So surprised by the bad reviews - we always have a good experience here. We use the app and order ahead, typically after we go to the gym, and our orders are always correct and waiting for us in the order cubbies. We really like how you can customize the ingredients and see the nutritional info right there. Parking here is a pain, spots are small and the lot is tight quarters so we park by Vitamin Shoppe to make it easier. This is my first visit as I usually frequent "another smoothie place" closer to my office. Today Tropical Smoothie Cafe was closer to my errands route so here I go. I did look up the menu before going in and chose the Chia Banana Boost. It boasts roasted bananas so I'm intrigued - will this affect the taste? Here on a Friday right before lunch rush in a spot with quite a few lunch spots. I fear I'll get lost in the shuffle, but I don't. As I walk in it definitely reminds me of a place you'd find on a drive out to the beach. Not overly themed but pretty tropical pictures and blue lights. I found the service to be just fine and most importantly I did NOT get lost in shuffle. I saw a LOT of to go orders being put up on the counter and I thought for sure mine would get put up there and I'd wait and wait - that didn't happen. They called out my order and off I went. The smoothie itself was good. It tasted homemade, which was mostly good. My husband and children used to love Tropical Smoothie until we moved closer to the WF location. They like to have dinner here when I work nights, and my husband felt like the options were healthier than drive-thru. Win win. We have had consistently low-quality food from this location the last two years, incorrect orders - and I never left a bad review until now because I get it! It's hard to keep and train good employees in Covid times. But the mistake tonight was horrific and the final straw. My son ordered the peanut butter banana wrap, my husband ordered a Buffalo chicken wrap. It was obvious they started my son's, left it open, started my husband's, but mistakenly sprinkled Texas Pete on my son's peanut butter wrap. Rather than make a new wrap, they clearly said, "eh, wasn't *THAT* much hot sauce," added the bananas and rolled it up. i don't typically like leaving bad reviews because things happen but my smoothies weren't blended and i had to ask them to remake it. when the blender got stuck instead of adding either water or the juice from the fruit to loosen it, they instead continued to blend it and gave me an unblended smoothie. i used to work at tropical so i know what to do to make sure customer service is met. on top of that, i ordered a HOT wrap (the american) and it came cold, not warmed, cheese was still whole and nothing was cooked. i used to love this tropical but i think it's time to move on :/ read more

I ordered Thai chicken salad and they first gave me Thai chicken wrap and the cashier insisted saying I told her I wanted wrap. I said super clearly I want salad. I waited for about 5+ minutes at the register to order as the workers joked with each other and basically ignored me. I ordered a strawberry, banana, pineapple smoothie and was so looking forward to it as I have been dieting and am careful where I use my calories. How disappointing. It was VERY bland. I've been to this location several times due to it's proximity to where I live but am constantly disappointed by the service and time it takes to get my order. This time we waited for two food items and it took 30 minutes to get our food, only to have it cold in the middle. My friend and I who ordered both work in food service and to be honest it would have been faster if we just got behind that counter and made the damn food ourselves. Our smoothies are usually good but it's ridiculous to see the workers talking and doing nothing and then to be told that we had to wait because there were so many online orders when you can clearly see that's not the case. This place would be good if there was just an ounce of work ethic but unfortunately even with a microscope I don't think I could find any. read more

The smoothies are amazing and fresh, but that is about all that I have to say that is positive. There are a few things that need to change. 1) There were only four people in the cafe, but if felt packed since everybody has to order in the middle of the room. 2) There were four people working and each had a different job. Unfortunately, the lady in front of me had four children with her and was making things up that were not on the menu. Kudos for the staff for not flinching about this but someone should have stepped up and opened another register. She took over 15 minutes to order. 3) There is simply no where to wait that you do not feel in the way do to the layout of the cafe. I love Tropical Smoothie, and I usually go to this location. I ordered online around 1:30pm and placed an order to be picked up at 3:20pm. When I got there there were only 2 employees working which I felt terrible for both of them. But both employees were moving slow. I got there around 3:25 to pick up my order and there were already 10 people in there waiting. I got my food around 3:40 which was fine, but 4:00 came and I still hadn't gotten my smoothie. I was on a lunch break and couldn't wait any longer so I had to leave without my smoothie that I paid for. The food was great but there needs to be more employees in there. read more

Absolutely horrible service, staff ignores customers. They will go out of their way to place drinks in the " box" when you ordered it with them and your the only one there. I've come to tropical smoothie a few times for lunch as it tends to be quick and you can't go wrong with a fruit smoothie (especially in the summer months or when you're not feeling well). I was really in the mood for a fruit smoothie and their caesar wrap; so, we stopped at this new location near our house to grab lunch. I'm not sure if they changed their wrap recipe but it was not very good this time. The tortilla was soggy. The wrap overall had little flavor and there were some kind of soggy (parmesan??) bits throughout the wrap that gave it a really weird texture. I'm thinking they were supposed to be crunchy? I'm not sure but I was not a fan. Also, I got the kale slaw as a side and was really disappointed when I saw the small quantity in the container. It barely even filled the bottom. For the price of the wrap/meal, it should've at least filled the container. The smoothie was really watery and wasn't as flavorful as it has been before. This definitely was not a great experience and I'm hoping it's because they're a newer location and are still finding their groove. read more

A worker named Eric didn't use gloves when he made smoothies, he also touched the food with no gloves, itching himself over the food, scratching his private parts. When we walked in t smelled like something was burnt. No biggie stuff happens. The cashier was nice bubbly and sweet. But as we went to order she listed off things they were out of. One of which was smoothie cups. So you had to take your smoothie in two small cups per order. It was two of us. We will have four cups. I ordered a smoothie and sandwich. She said they don't have the sauce for the sandwich. So i ordered another. The food cane super fast. I am still waiting for my smoothie. It has been over fifteen minutes and there are people before me who still have not gotten there's. The young lady doing good was moving like she wanted to be at work. The young lady on smoothies was dragging her feet, looked angry at the world and was in no rush to do her job even despite the number of people waiting. The girl cooking food eventually took over on smoothies to speed it up and orders are coming out. But there are still a decent amount t of people waiting. I love the tropical smoothie chain and have been to many in North Carolina and this is the worst tropical smoothie I have ever been to.. this tropical smoothie is not far from my house so I still continue to go here but if it continues to stay like this I will not go. I've probably gotten around 25 smoothies since it opened and only around 5 or 6 have been good, not even great. I alternate between 2 different bowls, the Baja chicken and the Caribbean jerk chicken bowl - and it honestly just depends on the people working. Sometimes it's good, other times it's just frantically put together and given to me. The first couple times I went to this tropical smoothie I knew there was something off, the atmosphere isn't great, the employees don't know what they're doing and the service is terrible - but I decided to keep going. The past 2 experiences I've had with this place have been awful. Last friday Me and my mom decided to grab a smoothie and a bowl (she got a wrap) around 5ish. I've never seen such untrained employees in my life. The lady at the cash register even admitted she didn't know how to work the register, nor did anyone else working. She proceeded to tell us that they (tropical smoothie management) just leave them here without training and I was in awe when she told me this. She couldn't find the club in the register my mom wanted, even though it was the first thing you saw on the menu, she got my moms smoothie totally wrong that she had to order another one and even charged her extra because she didn't make it a combo. We then sat there for 30 minutes watching people who had already ordered or were waiting in like just walk out. It was absolutely terrible- and I don't blame the employees working, I blame the management for having 4 untrained employees all working at once: on a Friday night. Today me and my sister wanted to grab a fast dinner so we went to tropical smoothie. I ordered a bowl and smoothie and she ordered a flatbread. It was busy, but nothing too hectic. My sister got her smoothie, one she has had serval times before, and she told me it was still solid and absolutely awful, but she wanted to get out quick so didn't say anything. We then got our food. 10 mins passes by and we have everything but my smoothie, so my sister decides to go sit in the car. 20 MINUTES go by, and I still don't have my smoothie, but I see people who ordered way after me are getting theirs, so I decided to go upfront and stand in line with the receipt because no one else was ordering. I probably stood there for 5 mins with them completely ignoring me even though they knew I had been there for a while. I watched as the two girls working played with their hair, we're having side conversations, and giving a customer endless smoothie samples for him to try, while I still stood there waiting. It had been 30 minutes now and I still hadn't got one smoothie. Finally, I somehow managed to get their attention and they made my smoothie and I left. We got there at 6:00 and left around 6:35. I wasn't even happy with my smoothie or my bowl - and my sister wasn't either. I am not a fan of the staff here at all, and if new staff or more trained staff were to work here, I would probably enjoy coming to this tropical smoothie a lot more. read more

I ordered food at about 1:00 PM and 32 minutes later got my food at curbside pickup after calling two times saying that I was outside. When they came out one smoothie was melting and the other one had a broken cup. The staff did not have masks on or protective gear that is Covid-19 regulation. The food was soggy and poorly made. I have never had the food here before so I can't judge based on that. Yea they do have food. I have tried just about every smoothie on the menu once, if not twice. The smoothies are great, but service can be hit or miss. Or miss and miss. They seem to have a lot of turnover in the staff because I have seen so many new faces working there in the past year. Sadly it can lead to inconsistencies in way your smoothie is made. Sometimes it is better than other times. The last time I was there I wasn't even greeted for a few minutes because they were busy working on others orders. There was only two employees that I saw. From my experience in customer service, it doesn't take much effort just to greet someone as soon as they walk in the door. Also the person who helped me had his pants almost down to his knees. I don't judge people on the way they are dressed but if they are preparing my food and drinks in an establishment I would prefer to not be able to see their underwear. I absolutely love Tropical Smoothie but this is by far the worst one I have ever been to. In fact the worst restaurant I have ever been to. They are incredibly slow. I have waited 20 minutes for a smoothie when there were only 2 other people in the cafe. The employees stand around laughing and looking at each other expecting the other one to complete the order or take it. They have also messed up my order multiple times where I have had to send it back because I clearly told them no strawberries because I am allergic to them but yet they don't listen every time. This cafe is 2 minutes away from me and I am going to start driving out of my to the cafe on Falls or creedmore. This is ridiculous read more
