January 2025 I entered my information on Flushing Oral Surgery's website to schedule an appointment. Lin responded and scheduled me for the first week of March. March 2025 The day before my appointment with Dr. Li, I asked the first oral surgeon's office to email me the panoramic x-ray so I could forward it to Lin. I met with Dr. Li for a second opinion on my wisdom tooth extraction. I asked thorough questions to compare notes. At the time, I trusted Dr. Li and felt confident in his care. Dr. Li recommended the bone graft, and the dental assistant mentioned the out-of-pocket cost. He gave me pamphlets and pre-operative instructions. I called my dental insurance to expedite the pre-authorization and received approval two days later. I emailed the approval letter to Lin. Flushing Oral Surgery called to move up my surgery, which was originally scheduled for the last week of March. My mom accompanied me to my surgery today. Very disappointing experience. The front desk staff were extremely unhelpful and did not provide any assistant with filing my insurance claim. I need to deal with them back and forth with a simple thing with my toothache to speak but still didn't help plus call infinite times no one pick up the phone. During that time, I followed up multiple times and was repeatedly told that the request had already been submitted, even though the office could not provide a clear proof that anything had actually been sent. I later called my insurance company directly, and they told me they had never received any request from this office. After I informed the office of this, they said they would resend it before closing. I checked with my insurance again the next day, and insurance still had no record of receiving anything. This caused unnecessary delay in my treatment and wasted several weeks of my time. The most concerning part was the lack of clear communication and the inability to provide proof of submission while repeatedly telling me it had been submitted. For patients in New York who experience similar issues with a dentist or dental office, complaints about professional misconduct can be filed with the New York State Education Department Office of Professional Discipline, also known as NYSED OPD (download complaint form through their website). NYC 311 can also direct patients to the appropriate complaint process. Update: Based on my conversation with your office this morning, they now stated that the insurance request was submitted on 05/26 and said they would send me a screenshot showing that it was sent. However, this is still confusing because when I previously followed up about a week ago, one assistant told me she could not see any record of the submission, while I was still told that the request had been sent, your office stated that the assistant who told me she could not see any record of the submission was newly hired. I understand that new staff may still be learning office procedures. However, that does not resolve my concern. I had to call the office more than 40 times also send emails before I was finally able to reach someone. From my experience, leaving a Google review seemed to be the fastest way to get a response from your office. I had a very pleasant experience with Dr.Li. Firstly, My consultation was straight to the point and very informative. My surgery was booked one month out for an extraction of all four wisdom teeth. The day of my surgery I was very nervous to be put to sleep, however Dr.Li assured me that it would be over before I knew it . When I woke up from my surgery, it felt like the procedure was only five minutes. my prescriptions were called into the pharmacy and the staff went over my recovery instructions very thoroughly. After going home I had little to no pain and I barely used my pain medication. The worst part of my recovery was having to stay on a soft food diet . I was even able to go out on a family outing just one day after my surgery. My family couldn't believe it!!!!!! I am very pleased with my overall experience . I would recommend this dentist and office to my peers, if I haven't already. read more

One of the most dishonest practices around! BEWARE! First and foremost, thank you doc for not fucking up my mouth, hats off to you. I came in for a routine extraction (2 impacted, 2 mundane extractions) - upon the consult with the surgeon I was informed that a CBCT scan is needed as my impacted wisdom teeth are too close to the nerves. This scan cost $450.00 and was not covered by insurance - fine. I pay $450.00 plus my $50.00 co-pay. Additionally, the staff notified me that the procedure is 100% covered per their portal, after the $50.00 co-pay - awesome! THEY LIED. Procedure is completed and I return to my dandy life thinking that was the end of it. Couple weeks later they send a bill to my previous address, when I specifically told them I moved. The bill is now overdue and I call to dispute, they tell me there's nothing they can do and that my insurance only covered a certain amount (after informing me the procedure was fully covered). I call and call but am sent to a voicemail over and over again. Not only dishonest but not attentive either! I eventually get through and they threatened to send the bill to collections if I do not pay (for their mistake). In all fairness they did give me a discount, now the bill dropped from $550.00 to $350.00. I got ahold of a manager to try and work out a payment plan or something of that nature but it was futile. She was tempered and not accommodating. Do yourself a favor and do your due diligence prior to selecting a spot to have your precious mouth defiled (not literally). When all was said and done, procedure went well but it has left a nasty taste in my mouth. Do better Flushing Oral Surgery. TL;DR - Dishonest, cash-grab, lackluster customer service. How can I contact this office? No one answers the phone or calls back. I called numerous times and left messages for a call back to make an appointment but never received a call back. Finally, I emailed the office and the office staff emailed me back and forth and it is like dealing with a machine. I saw Dr Li 30 mins passed my appointment time. I didn't feel very comfortable during my consultation because I felt the doctor was rushing through and after you walked out that door, you will not be able to speak to anyone if you have questions because no one will answer the phone. I did my wisdom teeth extraction here. It was a quick surgery and I was out before I realized it. They used anesthesia so I wasn't even awake during the surgery. I bled a lot at first, but I was provided gauze and after the first two days the pain already subsided, but there was still a lot of blood oozing out of my gums. They were stitched though. By the 5th to 6th day I already had a bit of fries and chicken tenders, which I wasn't supposed to have, but my point is the toothache subsided quite faster than I had expected. On the 7th day I went back for another check-up which took only a few minutes once I was inside. Overall, this was a good experience and felt way better than having braces. Also they took my insurance BlueCross Empire. You also need an X-ray of your teeth, have that ready for the first appointment. Appointments are easy to schedule via email. read more

I have been going back and forth with Mary about insurance referral approval for a wisdom tooth extraction. I have been extremely patient, tried my best to get all the necessary information to her. I've gotten 2 phone calls from my insurance saying everything was approved. Followed up with Mary more than 3 times asking if they received it, she claims nothing has been received. I followed up with my dentist and they said everything was sent, insurance company called and said it was approved? So I'm confused why the office has never received anything but I feel like they purposely "didn't receive anything." This is the best doctor in town. I found Dr Li thru my insurance provider list. Due to impact of the wisdom tooth. He needs to extract all his wisdom tooth. I was kinda scared how this is gonna work. Dr Li specialized in Oral surgery, explained how the procedure will be and ease me and my son of the worrying we have. Everyone at the office was sweet and helpful. This is a long review, since I had an extensive experience with Dr Li. I found Dr. Li on my insurance preferred provider list after my mother had failed dental implants done by a general dentist. I visited multiple doctors in order to find someone I could trust to re do my mother's implants. We finally visited Dr Li and after our initial consult with him, we decided he was perfect. My mother needed a bone graft done before she could even proceed with the implants. Dr Li performed her bone graft and when we returned for our follow up he decided that he was not happy with the results and proceeded to do another bone graft. Again We were told this in our initial consult, that this was a possibility due to my mothers specific situation. After having had a botched implant job previously we were very thankful to find a Doctor who took his time and didn't rush to just get the job done. the entire implant process took about a year with Dr. Li but we could not be happier. Dr Li is a serious but concerned doctor. He takes his time to discuss your treatment plan and all possible options and outcomes. As per Dr Li's demeanor I personally was very happy with how he made sure to answer all of our questions, and there were many. He takes his job very serious and his work seriously as well. I really could go on and on, but I am truly thankful for the care my mother received. Even now if we have any questions we still call and he makes sure to answer our concerns.
