They use a few too many of those disgusting hanging air fresheners. You can only wonder what it covers up. The next thing I noticed was Rush Limbaugh blaring on the radio. I am not a fan. I asked the driver to turn it off. His reply was -- "For the whole trip?" "Yes, the whole trip," I replied. The driver then decided to take a route that was way out of the way. I told him there is a faster route. He then asked if I would prefer to have another driver. I agreed, and he took me back home. I will never, ever use this company. Call QT at 512.964-1141. This guy is a professional. The cab isn't great, but he is pleasant and courteous.

There is only one word that can sum up this service: UGH!…read more While I am not exactly expecting Nordstrom's quality service from cabbies, there is still a basic code of manners and common sense that everyone should follow. From the beginning, the "gentleman" on the phone was very brisk, rude, and gave me the feeling that I was irritating him simply by calling. Not exactly a shining first impression. But.... again I am calling a cab, not a limo, so I let it fly. They informed me that my cab would arrive in 15 minutes behind my home (that's where our garages are in my neighborhood)--alright, cool beans. No more than 5 minutes later, my dogs are going berserk downstairs. Once they stop howling, I am able to hear the BLARING horn in FRONT of my house. Not a little "beep-beep" mind you, but the very same horn I give teeny boppers on their cell phone who cut me off in daddy's Lexus. Not only was this RUDE, but it was extremely embarrassing! I am new to the neighborhood, and having a crummy cab blaring his horn at me like some football jock from a bad 80's movie was SLIGHTLY noticeable in my quaint, quiet neighborhood. I motion for him to cut the horn, then have 10 minutes less than what I expected to throw on my clothes and head out the door. Two minutes later when I emerge, I had to help myself and my bags in the cab, while the driver was content to keep his butt planted on his seat. Again, I am not expecting limo service, but opening doors--for men or women--is just good manners! As if that debacle wasn't irritating enough, he then makes a "subtle" comment about how I kept him waiting. Oh please. I don't mind someone being early, but don't complain about waiting if you are! After a very tense ride to my destination in a poorly maintained cab, I am then informed that he will not take my card--he will only take cash. When I explained to him that this was NOT explained to me on the phone, he told me in a VERY patronizing tone that all cabs only take cash. Alright... 1) Is this 1973?!?! I have ALWAYS been able to use cards with cabbies (with exception to traveling abroad); if not in the car, then certainly online or over the phone. Not sure about other Yelpers, but I certainly do not find myself carrying cash very often! 2) Note to office: When being asked, "Is there anything else you need?" on the phone, that MIGHT be a good time to mention: "HAY. CASH ONLY." ......Just saying. Fortunately for him, there were other people nearby and I tend to have a sense of class. Having to deal with all that for such a short drive, I had half a mind to tell him to piss off. Of course... I like to give most places a second chance. Or perhaps its only when I call a cab, I'm desperate. Either way, I recently called them again to bring me home from work since I fell too ill to operate my own vehicle. Again I received an estimated arrival time of 15 minutes (note, this is a location they have been to at least once before). Almost 40 minutes later, I give up, crawl half-alive into my car and take the 10 minute drive myself at a very slow pace. I may have been miserable, but at least they don't have my money! :D

He picked me up in Llano and drove me about 40 minutes to Marble Falls where I had a U-Haul truck waiting, pointing out cool landmarks and places of interest along the way. We arrived at my destination in Marble Falls, only for me to discover that my U-Haul reservation had fallen through. I made some calls to find another option nearby, and Eugene was kind enough to wait around and stay in the area just in case I needed to go somewhere else. Sure enough, I needed another ride, and he was kind enough to provide it at no extra cost. Eugene is a great guy and the only person you should call for a ride when you're in the area - he will save your bacon like he saved mine!

He offered us bottled water, our choice of music and temperature control, and was lovely to talk to. His fee was by far the best of the services I had called. We had two carseats for the ride which he very generously dropped back off at our house, and had the consideration to wrap them in plastic bags so they wouldn't get damaged. We had more people on a different airport ride, so he arranged another lovely driver with a van for us. I can't recommend him highly enough! Thank you, Gene!

Just in case anyone's seeing this: Yellow Cab has been entirely out of business for several years…read morenow. A company called zTrip took over their phone number, but they're not a taxi company; they mainly offer pre-arranged airport trips, and as you can see from some of the comments below, zTrip's services are lackluster to nonexistent. I've reported it as closed, but I don't know how long that'll take to process. Also, just FYI, Austin no longer has ANY traditional taxi companies. The lone option besides Uber & Lyft is Austin Co-op Taxi: while it's a good thing in that it's actually owned by its drivers - and both taxi & rideshare drivers are oftentimes screwed otherwise - nearly all of the cars used for it are old beaters that wouldn't even be *allowed* for use by the rideshare companies. They're also not necessarily easy to discern: unlike traditional taxis, they don't have any "trade dress" - meaning all the standardized lettering on the outside of the vehicle listing its rates, permit number, etc. - and may have no indicators of any sort that they're taxis aside from a removable magnetic sign placed on the side.

I had 3 hours until the shop would close, so plenty of time (I thought). The Lyft app on my cell phone was not working just then, so I called the phone number (512-452-9999) of the former Yellow Cab - now an automated service called zTrip - to arrange for the ride. I had used zTrip successfully once in 2024. The automated booking worked well. It recognized my phone number and greeted me by name. After a series of simple voice questions (do you want immediate pickup (YES), at your residence (YES), cash or credit (CASH), anything to tell the driver (CALL WHEN YOU ARRIVE)), it confirmed my booking. 45 minutes later I called again for an update. The automated system recognized that I was waiting, but said that no driver had yet been assigned and it would inform dispatch that I had inquired. After a further wait, I called back again: same story, no driver yet assigned, will inform dispatch. This time I made enough noise that the auto system transferred me to dispatch. The dispatcher asked for my destination (the auto system had not asked for it) and said he would try to get a driver. After a further wait, I had become alarmed about having enough time to complete picking up my car before the car shop would close. I called back in and shouted at the auto system for a human being. I was connected to a different dispatch operator. I told the operator that if they did not have a pickup at my house within 15 minutes it would be pointless and I would cancel. 15 minutes later: No pickup. I called back in: No driver has yet been assigned! I shouted at the system to CANCEL and was put on hold in order to talk to a human to cancel! It was now too late to get to the car shop even if a driver had shown up at that very instant. zTrip had THREE HOURS to find a driver and had not the decency to update me. I will NEVER use zTrip again. I fixed the Lyft app on my cell phone.

The Case of the No Show Cab…read more My friends and I were attending a wedding outside of Austin. I knew that Uber had already left and there was a hodgepodge of rideshare services that rose from Uber's ashes. After some phone calls we decided, "Hey 2 Star Yelp business a chance, what's the worst that can happen?". We reserved 3 vans to be picked up at midnight at the wedding venue. Lo and behold, midnight strikes and I had a Cinderella at the ball moment. I went from feeling like the belle to a puddle of sadness, because at this point of the night I was so exhausted that I had no energy to think. After playing phone tag for 30 minutes, a van finally arrives as we were basking in the moonbeam and start lit night. Women and children went first because chivalry isn't dead. We were told that the other van was behind him and that we should be rescued shortly. This was at 1:30am, after the agreed upon midnight pick up. Another hour went by, and we figured that the taxi cab has left us stranded 28.4 Miles from Austin. We cut our losses and we had two people from the one AND only van that came and picked us up and dropped them off come to get us. We finally got home at 3am. Despite the crappy ordeal, we now have a greater appreciation for Uber. You da real MVP. Austin misses you.

This is and will potentially be the worst experience of any kind in my life. The purpose of this…read morereview is to inform you of our poor experience and to emphasize why you NEVER go with a lowly-rated service... no matter what. Last night, I reserved 3 vans to come out to our wedding venue to pick up some guests. About 70 minutes before our agreed time, the operator texted to confirm. We agreed. At 10 minutes past, he tells us the VANS (as in plural) are on the way - 10 minutes away. Annoying, but it happens. All good. Let's stream some college football. At this point, the lives of 18 people are threatened. I cannot emphasize this enough. We find out last minute that they were only going to send 2 vans. Super annoyed, but I guess it'll have to do. The first 8 goes into the van; before leaving, we ask about the 2nd van. "It's right behind me." Within 15 minutes, we quickly realized the 2nd van was nowhere close. Within 30, we found out there wasn't another van coming... We had 8 other family and friends waiting at a wedding venue that was closed. No restroom, barely any lights, no water, etc. What about the ride itself? I mean, how hard is it to drive with google maps in your hand? We ended up tailing a van, taking the wrong highway, and swerving between lanes. The driver was awful and even tried to force us into paying/tipping him in cash above the agreed price. Super sketchy. Absolutely terrible service, expectation setting, attitude from both the driver and the operator (owner/manager?). This is the reason why we need rideshare companies. We need a level of accountability on these cab companies. I hope if you still decide to do business with this company after reading this, don't be stubborn and get into the van with the license plate of DSH-****. I'll be filing additional reports on other sites and the BBB to report the full extent of our experience.
