Spanning 98 rooms, the sprawling Gothic Revival estate comes complete with secret tunnels, an oven supposedly large enough to roast a whole cow, and an impressive collection of empty promises.  Sir Henry went vastly over budget to build a designated "Windsor Room" to host visiting royals, who repaid his hospitality by never actually turning up.   Somewhat sadly, the Canadian government took over Sir Henry's electric company without fair compensation, forcing poor Sir Henry out and leaving the city of Toronto to seize Casa Loma for unpaid taxes in 1924... The Happy Ending is that this all led to Casa Loma being a fun castle tourist attraction, like B or C level castle in Europe. Extra fun when I visited as they some Downtown Abbey costumes on display throughout all the luxurious rooms. Escape rooms, tunnels, towers, and a little museum made this all so fascinating. Its pricy, but entertaining, but get CityPass to save a bit of money.

The walking pace was moderate, and the guide's voice (using a portable speaker) was audible throughout the tour. We learned about Toronto's history, geography, name, culture, and diversity. Chloee made herself available to answer questions one-on-one and also in the whole-group context. She included some suggestions for follow-up activities, including a visit to Graffiti Alley. We visited that site the same day and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Starting with some street art, to architecture of buildings in and around downtown, we made made our way to the harbor front. Nice easy pace with greats and conversation along the way. The city is so beautiful and accessible anyway, but this bike tour was 1st rate! Would do it again in a heartbeat When the tour ended, Nathan gave us a map of everything we toured along with recommendations for local restaurants and shopping. She provided everyone with multiple water bottles and made sure to take frequent breaks at sites of interest. Her instructions were easy to follow with regards to bike safety and she was able to keep our group of 6 (4 in our team plus another pair) together throughout the entire tour with no issues. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone, regardless of their experience level as it can likely accommodate any rider with even just a basic knowledge and familiarity. The tour itself was relaxing, beautiful, and educational. We frequently stopped for historical and contemporary updates on the places we visited while traversing the city and islands. The fact that there are effectively no cars on the island itself really enhanced the experience and made it feel like being out for a serene Sunday bike ride with the family. We really appreciated that at each stop she already had a nice spot picked out to take group photos and helped position and arrange us for optimal configuration and angles. a Graffiti tour downtown? heck yeah I'm in! got to take a 2…read morehour Graffiti tour on the queen west neighborhood, and it was outstanding. our guide went through the different portions of the neighborhood and even had us walk through a good section of the famous graffiti alley. the guide also spoke with great passion about the history of graffiti throughout the last couple of decades, what to look out for, and also showed us a really cool hidden wall where the bricks are deteriorating due to all of the graffiti removal over the decades, the brick is physically missing due to this. really a top notch tour. be sure if you go on one of this tours to give the guide a donation at the end, as this not expected, but it is the right thing to do. a great way to kill a couple of hours downtown! would do it again!

I also appreciated the chance to grab a few souvenirs at the market and get photos taken by Sam. This was a really good value and the best deal I found for a Toronto food tour. I would definitely do an urban tour again!
