Years ago, I stumbled upon them on complete accident - funny how life works out. I had a very last-minute trip and needed a ride to the airport. I contemplated Uber but didn't trust their driver availability for an early morning flight. Pat promptly returned my call and I booked our first trip with him. We later found out he does field his own calls so he may not answer the phone if he is driving (which I appreciated when I was in the car). As others have mentioned, Pat is a great conversationalist and a wealth of information. Having grown up in the area, he knows it like the back of his hand. On a more recent airport trip, my SO discovered he forgot something, and Pat offered to make a stop at the store so we could buy it before we departed. This gesture alone demonstrates how above and beyond he is willing to go to make sure you have everything you need. Not only that, but he knew exactly where a store was when we were driving on a random section of Toll road. And there I was in the backseat still trying to pull up my Google Maps. It is his consistent attention to detail that we most appreciate. He texts us the day before pickup so we can sleep well knowing he'll be there tomorrow. He keeps an eye on our flight status and will text if there's any delays. He also keeps an eye on TSA wait times so we know what to expect when we get to the airport. And of course, all his cars are spotless, well-maintained and sanitized between each trip. The short of it is that this is a locally-owned business I am glad to continue to support for years to come. Thanks for your punctuality and professionalism at all the ungodly hours of the morning. See you on our next trip in a few months or so!

We didn't want to leave our car parked at the Austin airport for 2 weeks, and knew we'd be jet-lagged on our return. I feel fortunate to have found A Cheap Ride and Pat Johnson. As it turned out, our first experience with Pat showed exactly how good he is. Our British Airways flight outbound was delayed, but we received little information on our end as to the reason for the delay or how late the flight might be. Coincidentally, Pat was expecting to pick up a passenger on the inbound non-stop from LHR (which was obviously delayed as well). Through Pat, we found out more than we were able to get online from the carrier! We were also delayed on our return flight, but Pat was there waiting in baggage claim for us. His service is simply over the top. We enjoyed conversing with Pat as he drove. Since he's been in the Austin/Round Rock area for many years, he's accumulated a wealth of knowledge about the area, local people, and local businesses. His retention of information and attention to detail are amazing. And while he's a careful and cautious driver, he made excellent time getting us to and from the airport. Pat is very much in touch with his customers, knows his business well, and cares about the quality of service his company provides. He is an excellent communicator, so you can feel confident that he will keep you informed as to when you'll be picked up. And, most importantly in this type of business, he is reliable, punctual, and does exactly what he says he will. I highly recommend A Cheap Ride for an excellent experience.

There was 4 of us so someone had to sit in the way back, but no one helped us figure out how to get the seat down, so we got it down a little and had to climb over (the seat folds all the way up so you can get in and not have to climb over). Then when we got back from our trip it was the same ordeal. Except the driver was not patient at all when we were waiting on our luggage.I said we would meet him in a second and instead he said he was waiting and called me. Also, the driver was late, which wasn't a big deal to me till he became impatient and did not deliver the service I was told I would be getting. A lot time between drivers for people to take longer than expected. He was suppose to have a sign with our name on it, but no he was standing there with his phone, no indication of who he was getting or that he was our driver. Then, again, we had to climb thru to the back and the driver didn't even put the seat down so we could get back there, or up for the rest of the passengers to sit down in the front row of the back. He didn't know how to get to the place we were going, and we had to tell him how to get there. You give the destination ahead of time, so they should be able to figure out directions. We were gone a week, there is no reason I should have to tell him how to get there. Then he put up 2 feet on the driveway, half the car was still in the street and unloaded our stuff. One person was nice enough to tip him even though tip is already included in your price, and even though he did not deserve it. Then he texted me about the tip once we got inside, but meant to send it to someone else. So he then CALL ME AGAIN and informed me the text was about someone else not us, well clearly not. I will never use this company again. They are the worst service I have ever used. I am traveling again just 2 days after returning, and am using a completely different company that guarantees that what I am told I will receive I will. There are quite a few other services in Austin to use, may be a tad more expensive ($10) but way worth it. There is also a highly ranked service that is all 5 star reviews that is less expensive and goes above and beyond. Definitely not worth the money I had to pay. I would have been better off driving myself or using a taxi or super shuttle.

Not exactly what I wanted to see at such a moment. As it turned out later, technically, the error was in our order, but it would be nice if this detail was spelled out more clearly. After the appeal, the situation was quickly corrected, and by the next stage of the incident we were waiting for a much more comfortable transport solution. This made a positive impression, especially considering that there was a reaction and a desire to correct the situation. The drivers were professional, the organization on the routes - without significant failures. There are things that can be improved in terms of communication and transparency in the choice of transport, but in general the experience remains rather positive.

As the Father of the Bride I was shocked when the bus that showed up to bring our guests to the church was a school bus. After the ceremony I called Abdul to address my concern. After speaking to him it became clear that in reality the mistake was ours, not his. We had chartered a "transit" bus, which when you look on the website is a school bus. I wish the contract was more specific; as "school bus" certainly would have jumped out. But live and learn. Now to the good part. With my frustration high, Abdul was calm, cool and reasonable. He immediately realized I was not happy and kicked into high gear to see what he could do. While we had to take the school bus back to the hotel, by the time we left for the reception...less than one hour later...a gleaming full scale motor coach was sitting in front of the hotel instead of a school bus. Wow! I can't thank Abdul enough for stepping up. I was thoroughly impressed. When it comes to satisfying customers in a crisis, Austin Charter Services proves that it can still be done the old fashion way...do whatever you can to make your customer happy.
