During my 20+ plus years in Sachse, I've been to a few barbershops in the area. On my first visit, I show them a photo of the cut I'm looking for. Some do a reasonable job, some don't. My first visit to Floyd's in Murphy, as a walk-in, I was paired with Tuong (Jack). He was able to replicate the cut I was looking for. He used scissors for most of the cut, relying on clippers for the final touchup. I was pleased with the outcome! I will be back! read more

I usually go in and see Janet, who always does a great job. After weeks of letting my beard and mustache grow without cut so I could get it a certain way. So, last week, I made an appointment with someone else that was able to do strait-edge razors for my beard grooming, expecting them to be have a better hand than most when it came to beards and mustaches. That turned out to not be the case. I showed up with multiple pictures of the same model at multiple angles so there would be no question in what I wanted. I showed and explained how I wanted the beard tapered down, I showed and explained how I wanted the mustache and had already even started using wax to train it. I got neither. I was asked at one point if I wanted my mustache off my lip, I responded that I just wanted it cleaned up a bit on my lip. My mustache was then cut WAY shorter than I asked for and showed the pictures of. I am now set back and having to start over on growing it back out again because now it is way too short to do/look the way that I wanted tonthe point that its too short for wax to even be able to work for shaping it. For the past few weeks I've debated whether I should leave this review or not; however, every day I am reminded of how terrible my last visit to this location really was. I came in for a simple haircut where I wanted it my hair to be cut short on the sides and longer on top so I could comb my hair to my side. I explained this to the woman cutting my hair and also showed her a picture of what I was looking for but she quickly glanced and began cutting my hair. I thought it was odd that she immediately started so quickly but figured she gets a lot of these haircuts every day. At some point during my haircut I realized she had started cutting the sides of the longer hair that I comb over much shorter and I brought this up and tried to comb my hair with my fingers. That's when I saw that she cut my hair so short on one side that it basically couldn't rest when combing over and instead would stick straight up. I asked her why she had cut it like that and she would not answer. Instead she suggested I move my part up so that the short hair would be hidden. I told her that I had never asked for her to do that and that I had told her how I wanted to style it but she wouldn't say anything else. Instead she talked to someone else and disappeared to the back room never to be seen again. Another employee had to come and apologize and proceed to fix what she had cut. Unfortunately for me there aren't many options to fix hair that has been cut too short. The second employee did the best she could and I soon left. They did not charge me for the haircut. Like I mentioned before the problem is I have been stuck with a weird section of hair that I am unable to comb even with a heavy amount of product. I don't think I would still have been as disappointed in this place if the original employee had tried to even apologize. She just left and had someone else fix her mistake. I am going to make sure that I never come back to this location after all that's happened and I encourage anyone else looking to get a haircut to look elsewhere. read more

Well, let me say I bought a gift certificate for a friend of mine for $100 online and booked an online appointment for him for a haircut, razor shave and goatee trim for 4:30 pm today on 8/1/2022. The place was not busy and he had to wait for 40 minutes without any apologies of his wait time. He was originally book for three different services as I mentioned but only ended up with an awful "buzz" cut. He told the Asian barber for a #1 cut and he doesn't have any hair on his head!! What did the barber hear... Bald Cut? Ugh! ‍ He looks like he is getting ready for the Marines boot camp at 59 years old!! Decided to forget about the other services. Went to the counter and show the gift certificate off his phone and then they asked for him to tip!! Really, sitting and waiting for 40 minutes and only ended up getting 1 out of 3 of the services. And yes he gave him a cash tip!!! He should have taken the tip out of his gift card!! I will never purchase another gift certificate from Floyd's or my friend will not be going back either! Definitely a step in the hip direction vs a Sports Clips or Supercuts but a similar concept. Its got a Deep Ellum vibe w/ loud music, colorful pics of rockstars on the walls, non-uniform wearing tattooed stylist. I visited opening weekend which had its pros and cons. Pro was they were offering services half off, con was they were Busy! I made 4 appts with ease. Arrived for my first 2 appts to find them running 20 mins behind (But, it's opening weekend). Janell and Amber did great jobs on my boy's haircuts. They did the neck wrap and cape but no talc powder or extensive brush off. Both stylists asked multiple times if there were any changes I wanted. My late afternoon appts were 45+ mins behind. When I booked the appt they said it was men, women and kids but upon inquiring about the long wait I was told they only had a few stylists that did women's cuts. I encountered 4 different stylists, and all were friendly and accommodating and the same front desk employee on my two visits (front desk employee could use a few customer service pointers). The experience was a 3.5 overall but gave the .5 for it being opening weekend and discount. I will definitely try it again for the men's and boy's cuts but for $60 for a women's I would go to a salon that caters more to women. read more

Just moved down here and haven't found a stylist/barber yet. I have been to a few Floyd's up in Denver and never had an issue. Well after reading the reviews for this location, I was hesitant. I came in and was seated by a person that was listed on a few bad reviews. I explained what I wanted: to clean my curls up to get rid of the damaged ends and to even it out with scissors only. He kept trying to ask how short I wanted it, if I wanted a fade. After a few minutes, I simply got up and took my business to Sports Clips down by the WHS, Amber was great with my curls over there. read more

Amber is great! My 7 year really does not enjoy a haircut and can be a challenge is she is patient and does a great job.

Tuesday is amazing. The place is nice. Appointments get messed up sometimes but it's worth the wait.

I usually have Tuesday cut my hair and she's great, but she was unavailable and I needed my haircut, so I got a different girl and she was very sweet and I tipped her well. The haircut looked decent afterwards but when I got home and washed the hair off, I saw that it was very choppy, very uneven, it looked like she just cut random pieces of hair whatever length she wanted, it was not blended at all, I had the dog groomer at my job try to blend the cut a little. I'm so upset because I was so excited and now I've just wasted money. read more

Something you guys should consider is hiring a lot more men. Just like women feel more comfortable with a woman doing their, it's the same for men. When you think about a barber shop you think about men hair cuts. It would help getting men customers to enjoy your store or even come to it if their was more men workers. I come here to visit my favorite hairstylist Tia. Tia is a very personable and sweet person with a great skill set. She listens to her clients and makes sure that you are happy with the cut as it's progressing before she cuts too much. Her attention to detail along with the other attributes that I mentioned is the reason that I continue to follow her. This shop is brand new, and looks like the rest of the Floyd's. The staff offers lots of smiles to the customers. The shop is typically very busy on weekends and an appointment is highly recommended. read more

Great experience at a place with a great vibe about it. This is like other Floyd's that we have been to, but in a newer, nicer location and shop! From the time we walked in, we felt welcomed and accommodated. Tons of parking and its a huge shop, so you probably won't have to wait for an available barber. We made an appointment with Emily N. and didn't have to wait at all!! Emily was great and really listened to exactly what my son and I wanted to do with our cuts! We even got massages at the end!! My son wanted a long/shaggy type hair cut. The gal cutting his hair was not familiar with cutting curly hair. It ended up so short. Asked him if he wanted it above his eyebrows...it is an inch above and cut straight across. Took all his nice long hair and curls and cut it extremely short and looks terrible. Nothing like the picture we showed or what we asked for. I will not be back. I'm so disappointed. The place is hip, has a cool vibe and she was very nice. The person that met us at the counter was not helpful.....she offered their other location and said they had walkins still available but when I called they were all booked up. So much for her idea. I brought my son in to have his hair cut tonight. The stylist used a blow dryer on him, he told her himself that he asked her not to use that. She then continued to use the blow dryer. My son is on the spectrum and is very sensitive about having his hair cut. When I first brought him in I tried to walk over but they made it seem that I couldn't stand by him, he's 5. He then was saying ow and she told him to stop moving and that it didn't hurt. I later realized she had cut him multiple times on the back of his ears. As someone who has managed salons, you need to teach your stylists about listening when a customer asks them not to do something. It doesn't matter if they are 5 or 50. We have the right to speak up for ourselves and be treated with respect. I saw multiple kids in there as well tonight, if they are saying ow, it hurts them. My son was bleeding and she told him it didn't hurt. Not cool at all I don't recommend this place even slightly we will never be back. read more

Phenomenal service!!! Took about 45 min but worth the time . She massaged my head and back. Used a razor for the edges of my knock and gave me a clean edge up and fresh cut! Well done! First: I was looking for a good ole fashion barber shop. Shoulda recognized the name: Floyd's is a notch above Great Cuts (they remind me of Sport Cuts : do they even exist any more ?) Haircut's seem pretty good. Handling of appointments is TERRIBLE. Got there at 9:10 : 10 minutes after opening. All chairs were full and there were several more ahead of me. However, the person at the register told me it would be about 20 minutes. An hour later, as I was getting ready to walk out, a stylist finally approached me ! 10 minutes later I was done. $35 poorer, I'm satisfied with the results, but won't be going back there again read more

The two stars is for the overall ambiance of this business not the haircut. Our first visit here and I should have researched it better. I called ahead and was given a 15/20 minute wait time. She said she put my name on the list. When we arrived the music was so loud I couldn't hear her. After 20 minutes I asked if they could turn it down and she told me that it had to be that loud. I know some places of business do this and I am obviously not their target crowd. I do, however, pay for the haircuts so therefore decide where the boys get haircuts and we will not be back. 40 minutes later my son was called back. The haircut is fine but this is just not a space that is comfortable to wait over an hour in. The staff doesn't seem very welcoming or friendly but that could be because you can't hear them even if they are trying to talk. read more

My husband and teenage son tried it for the first time recently. This is my husband's review. There was no problem setting up an appointment to fit his schedule. The staff were able to get to both of them around the appointment times. The staff was very friendly and professional. The focus was on providing haircuts that met their expectations. The cuts were slightly pricey but the extra cost was worth it for the quality of service. The store was clean and well-decorated. The only issue was the volume of the background music. Per the staff, company regulations set it at level 45. My husband has tinnitus, and my son has sensory issues with amplified sound. The volume was so high that communication in the store with staff was difficult. It was on the verge of being painful. The volume makes them hesitant to go back even with so many other positive factors present. read more

This place is new and pretty awesome. Great haircut! Best haircut I have had in decades! My stylist, Amber, also gave me a shave. It was incredible! I haven't have a straight razor shave in decades. Love the music, but it is a bit loud so it is hard to converse with your stylist or anyone you are with. 12 year old son also loved it and said its the best haircut he has had too, and I have to agree. The haircuts are fine, nothing special. My real issue is with the mismanagement of appointment making. The Addison location does a better job and will just make the trip in the future. I have multiple boys and make appointments for the same time. I'm not unreasonable and I don't expect them to be right on time or even a few minutes apart. They book the same stylist and cut them back to back when we make a point of telling them over the phone that we want time slots more than any stylist. Frustrating. read more
