Fly-Rides provided shuttles (3 total but we only ended up needing 2) to and from a big party we put together for one of our biggest clients. The buses were beautiful both inside and out. They were at the pick up location on time and the drivers were even there to help us load in our things. Once we arrived at our destination the drivers helped us unload and made sure nobody forgot anything they might need. The bus ride home was just as smooth. The bus had great AC and a good sound system w/ bluetooth. The Fly-Rides team were total professionals throughout the entire process. My main reason for writing this review is that Scott's reference to all his 5 star reviews was a key factor in having us book with him in the first place. We have booked with Fly-Rides 2x over the past 18 months, actually used them once, and didn't have a 5tar experience either time. My main takeaway is that the bus part of the experience was as expected, but I don't trust the owner and won't use them again - I won't go so far as to say dishonest, but we found him very defensive, standoffish, and quick to use our lack of knowledge and situation to his advantage. As others have mentioned, Scott is very responsive, answered all my initial questions, and the online contract was convenient. We had two issues on our first tour - the first being timing - we had our party barge booked from 11am-3pm on a Friday. The location of the marina is 26 miles from our house, with an estimated 45 minute drive on a 'normal' Friday per Google maps. I figured a bus would take a bit longer, and wanted to be sure we stayed within our window, so I suggested 2 hours on either end of the time on the lake to get all 30 of us to and from our location. When I asked Scott about the timing, he suggested adding 30 minutes more to each side (for an extra $100). I figured he was the expert in this area, so agreed. When the driver reached out a couple of days before, he told us that 8:30am was much earlier than we needed to leave to arrive by the marina by 10:30 for our 11am tour. When I confronted Scott about this, he very quickly insisted he runs an honest business, and just wanted to make sure we had plenty of time. We ended up splitting the difference and only adding the extra 30 to the end of our reservation (which we didn't need by the way, we were back a full hour before our allotted time). The driver was prompt and friendly. He confirmed our destination, and drove us safely to the marina without issue. Everyone unloaded, and as we were pulling our coolers off the bus one of our guests asked where the party barge we were getting on was...as I looked around, they were right! There was no where at this marina with any party barges in sight! I went and found the driver, he double checked his address, told me he had been given the wrong address, but that the correct address was just a little ways away. So we all loaded back up on the bus, and arrived to our correct destination shortly thereafter (and also WELL within the time needed). We had a great time on the boat, loaded up relatively quickly afterwards, and had a quick and uneventful trip back. When Scott refunded the 30 minute difference I gave him feedback on the trip - that even with leaving later we had way more than enough time, even with the mixup going to the wrong marina. Instead of apologizing for the mix up in marina locations, he responded that the driver had been driving in Austin for at least a decade and for Fly-Rides for at least 6 years, and had never heard of such a thing happening. Apparently he thought I was making this up? That may be so, but there were 30 people on that bus who can vouch for otherwise! When the same crew wanted to take another trip out to the lake this year, I went right to Scott, and requested a quote for a Friday over 3 months out from my request date. His quote came back 20+% higher than last year's rate, and when I asked him about this, he told me each date is unique and subject to availability. I understand some level of inflation, but 20+% seemed high, especially given gas prices are much lower now than they were last year. We landed on the same price as last year (only for 7.5 hours this year vs the 9 overbooked for last year). I was aware up front of the cancellation policy - up to 50% refund after booking. However, a month before our trip, we ended up with almost half our crew no longer able to attend, and found it would have cost us more to go than to cancel. The boat company was great - we have up to a year to apply our deposit to any available boat or water craft. Scott, not so much. First of all, when I initially reached out to him asking about flexibility in changing our date, he responded (very quickly) with a response that made no sense whatsoever about the weather, and me putting him in a bad position cancelling less than 48 hours before the start time. It was a month out!!! I corrected him, and he apologized, and allowed us to reschedule (without charge) for a later date that worked for some (but not all). We agreed on a smaller bus, which he told me goes for $200 less than the original bus. But when I asked for the $200 refund, he told me "he didn't realize" it was 4th of July week originally, so the price for that day was higher (his discretion of course). He already had our money, so nothing I could really do at that point. In the end we cancelled with more than 2 weeks notice and lost 50% of the big bus price. Very expensive lesson learned. I hope others reading this don't make the same mistake and shop around. read more

The owner of this company is extremely unprofessional. We used this bus to take us to a birthday party. One of our friends noticed a crack in the window when we initially got on the bus, and the crack grew when he leaned on the window. Unfortunately, the owner blew up our phones with threats that he is going to charge $300 for the damage even thought the crack was there when we arrived. Please take photos of the bus before you get on. He refused to negotiate and was essentially bullying us into paying for damage that was there when we got there. I do not recommend this company. Fly-Rides was awesome! It all started when I was trying to find transportation arrangements for about 30 people for a corporate event. This is for the sales team, who likes to have fun and I needed to get them from one part of an event to the next, for a team building event. I found this company online and when I called, I got the pleasure of talking with the owner directly (Scott.) They are significantly cheaper than the average corporate bus transportation, way more fun, and have great customer service! Scott spent a good chunk of time with me, answering my questions, and telling me about this business that he is so excited about! His passion really conveys through the phone! I was excited to support a local business, with an owner who is so passionate about providing a fun alternative to stuffy limo-buses. Next, I met Tracy, in the creatively-painted bus! Love the vibe! He took such great care of us!! So fun, really kind, and super patient with us! He was early to pick us up and available when we needed him. He offered to let me control the music, but I opted to let him play the DJ, because I didn't want to have to think about any more details! He has GREAT taste and everyone loved it. Highly communicative team, awesome service, and a great deal. Fly-Rides was so accommodating for our 40-person bus ride to and from Lake Travis. Carlos, our driver, was especially helpful and assisted in loading and unloading our items, communicating with me about timing, and just being so amazingly accommodating in every way. Now I put 5 stars in the review BUT I do have some caveats. The bus doesn't actually seat the number of people it says. They had a strict head count policy which is totally understandable, so we had exactly 40 people on the bus. But even though we had mostly smaller girls on the bus ride, at least 5 people had to stand each way. Also, we rented the bus in July, and either the ac wasn't on or it's weak bc it was HOT. They had little side fans on and the windows down --and it was even cloudy and cooler that day for a summer day in Austin --but brace yourselves for a hot drive if you intend to use them in the summer. Takeaways: an absolutely great company to work with, so communicative, reasonably priced, and as accommodating as they can be, but I wouldn't follow their head count and instead invite 5-10 people less on the bus than is advertised, and I wouldn't suggest renting the specific bus we were on for a typical sweltering hot Austin summer day. Let me just start by saying that this company "rescued" me several times throughout our entire process. Initially I came to them after having an extremely unpleasant experience with another careless company in the area. They not only were SO friendly, but went so far as to ask about my personal situation with the other company so that THEY could try to make right of it, even though that was in no way their responsibility. I felt great about our transaction and was looking forward to the actual event. Fast forward to the event - I found it odd that I hadn't received confirmation before the day of the party. I called (an hour before our supposed pick up time) and I had accidentally booked the wrong day (completely on me). Instead of taking an easy way out they jumped off of the phone, called around to some employees who should have been off and found someone to go out of their way to get a bus to us in a magical amount of time. I never sensed any annoyance or frustration on their end, and they pulled off a full-on, last-minute reschedule for our ride. Some details had to be tweaked and there was some compromising to be done, but it was handled so pleasantly and professionally that I was crying tears of joy after hanging up the phone. Finally, as if this wasn't enough to love this company, our driver, Carlos, was an absolute gem and was so patient with us. THANK YOU, to this company!! Enjoyed the ride from the Domain to Lake Travis on a 60 person "CandyCane" bus. I had about 57 people on it and We had a great time on the bus (and of course on the barge out on the lake) with booze and music. In order to fit 60 people (57 in our case), some of us did have to stand in the middle aisle all the way back to front of the bus but there were ropes to hang on to and was pretty good for the 40 min ride. Friendly and knowledgable staff and they are family owned and operated by Scott who does the booking. The good: you honestly can't beat their price. Bus fits about 40 people and the price is solid. Speakers work well, which is useful in a party bus. It was pretty easy to arrange the date and pick up spot. Spoke with Scott Good, the owner, and he was very responsive. Driver(s) (used them more than ones) were friendly and by the end of the night felt like part of the party. :) The bad: they don't provide a cooler on the bus, other buses I used usually provided one. Owner did mention that he used to have a cooler on the bus but partygoers kept breaking it so he decided not to have one overall. Which makes sense as a business owner but just sucks as a bus renter. I really wanted to like this company, I really really did, but the lack of professionalism on the part of the owner was just astounding. I have never encountered a more unprofessional "business". I contacted Scott a few months before our event to set up a ride to and from an event on Lake Travis. He matched a price that a competitor was offering, and I was ecstatic and quickly agreed to the booking. I asked about a deposit, and he fumbled around on what it should be. He asked me what other companies typically do, I said usually 1/2 to a 1/4 of the total booking cost. (Why am I, the customer dictating the policies for his company?) I paid the finally agreed upon deposit but at no point did I ever receive a contract outlining the terms of our agreement, cancellation policies, etc. I received a voicemail two days before the event asking if I would be willing to move our drop off time up an hour, and confused I decided to give him a call. He explained to me that he had another group he was trying to book from 7 pm to 11 pm (even though we were already booked from 5 pm to 10:30 pm) and that if I would be willing to move my times around he thinks he could book both of us in the same night. I politely declined his offer, much to his chagrin that he could not now double his money for one nights work. Our event was on a boat and because the weather was forecasted to be thunderstorms I inquired about his cancellation policy. Turns out, he didn't have a company cancellation policy and began fumbling about with what to do. He said that if I just canceled now he could give me a credit, I quickly informed him I did not want to do this as if the weather cooperated we would then be without a ride the day of. I asked if we canceled the day of what the policy would be and he began again talking of this other group he wanted to book saying maybe he should just book them instead. As a customer with a booking it's very unprofessional to talk about another booking you would rather do. He continued talking of the other booking and stated that he believed he could actually do both jobs and get us all where we needed to be on time. Concerned, but willing to work with him I stated that as long as he had our group where we needed to be on time it did not matter to me what the bus did while we were out on the boat. He was thrilled he could now double his money, and since I was doing him a favor, he agreed that in the case that I did need to cancel he would in fact be okay with fully refunding me in the event of cancellation. We had finally reached a solution and a deal. The next day I received a text message stating that he had changed his mind and was now going to charge me $100 if I chose to cancel. Confused as to why his policy (not that he actually has one) was changing I let him know I wasn't comfortable with the changes. I received another text message a few hours later - he had taken it upon himself to contact the marina and had discovered that the marina doesn't want buses leaving at all to go pick up another group. This was completely news to me, as our drivers have done it in previous years with no issues. He also insinuates that I am lying to him about the times, because the marina says our reservation is a different time than we had told him. (We weren't lying, he had the times wrong - how professional to tell a customer they don't know the times of their own event). He was irate that I authorized him to book another group that he now has to cancel on - I again was not aware it would be an issue, was still be fine with him leaving the marina (the marina doesn't control him), and only agreed in the first place because he insisted on it. He continued to badger me with text messages, and stated that if I now chose to cancel the day of I would not be receiving any refund at all but only a credit. I said that I didn't find this reasonable, and was frustrated he had now changed his cancellation policy on me THREE times. He told me that he was "not bending anymore" and "this is getting out of hand", and that if I just canceled now I could go find another bus company - very obviously he was wanting to book the other group who was going to pay more instead. Wanting to rid myself of this unprofessional "business" I asked him to fully refund my booking and I would take my business elsewhere that had a more lenient cancellation policy. He continued to argue with me that it was my fault for trying to do something that would damage his business, and that the situation had nothing to do with his cancellation policy (not that he even has one - it's whatever he feels like that day) and it wouldn't have been an issue if "things were done right" and I hadn't put him "in a bad position." Again, it was his idea in the first place. It felt like I was arguing with a pre-teen boy who was throwing a temper tantrum, not a business owner. Take your business elsewhere where the owner won't blame you for his own mistakes. read more
