Made this our last stop on a crawl and was not impressed. A varied selection of brews, so you're likely to find something you'll enjoy. My thoughts are not to rate the beer, rather the rest of our experience. There is little to enjoy with the atmosphere. Indoor seating, outdoor seating, bar height etc. were all not nearly as accommodating as other local breweries. They've clearly spent some money on the new place, yet failed to match the competition. Food selection was weak. One person in our party was not a beer fan, preferring wine as her drink of choice. When asked, the bartender replied they were a brewery, they make beer not wine. No suggestion as to alternate drink was made. Other breweries we visited that day had wine available. We understood they were a brewery, but to shut down a customer like that was not friendly. Be aware they are not a family friendly environment. After our first visit, we'd prefer other locations and will likely not be returning. read more

We hosted my sisters 30th birthday at Flying Bison last night. They gave us plenty of space (reserved tables for us), let us bring in our own food, and we're very helpful throughout the night. And obviously the beer selection was fantastic! Can't wait to go back to hang out there again! read more

Great place for beer, excellent staff, love the atmosphere. My favorite beer is flying bison beer is black bird stout.

I've perused the negative reviews on all sites and have come to two conclusions: 1) You don't know/like craft beer 2) You have no sense of humor. Like, none Been to FB about 5 times at this point and can't wait for my next trip. Like any brewery, there are styles that you won't like. That's craft beer. However, if you are a craft beer fan and can't find something that pleases your palette here, you should probably give up on your experiment to start liking more beer than Labatt and Molson. If your argument for not liking Flying Bison starts with "Well, Sam Adams....", you are not a craft beer fan. Come here, get a sampler, find something you like, and lighten up. This is a cool environment with great people and awesome beer. read more

The hours are weird. The bar is tall. The space is large. Overall, an enjoyable experience. The drink menu is (obviously) limited. But the beer is made right behind the bar, so the quality makes up for the quantity. You can tell the space was well thought up. There's a great outdoor area. Indoors, there's a lot of places to put down your glass. A few tables throughout, but not so many you can't get around them. I'd be up for another visit if anyone wants to come with! read more

Flying Bison Brewing is a great place to go with friends. There is a shelf of games so you can grab a beer, grab a game, take a seat, and play! Also, you can bring in your own food because they don't have too many choices. The beer menu is huge. I'm not a fan of craft beers so I go for the atmosphere. My only complaint is that they close early in the evening. Last call was at 8pm so you pretty much eat dinner before you go, get to the bar, and get one beer before they close. read more

Visited for a holiday party and had a blast. We brought in our own food and took over several tables. A very welcoming event space, with plenty of room for several different groups at once...there were at least three there tonight. Fantastic staff and great beer (I went with the Red's Heaven Imperial Red Ale)...not my favorite brewery in the city, but never disappointing! Flying Bison went out of their way to provide our group with a tour (more of a discussion, but just as informative). My biggest complaint is their parking lot. Its great that they've got one, but it is always full! Last call is also pretty early (8 pm). Looking forward to my next stop-in! read more

Went to check out the new location during my lunch break, and have to say it looks pretty sweet so far. It's big open, with a few plastic picnic bench tables setup up. The bar is a nice high long tasting bar. They're still finishing up some of the work in there but altogether its a pretty nice setup compared to the old place. For now they can only pour 4oz samples for a $1.50, but from talking with the owner Tim Herzog, with the new law recently signed, they will be able to sell beer at any ounce serving. For today they had the usual beers they bottle on tap but also a delicious Simcoe Session Wheat beer that was super hoppy and tasty, along with their Ballpark Belgian Ale, they brew for serving at Bison's Games. The Session beer is definitely worth stopping at the brewery for. I just might have to come back with a growler myself, which is a lot easier with how much closer this new location is. Flying Bison Brewery's new space in Larkinville is in full swing! Not much to say besides stop in during retail hours to try some great local craft beers! A flight of four 4 oz. samples is $5 which is an awesome price in my book. One word of advice is to sample something besides the Rusty Chain brew since you can easily find that in all the local bars and restaurants. Instead I personally recommend the Blackbird Stout which was my favorite beer of the night but it all depends on your personal taste of course. They offer tours of their facility at 6 PM on Fridays and 1 and 4 PM on Saturdays. Also, don't leave without trying some of their homemade root beer which was awesome. Another great thing about this place is that they have their own private parking lot which is an awesome plus for any establishment in the city. read more

I like the beers here. Very large outdoor area and a nice sized indoor seating. They do beer flights and make their own lemonade which is pretty tasty! We held a profesional meeting here and it went pretty good. I helped arrange the seating when I came in. It is really an impossibility to show a powerpoint in the venue during the day, even though the gentleman said it was going to be okay. There was no screen (I certainly would have rented one if I had known), so pictures had to taken down from the wall to make a wall a screen, There is a back door for the caterer to come in which is good. The staff was wonderful- Paul who helped with the arrangement, and Colin who did the tours, and the bartenders- all knowledgeable and personable. The beer was awesome! read more

I was at the Brewery with a few of my friends. I wasn't drinking that day, so I asked at the bar for a glass of water. The owner of the brewery leaned in a said "sweetheart, all the water here is used for brewing". I first thought he was joking, because I couldn't imagine a place where there's no water or an owner who would treat a potential customer in such a patronizing way. There wasn't even bottles of water, which I would have gladly purchased so that I could have something to drink. The only non alcoholic option available was root beer, which I did not purchase. Spending the day in Buffalo and stopped into one of the few breweries in the city I haven't previously visited, Flying Bison. 12 beers on tap, some aviation inspired like my delicious Aviator Red. I was meeting a friend for an event in Larkinville and decided to try this brewery as something new. It wasn't the most social place and felt very sterile and like a meeting hall. My friend and I each tried a flight and the bartenders were very friendly. The beers are good but I've had different kinds of flying bison beers before so it was what I had expected. I guess I was hoping for a more fun, lively atmosphere but it just wasn't that. This might be what they were going for, to make the tap room more of just a spot for people to try a beer and buy a growler but it wasn't what I was looking for. I'm still going to continue trying flying bison beers but I don't think I'll feel the need to go back to their tap room. read more

Just as much of a great experience as it was at the previous location. Quick tip, this is a BREWERY. With brewery style accommodations. Come here for great beer and fantastic company (the guys behind the bar are hilarious). I like knowing that everyone in the building has a love and knowledge of the beer being served. Although the beer is good, after the crowd left for some murder mystery bus tour, my wife and I were enjoying the last of the sun for the day on the deserted outdoor patio with literally a sip of beer left in our nice pint glasses when a female server, maybe 25 years old, comes onto the patio and very rudely stated, "no glass on the patio." I said what? And she again in a really bad tone repeated those same words and we stood up and left. Why would someone who works in this business be so rude? We were minding our own business enjoying a beer on our way to see Roger Waters and this woman had to wield the no glass rule at us? That was our third and now last stop at Flying Bison. Flying Bison knows how to brew great traditional style beers. They are also the best brewery in town when it comes to purchasing kegs for a home kegerator. They have a great variety of their beer in sixtels and the price at $55 a sixtel is excellent. flying bison also knows how to treat customers. Every time I switch out kegs they offer me tastes of any beer I may be considering for my next keg and could not be anymore polite or helpful. My husband and stopped in last Saturday to take the tour at 4pm. There was a charity event going on so there were food trucks, a jazz band and church ladies selling raffles. I agree with a previous Yelper that it is not the most inviting place inside, picnic tables were the only seating option. The person giving the tour, I believe his name was Jim, was incredibly knowledgeable and you could tell that he is proud of the beer that is made there. My husband and I are fans of the "716 Krolsch" and he was able to sample a few other beers. I have to say though, I have been to many breweries in NY and Vermont and usually you get one free sample.?? $5.00 for a flight is very reasonable but I took the time to take a tour of your facility, you got me in the door - throw me a bone and give me a sample. I was the DD so my husband was the sampler that day. He said everything he had was really good and we later bought a 6 pack of one of the beers at Wegs. A lot of people were coming in to fill growlers. If it wasn't for a person selling kettle corn and birch beer in the parking lot, I don't know what other non alcoholic options there would be. read more
