One of the big let-downs appertains to the poor condition of the dining area and awkward design choices. However, they make up for it in their incredibly friendly service. Tasty Choice is super tasty! This was my first time visiting and I felt that the interior design of the store is really awkward but casual. One of the things I would criticize them for is the tattered furniture and I feel like there is too much cluttered knick-knacks laying around. The decoration is not cohesive at all. I feel like the whole dining area could use a renovation or more love. The use of duct-tape looks super unappealing but I will not judge harshly as these may be only temporary. I really hope they design this place better in the future. Nonetheless, I understand that this is a local business and times may not always be the best in terms of financials. I found the service to be super friendly! I really appreciated the welcoming attitude and genuine smiles I received. It's appreciated! The select foods I personally ordered, apart from my friends, were good. Takoyaki: I found this appetizer to be very tasty -- as the name of the store implies -- and delicious. I really liked the presentation, it looked incredibly yummy. It was simple but I would definitely order this again. Mango Real Fruit Juice with Milk: I found this beverage to be very good. I really liked the mango flavour that they used, I'm quite sure they used real mango juice not from powder (which is expected from the name of the beverage). I really think it made a major difference and it was quite satisfying to drink.

The Hainan Chicken Rice was super comforting. The chicken was soft and juicy, not dry at all, and the rice had so much flavor on its own you could eat it plain. Once you add the sauces, it's game over. Simple dish, but when it's done right like this, it really hits. The congee was exactly what you want from congee. Warm, smooth, and easy to eat, but still flavorful. It's the ultimate comfort food, especially if you're tired or just want something cozy. They were generous with the ingredients too, not just a bowl of plain porridge. I love that they have that Hong Kong style café vibe on the menu. It's that mix of Asian and Western comfort food that just feels nostalgic and homey. Everything tastes like real food made in a real kitchen, not something rushed out. The rice bowls are huge. You actually feel full after, which is rare these days. Good amount of protein, fresh toppings, and everything tastes balanced, not overly salty or oily. The fried chicken was crispy outside, juicy inside, and well seasoned. Not greasy, not dry, just really solid fried chicken that you actually want to keep eating. And the Singapore noodles were packed with flavor. Nice texture, lots of ingredients, and that classic curry seasoning that makes you keep going back for "one more bite" until it's gone. Everything came hot and packed well, portions are generous, and the food just tastes comforting and real. This is the type of place you start craving randomly during the week. Easy 5 stars. Definitely ordering again.

Any OG Edmontonians remember when this place was Taiwan Bubble Tea with the eye soar red booths, dimmed lighting and split sitting areas that didn't go with either scheme? Yeah, well when you walk into HI Tea you don't see any remnants of that decade which I'm glad we've moved on from. They've managed to renovate the space and make it more modern with LIGHT! Nothing like a 2018 cafe without some scattered potted plants for decoration, wooden panels for an accent wall and of course tables and chairs with the same wood to blend it all together. Ah, now Hi tea you've sure got the aesthetics down now! Now to their menu, before Hi Tea became Hi tea it was a split between Taiwan bubble tea and Cheers Cut (that place with the giant flimsy piece of chicken that was half bone and looked nothing like the display out front) Food wasn't great, and it was more of a novelty visit more than anything. Fast Forward to today, food wise nothing really different or tantalizing, same mix of Taiwanese snacks and bowls and bentos. Bubble tea prices start from $4.80 for an artificial flavor all the way to $7.50 for milkshakes and milk caps. More epensive than coco's but -OKAY HI TEA. We got the Toufu Mik Tea - ($6.xx) - Bae liked this a lot, One of their specialty drinks that wasn't on their main menu but a seperate picture poster, pretty unique! Super Fruit Iced Tea ($6.99) - I paid 7 dollars for a cup for 70% sliced fruit, lol. I mean it was good, but like $7. This was my bad. It was on a poster and looked super pretty. Competition especially around this area will probably be the reason why I wouldn't revisit. Not a bad place to go if you're in to try for something different though.

Not only do they have a makeshift 'grill' to keep the food warm on your table to activate the desired spice level on the succulent kebabs (i had the lamb and spicy shrimp), but the waitress was also knowledgeable enough to recommend the exact spicy beef noodles and garlic grilled oysters! The Oysters were so big and juicy with the lemon garlic juice that they were marinading in post-grilling, I had to take a pic using my chopsticks for perspective (see pic). Server and ambience were unrealistically on point! So unrealistic that I almost took off my 3D glasses after leaving this restaurant! Highly recommended! Just do it! If you don't believe me just go there and if you disagree with ANYTHING ive posted, just comment on this post with pics of what you ordered. Merry Christmas in advance (that's what you'll feel like after you've devoured the grilled oysters)

We came during opening week so even arriving in the evening close to 10pm, the space was packed. Not much to the decor. Very simple with a blue and white color scheme. Sufficient seating and staff were nice and friendly. No wait time to order, dessert came out quickly while our snack trailed along 10 minutes after. (so worth it) Pearl Milk Tea Creamy Frappe - ($9.90) - 5/5 - Part of their shaved ice series. Tasted like frozen milk tea shaved into a beautiful ribbon consistency, topped with tapioca and litchi jelly. This was SO good, really creamy, really rich, tasted exactly like milk tea. The tapioca pearls used are the smaller ones but they were nice and chewy while complimenting well with the litchi jelly that had a sweeter taste. Part of their opening promotion I'm assuming- the shaved ice was given a complimentary small milk tea. Tasted good - nothing like iced milk tea to wash down shaved milk tea. Salty Crispy Chicken - ($6.20) - 5/5 - Okay, so we know my favorite Taiwanese chicken so far in the city has been ChaTime. But I think i've got to update my new favorite to now ZenQ. The seasoning here is more salty than sweet, and the chicken coming to me hot and fresh was beautiful colorwise and exceedingly crisp. This was truly satisfying.
