Prices are high for secondhand items, and many aren't in great condition. Anything broken/cracked/damaged shouldn't cost more than 99 cents (but they do). I did find a reasonably priced flower pot, an overpriced but kind of perfect basket for my bedroom ($8), and a pretty-good-condition summer dress. One other annoyance is that there are no fitting rooms, so I had to hope for the best that the dress would fit once I got it home. They did offer an opportunity to enter an email/phone number at checkout and get a discount off of your total purchase, and I happily did so. There is a rewards program of some kind, but I likely won't go here enough to utilize it. This is a good place to go to satisfy the thrifting thrill in the colder months when there are no garage sales. Went to Savers for the first time. It's a trip for me cuz I don't live nearby. A big store full of stuff, especially the household items etc. I looked at the summer dress selection. There's a ton of dresses and the condition of items on average looked decent. The starting price is definitely higher than Goodwill and Amvets: 5.99 and above. Some pieces can go over 10 and hit almost 20 bucks when they're just some mall brands like loft, ann klein, etc. Too bad the dressing rooms are closed at this time. So I left even though I found some nice dresses for work. Just learned you can return from another Yelper's review. I suppose it's a 7-day return policy as Goodwill used to have this rule. I actually really like Savers! I'd never been to one before I moved to Rochester, but I thrift a lot and I find that resellers have usually combed through and bought all the things I might like at other chain thrift stores, so coming here and finding a lot of really nice products was a lovely surprise. I was lucky enough to find an entire set of matching shelves, a vintage blanket in pristine condition, and a gorgeous vintage mixing bowl set and my partner found some fun t-shirts and a new watch, all at very reasonable prices. I personally found the way their clothing was organized a little confusing, so you may have to dig for finds, but I can't recommend the home goods section enough to someone looking to decorate for less. Update: they've used COVID as an excuse to get rid of fitting rooms, and their horrible return policy means that anything you buy that doesn't fit has become wasted money. And it's not cheap either. Most clothing STARTS at more than twice the price of another thrift store just down the road, and is on par with new clothing at several other stores within half a mile. Saver's, of course, is a thrift store. I've seen an increase in the number & quality of thrift stores in Rochester lately, and the arrival of Saver's represents a new high water mark. Webster's saver is located in the plaza in Webster next to the Library, across from the plaza that contains Hegedorn's, K-Mart & BJ's. I suppose it is a sign of the times when a thrift store pops up in a fairly high profile location. It used to be that these types of stores were located in dead or dying strip malls. Which might be the case here... after all, there is so much commercial real estate in Webster that is empty. That said, Saver's is a fairly high end thrift store. Clean, well laid out and packed with second hand merchandise. Whenever I visit Saver's I always walk out with books & records. I have always enjoyed thrifting and Savers gives me that opportunity. They divide up their store to allow the shopper to spend less time looking through piles and get to what they want. Currently due to COVID their dressing rooms are closed but you can return if needed. You probably won't come across a rare find as they are pretty good at catching all the valuables and pricing them accordingly but it's still a fun way to spend some time and come home with some needed (or not so needed) goodies. I live pretty close by to this place and I go there often. Everytime I go I get no support for the people who work there. They are very hard to approach especially when everytime I go it's packed and the workers are super distracted. Also the fact I have anxiety in public places! When I try talking to workers, asking questions or if my grandpa ask them something while they stand around talking or on a phone they just have such sour attitudes! If you're looking for a good selection of pre-worn clothing (but a little pricey for a thrift store), then this is the place for you. Otherwise, good luck finding any decent furniture or collectibles because there is a lady there EVERY day, for hours each day....constantly on the move, up & down the aisles loading up her cart with the better merchandise & valuables. Somehow she just happens to be right by the production room door whenever something of value is being wheeled out. It's pretty obvious someone in the pricing area is alerting her when "something good" is coming out. If you do spot a nice piece of collectible furniture on the sales floor, don't be surprised to see a SOLD sticker already on it, with her name (Gail) on the sticker. She follows the guy who stocks the shelves around, in constant conversation with him....one gets the impression that she's "connected". An employee mentioned that this lady has a resale business, and that there have been complaints about her from other customers. This is a decent second hand store but I don't think I'll be visiting again. There is a wide selection of all items from houseware to clothing, but unfortunately the lack of dressing rooms really kills the experience for me. I walked around for about an hour gathering quite a decent size clothing haul, and had to put almost everything back when I realized there was no fitting room. Taking their return policy into consideration on top of that makes it kind of pointless to shop here unless you know exactly what you want and can somehow be certain you won't need to return it. Well organized and well stocked, Savers is a decent place to go if you're in the market for nifty-thrifty finds. Ok, so here's a little secret about me. I love jigsaw puzzles. But I really can't justify spending a lot of money on one at Target or wherever. I come in here every once in a while and scope out the puzzles. This latest trip - I scored big with an unopened (old) Whitman brand puzzle. 2 bucks! YAY! Honestly, you can't beat a quality puzzle at a price like this. I also found this really great china bowl that is deep and perfect for eating pho at home. I'm sure it was originally designed as a serving dish - but it works perfectly for pho. Only 99cents! It used to be a great place to pick up all kinds of stuff, but recently it's just such a disappointment. Prices are ridiculous, especially clothing...it's the end of winter, and used winter coats in brands that you can get at Walmart are $24.99?? That's crazy. Men's dress shirts, again not designer brands, average about $14. nicer (though not designer) brands, Chaps, Eddie Bauer, and Lands End for example, are about $20. Much of the kid's clothing is so worn out that I'd have tossed it away ten washings ago. The stuff that is in decent shape is again way overpriced. Bargain brand long sleeve shirts $6.99-7.99, dresses $9.99....someone thinks that velour, velvet or sequins means "fancy" and they boost prices on anything that includes them. Probably the same person who puts a huge price tag on anything from Lands End. It ain't designer, guys! The biggest problem is the small stuff sealed in plastic bags. I used to LOVE browsing the wall of small decorative items, kitchen utensils, small toys...but lately the theme seems to be "put the broken stuff in the bags....the customers are not allowed to open them so they'll pay for it anyway!" Recent failures included: A stack of what appeared to be unopened packages of sports cards, packed tightly into the plastic bag. What fun! See what you get! Nope. Each little packet had been carefully slit up the back, picked through, and the ones they didn't want were slid back in. But this was not visible until you took them out of the plastic bag. Child's porcelain tea set in a plastic bag...got home to reveal that the handle was broken off one cup, and the teapot spout was badly chipped (the end of it was pretty much gone and what was left was razor sharp) as was one plate. If you've ever cut yourself on porcelain, you'll know that this is a very unsafe way to sell stuff. Set of steak knives with wooden handles, tightly packed in a plastic bag. Got home to discover that three of the knives had blades which were actually no longer attached to the handle, just sliding around in the slot. I have just given up on this place. Whomever is preparing stuff for sale has dropped the ball. read more

I was removing an awful lot of stuff from the house and was looking for a place that would accept a variety of things. I'm delighted to have found savers. They accepted the children's games, the sporting equipment, the old vinyl records, cookware and assorted knickknacks. Along about my fifth trip it seemed like the Personnel were happy to see my face and you can believe I was happy to see theirs. I really liked the Henrietta store, but unfortunately it closed 6/1/17. From what I understand, the remaining stock from that store was moved to this location and it probably fleshed-out what they were lacking. They have a huge stock and for the most part it's well organized and fairly clean. The prices are more than fair on most items. However, they need to change a couple things. Please: * STOP putting those-nearly impossible to remove-tags right over any identifying information (or the most important information) on items--especially on china, etc. * STOP wrapping fragile, antique, hand painted items with 40 feet of heavy duty packing tape! I bought a beautiful 120 year old English teapot on my last visit. Pristine condition. Except they had taped the lid to the pot with literally FEET of packing tape. When I carefully removed it, I still lost some of the delicate, antique hand painting. Reduced the value by 1/2. * PLEASE HANDLE FRAGILE ITEMS WITH MORE CARE...so many nice things obviously damaged while on the shelves there...sad. Some rare items just trashed. Have a great veterans discount too. BE SURE TO CHECK THE BAGGED ITEMS ON THE WALLS! You might be very surprised at what you find in them! I once found a very valuable piece of antique Nippon china in a bag with some junk toys. Another time we found a bag of vintage car hood ornaments worth $25-200 each...I think we paid $2 for the bag! Messy crowded store with outrageous prices. I could buy better clothes cheaper anywhere else. I definitely suggest taking your business elsewhere unless you like emptying your wallet for used goods that may or may not work, then savers is the place for you. I most generally leave with multiple items. Some things are overpriced, but then I just don't buy those items. As you spend money there you rack up 20% discounts to use next time. It's not everything to everyone, but I still enjoy it and I still save a lot of money shopping there. You now have 14 days for exchanges because no more dressing rooms. I was in the store today 9/24/19 at 10:00 a.m. and saw the male manager price a gold bracelet. When I asked how much it was I was told it was SOLD as the manager snatched it up for himself. This place is SHADY. They also have a guy who shows up every Tuesday at open and is given first dibs on ALL the incoming jewelry and is allowed to view it before being placed in case. It's bad enough they over-price and down play the fact that they are a for-profit company that pays charities pennies on the dollar for the merchandise they receive as "donations"...now they have started to charge for bags and ask people to donate newspaper to wrap merch with....worst of all is their ridiculous return policy! We bought a defective electronics item, which had to be returned within 24 hours to get store credit....store credit that you must use the day you return your item! Was excited to check out Savers, but disappointed. The word Thrift store has changed in the last 15+ yrs for these stores, not just here. Btwn ebay & following each other's increases, theyre slowly pricing themselves out of business. Less people shop at them overall for this reason. This is used/donated goods. What they charge at thrifts is ridiculous. ie-Salavtion Army, all donated goods, so no inventory costs. They use a lot of volunteers, in addition to paid employees, they are tax exempt & get federal grants. I know they have shelters they run, overhead, etc but the increase in cost for Used items is just crazy. Salvation Army specifically doesn't have a lot of expenses that other businesses incur. I think that's what's so frustrating. They were 1st to do the increases in cost locally. Used to go to the local thrifts & .50-1.50 for shirts, $1-3 pants, dress/suits $3-5, shoes $2-$4, etc. That was cool, now the word used escapes thrifts. Savers had pair of boots for $29.99, USED PEOPLE, USED. It wasnt even like Coach or something that has high retail price...nope. I can go to TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc & get brand new, name brand, quality items for like the same price. That's insane! Unless it's something super special, the only way I'll buy stuff at thrifts now is on their sale days. It's a shame cuz thrift stores can be great. Especially for people who don't earn a lot of $ & can't afford to buy $50 jeans or $50 shoes. I understand they need to make $ & have overhead, but it's getting too expensive for what it is. FYI, I hate the way Savers hangs their pants. Whenever you want to check the size, it falls off the hanger. There are pants on the floor of hanging by 1 side of the pant so clearly I'm not the only one having that issue. read more

They don't know how to price things. some managers are very unfriendly. They don't really care about the community, as they are a FOR PROFIT business! They only give a tiny percentage of what they make to big brothers and big sisters of America. (less than 15% of their money is donated). Their impact on the environment is HORRIBLE!! *****Support some other place that isn't for profit. (Go to AVBI Goodwill. they care about the community, their employees, and their environmental impact they have as well, unlike savers).***** The employees are not even treated fairly: --There is favoritism, --unfair write-ups, --unrealistic expectations placed on everyone every day, -- and the supposed positive atmosphere doesn't go a step beyond the doors to the back processing room. ( The sales floor seems positive. The way the employees are treated in the back room is negative and would be an eye-opening experience for a customer to see what really goes on.) Oh, and don't forget the fact that they don't recycle any items besides cloth. Everything else is tossed, at least 2 big garbage bins full of housewares items, every day!! I was always thrilled to shop at Savers pre-COVID. Because I'm a senior, I loved to shop on Tuesday's for the 30% discount. The prices were a little high for a thrift shop, but I usually found really high quality designer-type clothing - lots with with pricetags still on them. Once COVID hit, the dressing rooms closed, so you had to take any clothing home, try it on, and return it for store credit. As of 7/21, I've been told the "corporate" has made the decision to leave the dressing rooms closed! I live 45 minutes from Savers! Any returns mean a 45-minute drive back, to select clothing that I'll have to take home again, and again, and again. I tried on some clothing in the restroom (which, by the way, is also small and frequently visited, like dressing rooms) but I was chastised by an associate for doing that. Bye, bye, Savers! Go to Henrietta. Or Buffalo. This store is so disorganized and the employees could care less. Apparently women are allowed to either be S, M, L or XL+. By that it means everything you'd buy at a plus size store (we're talking 14-32) are in the same rack. Makes absolutely no sense. I can zoom through pants just fine but I literally have to spend an hour going through the "XL" rack to find a 2x shirt... I wouldn't hold it against them but they are a for profit business. We aren't talking charity here. Lazy ineffective setup. I do like the puzzles and games section but the stock is usually the same stuff over and over. They do have some good sales on holidays that makes the torture worth it. Also, $10 for a stained land's end turtleneck? Might as well toss that one in the recycle box because it's not going anywhere. Very little quality control.. everything ends up on the shelf. read more

We looked for this store in Webster and went today since they are closing the one in Henrietta. I thought it was a nice store!! As nice if not nicer than the one in Henrietta. They have a lot of clothes and puzzles and games. They are a little pricey but today (Tuesday) was seniors day and 30% everything. Still if you look you can get a deal!! Love this store! Have found countless bargains -- beautiful clothes in very good to excellent shape -- and, best of all, in my size, 1-2x! Would recommend this store to anyone who loves to save money. To date I have a new fall wardrobe including a lovely winter coat with real fur trim on the hood for under $8. Can't beat that. Savers is a great place if you need inexpensive clothing, shoes, or books. The store also has an ever-changing selection of household items, including small appliances (I've saved a lot on these), curtains, towels, sheets, couches, suitcases, bikes, old computer equipment, and so on. The brands are varied from high-end brand names to Walmart merchandise. The prices also are varied and don't always make sense; a high-end brand product may be several dollars cheaper than a no-name comparable item, or vice-versa. However, shoppers need to be aware - a $10 pair of blue jeans may have holes in the knees, while a $2 pair is in like-new condition. In general, the prices are extremely reasonable. The service is good but not perfect; if you need help they'll give it to you, but don't expect lots of employees running around trying to help you (except on sale days). Once the checkout lady told us she would give us the senior discount (which at the moment is 30% off on Tuesdays for those 55 and over), but then forgot to do it. The senior in our group went back the next day and they were quite cooperative at fixing the mistake - which brings the employees up a couple notches in my estimation! The selection if often quite good, except late in the day of / the day after a sale day, when hot items like sneakers are pretty picked over. You never know what you're going to find, so it's a fun place to browse and pick up some great deals! read more
