The venue was pretty full of seniors. This is a great venue for us to get information, and many more services. The workshop was great. I learned about three Presidents. I knew nothing of their legacy. The presenter was knowledgeable and well-prepared. Snacks were provided (fruit, power bars, candy, water) I really enjoyed it.

I had a closet that needed to be purged desperately and Saint's Place has a community in need of gently used women's clothes. When my friend told me that they'll use my old clothes right away, I was sold. It was a match made in philanthropic heaven, so to speak. Saint's Place is located in Pittsford, adjacent to the St. Louis Church. Their goal is to aid and assist newly arrived refugees by giving them clothes, housewares, tutorial services, and by setting them up in new apartments. Lots of families rely on Saint's Place to get set up upon arriving in Rochester. What I really liked the most is that the refugees pick out clothes and leave with them that same day. Here's how it works: you can just leave your donations on the back porch and grab a receipt if you itemize. Make sure you keep everything together in a plastic bag to protect from the elements! For those of you who love a good garage sale, Saint's Place has an annual super sale. This is noteworthy because it's the one time of the year when they accept donations of non-children's books. Saint's Place normally only takes children's books because the refugees are only now learning to speak English. Clothing donations should be of the casual variety, maybe a little business casual to be thrown in. Pickup is available as well if you can't drop off your donations easily. Of course, volunteering is also good too! I'm glad my friend told me about Saint's Place because I know my old clothes will be put to good use here. If you need to clean out your closet, consider donating here, there are lots of families who will be glad you and I did.

Embarrassed to say that my first ever trip to I-square was today - better (very) late than never! I…read moremade a pit stop for lunch and had some spare time to explore the Imaginarium. WOW. What an incredible space for the entire Irondequoit community and families. With clean, renewable energy at the forefront of this entire buildings core, it is hard not to jump on board and get excited about the kind of model this could be for future, similar concepts! I opted for a chicken caesar wrap from the pasta station in their food court. I also ordered a coffee (they brew finger lakes onsite) and it was the perfect midday pick me up. The space is all about community and I even took a moment to go hop on one of the energy powered bikes upstairs! There is an instagram-worthy indoor herb garden that the chef uses to cook, and a VR area in the Imaginarium. I hope to check out the conference rooms and rooftop on my next visit, and can't wait to try more of the spaces offerings!

The team is crazy knowledgable about all things composting and great advocates for how we all can make the world a more sustainable place. In non-Corona times, they do a monthly event at Abundance co-op that talks about the importance of composting. From their knowledge and expertise, I was able to start my own backyard pile and was also inspired to dig up/create my own raised veggie garden. All of our food scraps now go into a super cheap DIY bin, with full instructions on how to accomplish this given by CC. I think the bucket program would be the perfect fit for anyone in an apartment or anyone just looking to make an easy sustainable change. There are several options for plans: you can have them pick up your compostable items bi-weekly, or you can bring them your bucket at one of several locations and swap it for an empty one. It's quite affordable, and if you go with the pick-up program you also get a share of compost in the spring. With the swap option, you can buy compost at a reduced price.
