajun cream sauce. So delicious and perfectly prepared. Bloody Mary paired very well with this dish! French cut pork chop, blackened, and topped with mango chutney! So tender and juicy! I chose collard greens as one side and they have that true southern taste! Red beans and rice as the second side...a personal favorite. We sat outside as it has a great vibe since it's located at an old train depot! If you're lucky a train will pass by while you're dining! True to the quote- I got my call right at 45 minutes. We had a party of 8- me and John, my sister, her hubby and her 2 girls & my mom and her man. I put in an appetizer order for cheese curds right away, knowing I wanted to try them- but when you order appetizers, service slows. They don't take your order for regular food right away. Meanwhile, bathroom situation here is one stall rooms. AKA- one at a time- that was a little brutal. Cheese curds were phenominal- only better I've had were in Milwaukee! Food was ordered and it took forever and a day- my poor niece didn't get her food till everyone was finished eating. She actually left and stood in line for the bathroom to avoid watching us all eat. I felt horrible for her. Meanwhile- everyone's food was fabulous. Except mine. John and I ordered the philly cheesesteak. There was not nearly enough meat. The burgers that hit the table- huge, juicy and cheesey. The charcuterie board- spectacular! The bowl of soup huge and filling. Our cheesesteak- bread and a ton of cheese and over cooked meat that didn't meet the ratio of meat-bread-cheese. For a very small, curated menu- I expected everything to be delicious. I was genuinely sad that our meal failed. And the wait on Addy's lunch was unacceptable. Those 2 things bumped a 4 star review down, I actually selected 4 when I started typing and then changed it to 3 because recalling this memory to write this up... sigh. I love supporting small. These are fixable issues.
