I came by for a lunch with a friend of mine. It's not what j expected. It's very open inside and clean which is good. They give you sweet biscuits with apple butter and jams. I ordered the salmon Benedict and I thought it would be smoked salmon but it was more cooked salmon. The meal was just okay. I probably wouldn't rush back. It's very mediocre in my opinion. I was disappointed with my experience at the Flying Biscuit Cafe. I was not familiar with the chain before dining here. It is located in the Wake Forest Crossing shopping center and has plenty of parking available in the parking lot, even though some of the parking spots still have snow banks. This location has been open for several months now so the kinks should have been worked out by now. When I entered, I did like the open feel with the higher ceilings. It had a good amount of seating and was not busy when I arrived. The hostess platform had a sign that said wait to be seated, so that is what I did. It wasn't until another customer came through the door, six minutes later, that I was even acknowledged or seated. It was a bad first impression and too long for a guest to wait. It wasn't that they didn't see me waiting there, either, as I made eye contact with three employees. They just didn't seem to care. I was brought a biscuit with my iced tea, so I thought that was to make up for the issue, but then the biscuit included with my meal was omitted, so apparently not. They did do better at seating other guests more timely so maybe they were spoken to about that. I was not told about the $7 breakfast special available Monday through Friday until 11am, but learned about that from the table next to me. The Flying Biscuit Breakfast is on special during opening hours on weekdays. I went with that special that had two eggs, bacon or sausage, grits, potatoes or fruit, then a biscuit. I chose the potatoes and bacon and had my eggs cooked medium. The biscuit just came with a little bit of the apple cranberry jelly, and no butter was provided. I looked through the condiments on the table and didn't see any. The food came out faster than my six-minute wait at the hostess stand. The potatoes were hot, but the eggs and bacon were not. It wasn't anything special, and without the special, it would have been $14. My tea was $3.69. Service was ok, I was checked on a few times and brought more iced tea. The check was brought out before I was done eating, but then there was a long wait to have it processed. With all the amazing breakfast spots in Wake Forest, this place didn't have the quality service or food, so it isn't a place I'd return. read more

We went for breakfast after a run in Joyner Park. This location was news to me, and what a great find! It's a really bright airy space with plenty of indoor seating plus a patio! We were greeted with a big smile and warm biscuits!! We took a while chatting and perusing the menu, but I always land on the Flying Biscuit Breakfast because it's perfect-- eggs, bacon, and potatoes. (You can get sausage and grits, or other available sides). Our server was patient with our indecisiveness, and then quickly checked in to let us know our food was almost ready! It was delicious!! We were warmly greeted and promptly given a nice booth. Our waters and our biscuits came quickly. I ate mine immediately as I was starving but had I known this was part of my meal I might have asked for it to be brought out with my meal as I prefer to eat it all together. Biscuit was tasty and nice with apple jelly. . Lindsey was our waitress and she was efficient and sweet. We both got the breakfast $7 special. My scrambled eggs were delicious. I loved loved the collards. They were cooked to perfection, not overcooked, and they had just the right amount of heat. I'd like a to go pint of these next time I visit. The only downfall was the chicken sausage. It was tasteless and overcooked. The restaurant itself is bright cheerful and airy. I really liked everything except the chicken sausage patty. The amount of food I received for the $7 price is appropriate. If I had paid regular price for the same amount of food, I would feel I overpaid. read more

We were so excited when we learned The Flying Biscuit cafe was opening in Wake Forest, having gone to the Raleigh location for the last 5 years. I ordered the Wake Up Burger, medium, with the Parmesan truffle fries. The burger showed up on two slices of thick wheat bread rather than the advertised sesame seed bun. There was more bread than burger, and the burger was solidly overcooked and dry. For the kicker - the fries were missing any truffle salt, which has a distinct, delicious flavor. Poorly prepared food, not serving food to menu, and cheaping out on the good stuff. Well, the glow of that excitement for the Wake Forest location has officially vanished. We will not be returning after today's experience. Raleigh, we're coming back! read more

3rd visit. This time on a Sunday morning at 1030. The dining room is teeming with help, very quick to seat and place orders. Madison did a great job, thank you! Coffee bar orders arrive in a few minutes... They could be hotter, but delicious. Warm, fluffy, delicious biscuits arrived while we waited. The trip is worth it for the biscuits alone. 2 of the entrees arrived in about 10 minutes. The 3rd arrived in about 15. The kitchen needs to work a little on their timing. Food temp was uneven... Some things hot, some luke warm. I'll give the team some grace... It was busy and the shop hasn't been open for very long. The egg-stravaganza was tasty. Eggs over easy, crisp potatoes, crispier bacon and sausage. French toast was just OK, too mushy for my taste. Vegan tofu scramble is a hit! A nice stir fry of tofu crumbles, veggies and egg. Great food served quickly by a very pleasant staff. The fact that the place was absolutely filthy cost them 2 stars. The trash can in the mens' restroom overflowed into the hallway in front of the bathroom door- NO EXAGGERATION! I honestly don't understand how this place has such high ratings based on our experience. When we arrived, we were seated at a dirty table and then had to wait before being moved to a clean one. Unfortunately, the experience didn't improve from there. The ceiling fan was blowing so hard that our hair was constantly blowing while we were trying to eat. It was so strong that when we poured sugar into our coffee, the sugar literally blew onto the table next to us. The service was slow to get started, and the food was disappointing across the board. The chicken on the chicken and waffles was extremely dry, chewy, and overcooked. The coffee was weak and tasted more like flavored water than coffee. Even the syrup lacked flavor, which I've never experienced before. The potatoes tasted strange, and when combined with ketchup, there was an almost perfume-like taste that was very off-putting. The only thing we genuinely enjoyed was the biscuit served at the beginning with the apple butter--that was delicious. Unfortunately, everything else fell well below expectations. Overall, this was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've had, and we won't be returning. read more

We usually visit the Chapel Hill branch but, learning Wake Forest had a branch we were happy. Upon entering the staff who greeted us (Janaae) was very welcoming, friendly and smiling. She seated us and told us who our waitress would be. Here's the downfall.. the waitress never came. We made eye contact with two other waitresses (that severed other occupants while we're still waiting). Finally I see Janaae (the staff who sat us) and flagged her down to ask who our waitress was again, she was speechless to see we had not been waited on after more than 15 minutes. She did proceed to take our order and informed us she would speak with the manager. The manager came out, spoke with us apologized, let us know we were seated in a closed section (that other occupants were also seated around also) and told us she would take 15% off our bill. Janaae was our waitress while she waited on her section (that was not near us). All while the closed section we were seated in started to fill up, and they were waited on in a timely manner. Slow service.. waitress (kept disappearing) and kitchen (other tables who came in after us got food 1st) 3 meals came out before the other 2. Waited over 15 mins for them. Those meals missing fries. Told "kitchen forgot to make". Waited another 10 mins for 1.. and maybe 3 to 5 mins for the 2nd order. We were done eating before they arrived. Food was blah! Bacon extremely over cooked. I've gone to the Flying Biscuit many times in the District. Food is always fresh and good. This is our first visit to the WF location. Food still reliably good. Service could have been better. Our appetizer wasn't put in(perhaps forgotten) and food came out before anyone realized we never got our starters. Our server wasn't particularly attentive and I had to ask for more water. We went on a Sunday. Wait wasn't too bad - 20 mins - and once seated, there was very kind and hustling wait staff everywhere. My kid inhaled the chicken appetizer. Huge pieces of well seasoned chicken. We received a biscuit each before our food. They did forget the biscuits that actually went with our order, but when we asked, that was corrected. We were pleased with our food overall. Fries needed a bit more oomph and I will say the biscuits did have a strong flour taste. I don't remember that from other locations but I assume they are still just getting things dialed in. Overall, I recommend. I believe new restaurants always have opening pains and nothing for us at least was so bad that we wouldn't go back. read more

Food was terrible! Food was cold. Got avocado toast and the avocado was rotten and eggs were cold. Food was remade and the avocado was ice cold. Eggs were undercooked and all items were brought separately and then had to wait for the meal. Manager and server didn't know what was included with the meal and never brought it till asked! My wife and I had brunch here after Sunday morning worship. We were told the wait was 45 minutes, but it ended up being over an hour. Our waitress (I wish I could remember her name) was great. She was very attentive and helpful. We were seated near the host station, so it was rather noisy, but not so bad that we couldn't have a conversation. From where I was sitting, I could see the TVs over the bar. One was on the Food Network, another on football recaps, but the third was on some bizarre cooking show that was featuring wild game like beaver. The only reason I know that is because they showed them being not only cooking the beaver, but also hunting and cleaning it. I hunted and cleaned game in my youth, so it didn't bother me, but something like that shouldn't be shown in a restaurant. My wife ordered pancakes and bacon. The pancakes were very good, and the bacon cooked just right. I ordered Smoked Salmon and Eggs Benedict. I was disappointed when I saw the salmon was cubed and cooked. When I think of smoked salmon, I expect the kind you have with bagels. You shouldn't have to cook smoked salmon. The eggs were a bit over-poached for my preference, but still, it was good. The grits that came as my side were very good. I'm usually not a cheesy grits fan, but these have me rethinking that. Overall, the food was good. We will go back, just not when the wait is so long. read more

A nice addition to the wake forest breakfast wars- They serve chicken sausage turkey bacon and nitrate free bacon for the slightly health conscious. For a restaurant that just opened a few months ago, I think they did a great job! You have to give grace for a newly opened restaurant. They are still working out some kinks but overall, it was a great experience. We went on a Sunday after Church (approx 11:30 am). The wait time flows well. Environment was clean and roomy enough for our party of 4. Makayla was a wonderful server, let us know the biscuits were complimentary and asked if we would like any. She kept waters full and visited our table often. The food was delish. Hot, fresh, and fruit cups were delicious. Areas for improvement: Possibly a more mature host staff at front host station, also need some volume and courtesy from host(ess) staff. The biscuits were very hard and bigger than what they are known for across GA and rest of N.C. The pancakes were like BRICKS. This place was genuinely terrible all around. Really had high hopes but everything was a mess. Ordered our drinks and we only got one bc it was made wrong? I finally got the chai latte I ordered and it had a lipstick stain on it . Took years to get a refill. All our food was cold, was brought to the wrong table first too. Couldn't cook eggs right I wanted over med and went from over easy to over cooked hard. Servers look clueless, which I understand they just opened, but is this our first time being a server as well? Second time visiting this location and was not disappointed either time. Both times I ordered the $7 special (2 eggs, grits or potatoes, bacon or sausage, biscuit with apple butter) and it was yummy both times. I will say today the biscuit may have been baked too long or left out because it had a bit of a staleness to it (or maybe overbaked) I loved the grits but my companion felt they were too creamy and too rich. Emme was our server and she was the nicest server I have had in a long time! I first noticed her chatting with 2 customers at the "bar" and I think she said let me get you biscuits to start your day off with - it was so nice! She seemed to really enjoy her job and was extremely personable. She checked on us a few times but she was not overly overbearing either. When I go back I would surely ask to be in her section again. We love Flying Biscuit. Was happy it came to Wake Forest. Ate breakfast today and not impressed with this location. Eggs not cooked right, sausage was not warm. Potatoes were not warm and not 'dusted'. Chai tea could have been hotter when brought to table. Biscuits were good and grits were hot and creamy. Sausage gravy was good. Our server was nice and attentive and checked on us several times. The inside is nice although not as kitschy fun as other location. Overall not the same as the Village location. May try again but won't exactly hold our breath. May just be our coffee and biscuits breakfast place. read more

If you are feeling hungry in Wake Forest, we recommend you NOT go to the flying biscuit café. We opted to sit outside on a beauitful Saturday morning, it still took 10 mins to get our waitress over for our drinks. We ordered biscuits as well, but they didn't come out until our food did .. which sucked, since we sat down very hungry. On top of that; other tables that say after us, were served on first. The food is not the same as their sister location in Brier Creek. Our go to is the stuffed French toast breakfast. At the Wake Forest location it does not come with grits or potatoes and yet is still more expensive than the Brier Creek location. So you pay more for less food, which again, sucks. I had to go inside to talk to the host stand, if they could please find our waitress and ask for buscuit, coffee and water refills, after 20 mins of her coming out to the patio, but never checking on us. The food however, did come out hot and fresh. We were in town for errands and though it would be a nice treat, sad to say it was a very disappointing start to our weekend. If you want Flying Biscuit, I recommend the Brier Creek location. It may be further; but it's a better bang for your buck!! Have a great weekend. read more
